General Discussion / Re: Little Marketing Project Involving Smart Contracts
« on: November 25, 2015, 04:42:25 pm »
Lets say 5 close friends decide to implement this scheme for 10 dollars for every 7 days. That would mean:

1. week - member A is paid  $40 by the rest of the group (B-$10,  C-$10,  D-$10,  E-$10)
2. week- member B is paid $40 by A,C,D,E
3. week- member C is paid $40 by A,B,D,E
4. week- member D is paid $40 by A,B,C,E
5. week- member E is paid $40 by A,B,C,D

Looks to me like a nice social credit scheme. Your friends sponsor you for getting drunk in a pub every 5th week, you pay your debt during weeks 1-4.

Technical Support / wallet recovery
« on: November 25, 2015, 01:40:07 am »
So, I made a back up of my wallet on different devices, but how do I prepare for loss of them? I saved a brain key, tried to recover my wallet using this brain key, it worked. Do I also need to save "active" and "owner" private keys on paper? How do I use them to access to my account in case of loss of wallet file?

General Discussion / Re: Discussing the problems with bitUSD (smart coins)
« on: November 24, 2015, 10:45:12 pm »
If I borrow BitUSD and sell for USD then I maintain a neutral position (long BTS, no leverage).

And what is incentive for doing this?

Market making for a given bitasset and its real world counterpart. You profit from the spread of that market and don't have to worry about the price movement of any assets. At the end of the day you are still just long BTS.

How can you do market making for bitGold:Gold or bitOil:Oil? Something like bitGold -> bitUSD -> USD -> Gold ?

Thanks for bringing up this discussion. Was wondering similar questions. Bitshares advertises bitAssets as a cool way to store value. You like gold, here we have bitGold for you, its value is pegged to gold. But, in order for bitGold to be a cool store of value, somebody have to issue enough and make the market. How do you issue a bitAsset risk free way? If you borrow bitAsset and BTS falls, you are screwed.

Bought some obits on market. Waiting for buy back. Please make me happy. :)

The proposal seems to be not accepted. @wmbutler Could you make another proposal with addressing above questions and longer voting period?

Voting period? I don't see a voting period in gui. Could somebody point me to summary of how the voting works? What are requirements of proposal to be accepted?

it does not take a genious to see the incoming amounts to ccedkbts and the following payments from obits account

Ok, you are right I am wrong. I thought you are receiving payments off blockchain.

Reading half and making up the other half asuming things instead of trying it out yourself is bound to go wrong and although I did say off blockchain, I meant as such that it was not listed on any sales stats like coinmarketcap etc, for people outside to follow, simply because this stage before public launch is the stage of making mainly crypto minded people aware  giving all a chance to buy in early before the news reaches the mainstream category of investors interested in something different, yet appealing for future profitt take.

My two biggest priorities up untill Dec. 1st is

1. Settling all matters, for OBITS to be listed on as many exchanges fully BitShares 2.0 integrated a possible

2. Getting out to as many magazines and bloggers worldwide interested in presenting and promoting OBITS on their website, sending the readers to Openledger and in return generating future residual income on the base of a Lifetime membership link

that is what I am working with in the meantime of making time writing my feedback on these comments.

Have you ever thought about the impact when a successful wave of users wish to signup on Openledger to buy and safekeep OBITS, and buy buying OBITS whether it is in other currencies than bts where we then buy supply of bts, or it is themselves going out there buying bts to buy OBITS.

Either way a demand is created for bts, allowing the price of bts to rise, and as such you make OBITS rise in price as well, and suddenly it is not only the fees involved and the buyback creating teh value combined with the demand and supply, it is suddenly also the indirect increase of bts, and suddenly you have the kin of synergy I love to deal with.

None of this has gotten anything to do with dumping and pumping.

It is more about believing in BitShares and creating a need, from expected income from fees and added future projects.

With that need created we are able to present a solution based on the profits of the exchange network.

Writing too much of wordy text never helps clarity. Being a little more concise never hurts.

@luckybit Agree with financial independence argument. Those monopolies play bad jokes with people. I will not name them here because they are well known assholes.

Most of people in the world are not bothered by governments

Where is this imaginary land? I want to move there!

The fact that they can't or choose not to see the tyranny does not mean it doesn't exist. They WILL see it and experience it sooner or later ... probably sooner.

Oh year if you ask 1000 people on the street if they like their government or not, 900 of them will answer not. But they will not pay you a fraction of cent to liberate them because a) they don't actually suffer from regime in most of the world (with very rare exceptions), they suffer from completely different things; and b) you can't give to those who actually suffer from regime any freedom anyway, my libertarian friend. WHAHAHA!!!

1124
OMG, what the crap did I just read? Most of people in the world are not bothered by governments and are not sick with any libertarian dreams. Most of people think about much simpler things like what will I eat tomorrow or how will I raise my kids. This is the reason why NASDAQ and Forex exist. People consume huge amount of stuff every day, many of which is produced over seas. NASDAQ and Forex help them to satisfy their needs, being the link between producers and consumers. They offer end solution. None of crypto projects can take their place, because all of them are made by libertarian dreamers, who don't understand how thing which they buy every day, appear in their supermarkets. Crypto is useless even for such simple things like cross border money transfer for remittance or online shopping purpose. Just a cool toy with farts and whistles, attracting curious tech geeks, who do not mind to lose money gambling against each other. I am following this blockchain tech for about three years, and hoping that at least one project will come out which is attached to real world economy. After reading crap about opposing the regime as a locomotive of progress, I am losing my hope.
