Title: Public Testnet?
Post by: clout on December 05, 2015, 07:18:57 pm
When can we get a public test net up so that people can better test out features?

Setting one up is quite easy

if you want one on local network it's even easier:

Setting up a testnet is not easy for a total newbie. The whole point of a public demo/testnet is to offer a simple way for anybody to try the wallet and all features of the blockchain.

This has been on the short term roadmap for a month now:

1.  Prevent margin call from being triggered unless the price feed is less than call price  (popular demand)
2.  Refund 99% of order placement fees on cancel
3.  Split order-fill fees with referrers for all trades involving BTS
4.  Launch a Demo/Dev chain that gives all signups a significant balance and an opportunity to play with all of the features.

I'm not sure it's worth it to divide the client's attention like that. He can already browse the wallet's features without even signing up. What would  be more productive is to show newbies how to quickly top up their account and trade.  Have a short overlay tutorial on the first login.
