General Discussion / Re: The worst thing for BTS is this forum
« on: November 02, 2015, 10:41:57 pm »
I'm 47. I have two teenagers, a house, a dog, and a wonderful wife. I lost 25 BTC today, and except my losses like an adult. I don't blame anybody... maybe you should do the same instead of acting like a whining little bitch. By far the most immature post I have read in the past year.

I didn't lose anything today. In fact I haven't lost anything in months... whining little bitch, BTC... are you in the right forum? This is BTS, correct?

Guys, you link to this forum on the Bitshares.org website!

Marketing is not really your forte is it? Prospects only need to read one or 2 post and say, ah yeah probably not for me... in fact, yes this post should probably be deleted. I will delete at the end of the day, so a few people get the message.

$600
$30k
$2k
$200.

The only thing you want is fiat currency.

Cash out and be done with us!  :o

I'm sure CNBC has a forum for you. ;)

Actually gold/silver...and you're preaching to the converted. The point, if you re-read it is all the negative crap posted on here, I only put some figures down to illustrate I have lost money too. As for the "tiny amount" comment, how much of your actual income to you invest, from trading time for money?

Guys,

I'm sick of coming on here and reading negative shit.

I have been actively reading this forum for over a year and its pretty much a bunch of superfluous BS, speculation and conjecture, in my opinion.

I think this forum should be used for 2 things.

1. Technical support
2. Developer updates, which should be at least bi-weekly

All this crap about oh the margin call fucked us, I'm out now, the project is dead, we're below other alt coins... this and that system is not working... not helpful, not needed.

I'd also love to get some clarity on just who is posting on here, eg

Who here is over the age of 30?
Who has a family to support and is taking this seriously?

I for one am both, and I'm not wealthy. I got in to cyrpto with about $600, saw it go way the hell up to about $30k, pulled about $2k out and lost the rest, I'm now all in to BTS and worth about $200.

I'm not bitching on here, I believe in it and I don't want to read about it.

Moderators, can I suggest you have 2 forums... 1 for tech support and relevant update info, 1 for for everything else.

Technical Support / Re: Operation Manual for Bitshares 2.0

So I went to BlockTrades.Us, selected Trade.Ltc in the dropdown under Bitshares 2.0 then convert to BTS

Put in my username
Generated a key as requested on the site

Copied and pasted the key into the memo section and sent my coins to Blocktrades as instructed.
I did not receive anything back as yet for 4 hours?

I tried to upload screen grabs but don't seem to have that option.

When I have some down time from work, or after work in the next few days I will write a dot point list of my perspective on functions, how I would expect things to work etc from a computer literate point of view, but very much a novice to this software and Bitshares in general.
Hi KD,

Our website would have instructed you to send your TRADE.LTC to the "blocktrades" account (with an identifying memo so we know the transaction payment is for). We don't show any TRADE.LTC -> BTS  requests during past 24 hours. Here's the URL for transactions to blocktrades, which shows we've haven't received any TRADE.LTC (other than one that just wanted a conversion to LTC):

https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/account/blocktrades

I realised later that I did not select the drop down menu, so actually sent you BTS my mistake, only .5 so no big deal

Ok thanks for clarification. Is there a specific algorithm used to calculate?

eg if BTS goes to $1 I'm presuming it will around 100 BTS to upgrade

Technical Support / Lifetime Membership
« on: October 31, 2015, 06:15:54 am »
Hi Guys,

I registered my account back in September 2014.

I have read some people have had their accounts default to Lifetime Membership when transferring to Bitshares 2.0 so would have expected my account to do this as well, is this correct?

I have just upgraded to Lifetime Membership fee, which is now 20,000 BTS which was about 1/3 of my holdings, I also read that this fee recently doubled and could be reduced at a later date.

What's going on here? Did I upgrade at exactly the wrong time?   ??? Should have my account defaulted to Lifetime membership as it is over 12 months old?

