We're writing 'Flash Boys 2.0' right now with Bitshares :)

Screw the oligarchs of finance...they're about to be overthrown.

I think not so easily, but that day will come eventually.

As the tech advanced and societies changed thru history, governing and financial systems changed. So I have no doubt that the financial system will change. But someday in the distant future, blockchain technology will also be "overthrown". Maybe we wont see that day but still...

@bytemaster can you please get rid of the reference to nasdaq transaction processing speed. even a cursory investigation demonstrates that the information you provided is false. it's rather concerning that you are creating a securities exchange without knowing much about the industry...

Could you please provide more accurate information I can quote.

Press release from 2013:

"Approximately 25 billion messages pass through NASDAQ OMX's U.S. equities and options systems on an active day, which amounts to over 1 million transactions per second in a trading day. During volatile periods, peak message traffic can be double."

Here is some earlier discussion about this.

Assuming a 'message' is a transaction then 25 billion tx/ day mean 290k tx/s.

Is the market open 24h a day? You assume messages are evenly distributed to 24 hours.

Technical Support / Re: This is how to compete with credit cards
« on: July 13, 2015, 07:04:21 pm »
I would like some feedback from devs on this.

What incentives do I have to use bitUSD over my credit card.

Currently, and most likely for the next 5 years, my credit card is more convenient and I pay no charges.

I pay no fees to my credit card either. That is because it is from the bank which my company deposits my salary to. Now, only if I got payed with bitUSD....

BItcoin is difficult right now! But, maybe it is good for BitShares :D

Everytime i have to use Bitcoin - it is just not as good, as it could be!

@lakerta06 i had the same problem for a couple of days. It was just a terrible expierience, i had to wait till the next day. So hopefully it will go fast for you.

It confirmed and I got my BTS. Thanks everybody!

Could you pls Provide Transaktion ID . is maybe your Transaktion still unconfirmes ? Ceck it via blockchain.info

https://blockchain.info/tx/f97f0abae87ef4aebb565e77231ccd3ce9325eb3e0c6a39a583ae12b1802c2d2

Yes you are right. But why is it not confirmed still? It has transaction fee, And it is included in a block. What makes it unconfirmed, I dont understand.

I guess I should have not send directly from an exchange  :-[

Hi,

I have sent some bitcoins to buy BTS more than 2 hours ago. My order is still pending? It was a quick order so should have executed already.

What might be the problem?

thanks.

General Discussion / Re: Announcing Brownie Points (BROWNIE.PTS)
« on: July 04, 2015, 02:11:33 pm »
Bytemaster, I bet you have more important things to do than tracking who earns your favor. If finally the BROWNIE.PTS will have real value (by being sharedropped upon), then their distribution should be quite fair and systematic, otherwise it will only be a dividing factor later. If BROWNIE.PTS do not have value, then I wonder why you would take so much time trying to evaluate who deserves them.

Is Ags/pts a dividing factor? Early comers / early adapters take a bigger risk. Why should they not profit more?

That said i still think this is an experiment.

I'm deleting this post because I find it hard to state my opinion without negativity emanating from every key I press. That isn't good for the project.

We wouldn't want to ruin the poetic circle jerk forming in this thread would we?

You guys do realize the origin of brownie points is from brown nosing.

I see this thread as a probable social experiment. Let bm play his game. For a while at least...
