Technical Support / Loading...
« on: October 19, 2015, 05:41:52 pm »
I went to the website.  Created a wallet.  Imported private keys.  Balance never showed.  Closed browser.  Now when I try to load the wallet using the link on the bitshares site, it just says "Loading..."

So, how do I get to my broken online wallet to try and recover my shares?  I have to say, making the client worse and worse with each iteration is really a feat.  Every time I think it can't get any more broken, it does.

HODLing since the start,

Cubic

Technical Support / Can't open wallet but have private keys
« on: August 18, 2015, 08:14:18 pm »
Hi Guys, I tried opening my BTS wallet for the first time in months but it keeps telling me I have the wrong password.  Which is odd; I know it's right.  I installed the latest version; same problem.  Uninstalled and rebooted and reinstalled; same problem.  I have the private keys so I'd really like to just delete everything, reinstall fresh, create a new wallet and import the keys but I can't figure out how to do that.  Every time it asks me for a password, even on a fresh install.  Any ideas?

General Discussion / Offline paper storage of private keys
« on: August 07, 2014, 04:12:44 pm »
I always back up my private keys securely offline but I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to do that with BTSx.  I'm logged in to the wallet but when I run "wallet_dump_private_key" it just says "command aborted".  I'd really like to have my keys so I can add them to my secure files.  Any help appreciated.

General Discussion / Cannot register name
« on: August 07, 2014, 04:10:24 pm »
I'm trying to register my account name but it's bringing up an error "in method 'wallet_account_register': invalid transaction expiration (31012)"

Account is well funded.  Checked the name with blockchain_get_account and it says no account found.

Any ideas?

Hi guy, I'm trying to send a small test amount to another address generated in the same wallet.  Amount is 0.00275650 PTS.  When I try to send it I receive an error that the amount is too small.  Seems like I should be able to send this amount though.  Ideas?

BitShares PTS / Quick PTS-qt question
« on: February 10, 2014, 02:40:00 am »
I have a pretty long term outlook on Protoshares / Bitshares and I'd greatly prefer to have a wallet stored offline.  I know I can backup my wallet  file electronically, but would it also be feasible to dump my private hey using the instructions here?

http://protoshares.com/redeem.html

If I have the private key I can basically print it out as a paper wallet and reimport it into a fresh qt install if necessary, correct?

BitShares AGS / AGS in an offline paper wallet
« on: February 05, 2014, 05:39:10 am »
I'd like to invest in AGS but I'm very long on this sort of tech and would prefer to have them connected to an entirely offline paper wallet that has never been exposed to the network.  I'm not sure how to do that considering that to buy in you must send BTC from an active wallet.  Is there any way to achieve this?

BitShares AGS / AGS donation from Blockchain wallet
« on: February 05, 2014, 03:36:36 am »
If I want to make an AGS donation from a blockchain wallet, do I just send it to the address?  When/how are my shares recorded?

OK, I'm an idiot muddling through all this crypto stuff, living in interesting times.  I'd like to trade some BTC for Protoshares, still figuring that one out.  Client didn't even connect without me diving deep into a forum and using the debug feature.  DEBUG!

Now I want to check out this Keyhote stuff.  Download the software.  No instructions.  No idea what any of it means.  Go to Keyhote forum.  Pithy, obscure topis about angelshares and founder this and that and NO basic, this is what this is and why you do it and how you do it.

Pretty confused.  Grinning, interested, excited, but still damn confused.

tl;dr I just installed Keyhote.  What should I do next?

General Discussion / Best place to trade BTC for PTS?
« on: February 05, 2014, 01:04:40 am »
Hi Guys, interested in establishing a small position in PTS.  I'm very interested in the possibility of distributing many centrally controlled functions of the internet; from what I read that's what bitshares will be all about.

I've been using BTC for a while, but I've never used an online exchange before and frankly it's freaking me out...you read so many horror stories.

So, which exchange would you recommend for a noobish buyer wanting to trade maybe .25 btc into protoshares? Also the only link I could find for wallet software was broken.  Damned if I'm gonna leave my balance on an exchange....
