Are sure you invested in AGS/PTS?  It's almost as if you want to see this fail and would take great pleasure in it.

Thanks for all you are doing and for honoring PTS!

Honoring AGS also would free us up to include promoting your DAC as part of our media blitz planned to coincide with our big summer-long DAC coming out party.  We are promoting an industry, not one company, and are delighted to promote any third party DACs that the BitShares Social Consensus allows us to support.

Possible synergies abound!   Joint interviews and videos that people will consume just because they are joint interviews and videos, for example.  You can be a part of every promotion we produce that talks about the Summer Cambrian Explosion of DACs.  Let us bask in each others brilliance!  The whole can be greater than the sum of its parts!

While Denny's DACs and your DACs may look like competitors, the real competitors are established on-line gaming businesses.  You and Denny will drive more awareness to each other's DACs than you will take away from each other.  It's the same reason competing car dealers and hardware stores tend to cluster on the same street.  Get the traffic to come to your neighborhood and then compete!

Thanks Stan. I agree with your point about synergies, and I hope LottoShares will be a stepping stone to help altcoiners understand the DAC concept.

Regarding AGS, I do feel that the 'BitShares Social Consensus' has been subject to 'proportion creep'. The 10% distribution initially suggested with the launch of PTS seemed fair to me and a workable model, and AGS seems like a reasonable way for I3 to raise funds for in-house projects, but a 20% distribution from 3rd party BSD licensed DACs seems excessive. I'd probably feel differently if I was using I3's code from the start - but I'm not.

I appreciate your point of view, but you are giving away 20% to BTC and Doge.  How are you going to communicate the airdrop to all the BTC holders?  BTC ownership has become much more widespread these days.  Most BTC holders probably don't browse bitcointalk and other forums.  It seems like a lot of coins will be wasted when they could have went to a community that is 100% likely to embrace the development and help promote it.

Just my 2 bitshares.

I feel a bit bad about not commenting on your plans and work HackFisher, which might make you feel like you're talking in the void. Thing is I really find your project one of the most promising and interesting DACs, honest gambling is a real big thing I think, but I'm not a gambling man and have no opinions to give from that perspective. I do have a decent grasp of the basics in probability math and statistics, but alas that is also the reason I'm not a gambling man and don't really believe in luck.

So don't let the lack of comments discourage you, there is support for your efforts, just not much in way of opinions.

IMO, this DAC is the sleeper.  It has the potential to be HUGE right out of the gate.  While other DACs need time to build users, BitsharesLotto will have immediate users.

General Discussion / Re: BitShares PTS2 - Community Input Thread
« on: May 22, 2014, 01:57:13 pm »
Why not launch PTS2 when AGS donation is finished? Or finish it early if required.

Then make PTS2 = PTS + AGS, this will keep it simple further on as new DACS will honour PTS2.

AGS will become liquid as it has already serve its purpose.

Let PTS die and do a transition as it has been suggested.

The new PTS2 could be call FounderShares as suggested before and would be clear is equal to PTS + AGS (Proto + Angel). The 300k reminder could be distributed in equal terms across both PTS / AGS as both have had have different risks and good periods.

This actually sounds like one of the better suggestions, but would require bounties to be issued by the community for marketing projects etc.

While a lot of people seem to think that the AGS-fund is an enormous amount of money, to me it doesn't look all that impressive compared to the amount of work and spending that will be required for all the projects that are planned and what the community seems to expect the fund to pay for.

The real question is how do you do this without pissing off one of the groups? If AGS converts to less shares than PTS then you just defeated the purpose of the AGS investors.  More DAC shares is the reason I purchased AGS.  If AGS doesn't convert to less shares than PTS, the value of PTS will be severely diluted.  Please correct me if this is wrong.

Stan: please then focus on marketing and describe you incentives so that everyone (espescially pot. Newcomers) understand your desicions .. otherwise i can see way they will not call it a premine!!

Have we considered a charity fund? maybe with a nlocktime?

Ok, now we are getting to the topic I was trying to get started!   :)

There have been many ideas discussed on this forum during the past few months

General categories:
  • Airdrop to other communities.
  • Donations to the Jamaican Bobsled Team or World Peace.
  • Teaming with another community that specializes in buzz.
  • Huge ad campaigns.
  • Give major opinion makers a free stake.
  • Offer incentives for getting involved - download wallets and/or Keyhotee
  • DAC-specific promotions - e.g. prizes every week for the best new BitShares ME offering.
  • Elon Musk's viral method of $10 for every new Keyhotee user an existing Keyhotee user recruits
  • Insert your favorite category here...
We are looking for great ideas and hope to come up with a potent mix.

It looks like a great plan. Airdrop to other coins could considerably expand our community. But which ones should be the selected? BTC, LTC and PPC have good reputation, and are well distributed. They might be the reasonable targets.

I don't know.  It would be very difficult to get the word out to every BTC holder.  Such a large % of the airdrop would be wasted sitting in limbo until they figured out free PTS were given out and that could realistically be never.

I don't see the reason that we need to keep PTS1 alive.
+5%
the only reason PTS1 alive is for 3i to dump their coins

I3 should do it's best to halt trading on PTS1 a day or 2 before the snapshot.  It's beyond unethical in my opinion for I3 to dump their PTS on unsuspecting buyers and create a situation where we can do the same.

I seem to be the only one buying any PTS these days.  I think every buy order over the last 2 days has been me.  Maybe I'm the idiot. :-\

Spring ends June 20.

I would bet a 1-2btc that they don't take another snapshot until at least the AGS funding is over.

The more I think about this, I have this thought that "CryptoShares" sounds better and is more understandable than crypto-equities. just, IMHO.

** add **

Maybe it's even a better term for Bitcoin 2.0, because wtf is Bitcoin 2.0?, anyway?

I disagree.  The problem isn't in the term "shares" or "equity".  The public already understands these terms from the financial and real estate markets.  The problem is "crypto".  It's a scary sounding word.

Picking up a crap load of cheap PTS now. Sold it all after the BTSx snapshot, buying back now.  8)
congratulations for picking the winning team :-)

I never left the team.  I donated another 5btc to AGS since the snapshot.  Now I want to stockpile PTS at these prices.

* "According to Herodotus, the Lydians were the first people to use gold and silver coins and the first to establish retail shops in permanent locations.[12] It is not known, however, whether Herodotus meant that the Lydians were the first to use coins of pure gold and pure silver or the first precious metal coins in general. Despite this ambiguity, this statement of Herodotus is one of the pieces of evidence often cited in behalf of the argument that Lydians invented coinage, at least in the West, even though the first coins were neither gold nor silver but an alloy of the two"

mental note: never work for a bank if you don't want to be ostracized by crypto community. even if it frees you to work on crypto full-time afterwards.

It's one thing to work for a bank...and quite another to work for criminal enterprises that pose as "banks" because it gets them closest to the centralization of power they need to be above the law.  Goldman Sachs is one of the largest of these institutions and the fact that anyone from GS is a part of Ethereum should call them into question.  The moment these types of questions become unpopular is the moment the rest of society signs onto something that will inevitably become the world from which we currently are trying to evolve.

You sound like such an idiot when you say things like this.

How come the description for PTS says owners get 10% of DACs, but it doesn't say that for AGS?
