Technical Support / Light Wallet Back up Question
« on: October 22, 2015, 11:33:04 am »
I backed up my Brain Key and downloaded the default.bin file. I renaimed the default.bin file is that ok?  Is that enough to backup my light wallet? Also what does No Balance Claims mean also what happens when I click on it?  When I click on Wallets in the settings I see No Balance Claims but when I first login it shows I have Bitshares but why does nothing show up when I click on Wallets in settings and I get No Balance Claims?

I looked on Btc38 and Bittrex and you can't deposit or withdrawal Bitshares on those you exchanges. What's the reason for that? If it has something to do with the update why doesn't Bitshares jump on that and help these exchanges out?

General Discussion / Re: Stop loaning your Bitshares for shorts
« on: October 18, 2015, 09:59:55 am »
People who use there Balance in Bitshares to supply margin for the exchanges. They gain a few pence per day in interest which is nothing and long term they will never make any profit. People who use there balance to supply margin make it hard for the price of the coin to go up. In exchange for earning a few pence per day they make it impossible for them or anyone else to make a profit long term

what do you mean by "loaning" bitshares?

General Discussion / Stop loaning your Bitshares for shorts
« on: October 18, 2015, 03:47:35 am »
Theirs allot of people bitching on here about the price. I have a simple solution, stop loaning your Bitshares so people can short it!!!! The interest your earning is so small you'll never turn a decent profit. If everyone stops loaning Bitshares for shorts then the price will jump higher!  So if you're loaning your Bitshares your contributing to the price problem and making sure no one makes money including yourself! Seems like a dumb think to do is to contribute to the decline of price when you hold BTS I mean it's a conflict of interest loaning BTS, think about it!!!

Theirs some drama on some whatever exchange Bittrex with crap volume. I'm sure that's why the dump is happening. Once that get's resolved the dumps will stop and people will gobble up these cheap coins!
dat is ridiculous few hours right after release the price is being sent to the inner core of hell

i dont see any legit reason for that

do any of u have clue on what happened

General Discussion / $1 Bitshares possible?
« on: October 17, 2015, 10:54:46 am »
I was having some fun with math and figured to get to a $1 per Bitshares we would need a 2.5 Billion dollar market cap, am I right? Bitcoin has surpassed that. I think Bithsares has allot of good uses and I feel it's way more useful than Litecoin and Litecoin has over $100,000,000 market cap.

So let's do some math and correct me if I'm working

$1 per Bitshares with 2.5 billion supply we would need 2.5 Billion Marketcap

$0.10 per Bitshares we would need $250,000,000 Marketcap

$0.01 per Bitshares we would need $25,000,000 Marketcap

Those amounts don't sound like much but if you buy at the current rate 5 Bitcoins worth that would leave you with hundreds of thousands of Bitshares. If we ever hit a $1 which is very possible based on other coins allot of people will can get rich with just a few Bitcoins invested!

BITTREX has disabeled trading there seems to be some issue with BITTREX NOT POLONIEX!!! Everyone should trade on an exchange with volume not BITTREX!
why has poloniex stop the deposit to them?
How the fu$#$ck will the traders that have margin long position's support their order's?

Thank you that makes me feel better
If I buy and sell Bitshares on an exchange with Bitcoin BTC/BTS and Bitcoin rises to $1000 in value does that make the price of Bitshares less, is the price of bitshares effected by the price of Bitcoin?

Or will the value of BTS won't be effected it will just mean when you cash out you will receive less bitcoin because Bitcoin will go upon value. So basically Bitshares price is only effected by marketcap and available supply and demand of bitters?

It is option 2... If you buy BTS and the value of Bitcoin goes to a $1000 - the value of BTS won't necessarily be effected and when you cash out you will receive less Bitcoin.

If BTS is successful though it could vastly outperform Bitcoin.

The market is still not very liquid, but if you like you can buy BitBTC in the BitShares wallet...

BitBTC should maintain the value of BTC, if you sometimes want Bitcoin exposure. (There is also BitUSD and other currencies which hold their respective values.)

You can't sell Bitshares in USD and if you could no where has enough volume to do that

Price is always a relative term.  When you talk about price you are always comparing two values.  It is perfectly possible for the price of bts to fall compared to Btc while remaining constant compared to USD.