Thanks,
K

OK have had a quick look through the online documentation... I cannot see the really basic stuff as it seems to go straight to the advanced topics like "Blind Transfers" etc. I'm talking about the basic functions and knowledge base for the complete novice user, eg your brother, parents, neighbour who is interested having a look at it, but has no technical knowledge.

Examples like your Account Name is your Bitshares 2.0 receive key (I didn't know that).
Setting up an address book or contact list.

There is a mention of this in the top of the Stealth Transfers page at http://docs.bitshares.eu/user/StealthTransactions.html#adding-a-contact

And this makes sense to me, but I cannot find my Account Public key and have no idea where to look for it?

Anyone feel free to wade in here and tell me to back off, say "Hey its a work in progress", I don't get offended easily. I'm just trying to get my head around the basic functions before I put anymore money in to it, or refer it to anyone else.

*Update* So I walked through it and sent myself some coins via BlockTrades.Us, the key is provided once you action the transfer, its fast, it works well... but I think it needs to be documented to make it easy to understand.

Good work!  :D This is definitely what I was after and I shall spend quite a bit of time reading through it.

Can I suggest (if its not already) that you sticky this link in bold letters and make it very obvious to anyone who visits the forum. I think it should also be linked on the Bitshares site as clear understanding will help promote mass adoption.

Technical Support / Operation Manual for Bitshares 2.0

Hi Guys,

I'm impressed with the new software and I have successfully transferred my balance.

I found myself needing to ask basic questions about how to use Bitshares 2.0 in a recent post, all questions were answered promptly which is great, and made logical sense after explained, but were not really clear to me at the outset.

I am wondering is there an operational manual for Bitshares 2.0 which covers the basic functions such as importing, tranfers, gateways, exchanges etc?

Thanks,
K

But from your previous msgs, i thought you had already created an account. Do you have an account now that you can see?

I have upgraded from Bitshares previous wallet to Bitshares 2.0, my account status says "Basic Account" so my understanding is yes I have an account.

My account name is kurtduncan
My ID is 1.2.28979

If I tried to exchange my TRADE.LTC at https://blocktrades.us/ I only got the option to trade for Litecoin.
I now see that something has changed here and I can trade for BTS, which is good, but it is asking for a Bitshares 2.0 receive address which is what I am used to, eg generate/supply address for funds to be sent to... but, I cannot see any reference to a Bitshares 2.0 receive address within the software?

Its really still not clear to me guys, and I have half a clue as to how wallets and transfers work...

Usually its generate a key, send coins to that key. This is how it has always worked for me to date, so not sure what to do or think about this? I've clicked the link at https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/exchange/trade/TRADE.LTC_BTS

and I'm asked to create an account or import an existing wallet. I can see nothing in the overview section pertaining to buy/sell Trade.Ltc only a history of transactions.

When I go back to my Deposit/Withdraw section the BTC key is now gone from under BlockTrades.us and there is nothing under CCDEK at all. *Edit: BTC now back in withdraw section*

Can we go through this in laymen terms as I would expect this basic process of transferring funds to be really simple, and it isn't. If I have a fair bit of experience with transferring coins and using wallets, and I'm confused, what hope do we have making it clear for potential new investors?

To summarise: Where is my BTS key? How do I transfer BTC to Bitshares 2.0 and exchange it for BTS?

OK that all pretty much makes sense, good response guys thank you.

Just still not quite understanding where or how to trade my TRADE.LTC for BTS, I cannot find anything like this on the internal exchange, tried searching for LTC etc.

I have also tried trading it on the Blocktrades site, but seems I can only trade for Litecoin?

Where is the actual market as mentioned below?

Welcome! :)

You can go to the TRADE.LTC : BTS market and trade the ltc you received from blockktrades against BTS.

They have big buy walll up so should be easy to sell.

OK penny has dropped, Blocktrades is a 3rd party exchange which I actually sent my Litecoin to, they then forwarded to my Bitshares 2.0 account, correct?

I presume they buy/sell Bitcoin as well based on what I am looking at here?

So from this can I conclude that we have one exchange on board at this time, with more to follow?

Does this also mean trade.ltc or trade.btc can only be traded on this exchange?
