General Discussion / Re: mesh networking, last mile problem, and BTSX

USD has been doing fine and is already decentralized in the sense that it is managed by a democratically elected government.

I recommend you start by reconsidering every individual word in this sentence.   :)

I know it's pointless to even have a conversation with libertarian ideologues, but yes USD buying power has had very low volatility for many many decades and followed a smooth predictable trend line.  This makes it very useful as currency and unit of account, because it has been easy to predict how much it will be worth, and over the period of a few years its worth is pretty stable.  The same cannot be said for gold (whose buying power is EXTREMELY volatile), or for the dollar when it was on the gold standard.

But of course, there is not much point in even trying to discuss this with libertarian ideologues.

I actually think you are trolling.

hmm.. does btsx <-> bitusd/bitasset count?
Not sure how a DAC / blockchain is supposed to get a license   :-\
This.

I mean the DAC is all around world. On the internet. So who is going the issue a license? UN?

who will be the first to create BitBolivar :)

  "asset_reg_fee": "227,978.15040 BTSX",

I think it should be Market issued. Not user issued.

Ags are an abstract concept, not an actual token. You can claim the *rewards* from ags by importing your donating wallet into a DAC which honored ags. In your case, you could claim DNS (go ask in "keyid" subforum)

Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

The "abstract concept" mentioned above has been illustrated several ways, but I think this may be the clearest:

http://bitshares.org/bitshares-airdrop-theory/

In this case, the independent DNS developer has recognized the public record of your donation to the BitShares Trust AGS fund as a good reason to choose you to receive some free promotional samples. This particular developer indicates above that he sees it as a way of rewarding (thanking) you for helping to make the toolkit he is using possible.

Hi Stan, the link you gave refers to Lotto-Shares as an example of share distribution. However, pointing to a failed start-up is not a good idea even if the subject is the distribution. That last section should be rewritten to direct people to Bitshares Music or DNS. imho

General Discussion / Re: Our most immediate needs: a good wallet

Agree, a user friendly wallet is quite important for new users. Dev team should keep improving it, or develop other wallet, like web wallet, app..
+5% Definitely.

I have introduced one of my collegues to BTSX, and sent him a few to play with. He said "Looks promising, but I would only buy when the client bugs are fixed."

He just could not trust the client as is.

I mean really, what's he going to do with all the spare time once Bitshares is off and running?

Drinking his scotch on his private island?

I don't think it's anything personal.  It's just business. It's not an argument that can even be won. The buggy whip industry did not want to see the emergence of horseless carriages.  Miners don't want to see the demise of mining.

:)

Whether it's personal or not is irrelevant. My point is it's a vulnerability, a potential weakness and point of attack. The whole I3 team should be well aware of the implications of the technology they're building, and who it will affect. Those are mighty powerful groups and I'd be shocked if those forces haven't been discussed or are considered too distant to worry about now. Perhaps so, but when then?

At some point the giants will awake and try to stop their discomfort. Is I3's blindly gambling they can design a revolutionary tech, build it, test it, refine the design and get it marketed and adopted by enough people fast enough so it can't be stopped?

That depends on when the giants awake, and if BitShares has enough of the process completed to make squashing the irritation too costly or impractical.

The way I see it is the cats already out of the bag. Pandoras box has been opened. Destroy I3 and someone else will pick up the torch. The vision will persist.

The real terrorism is the centralized mainstream media pumping the fear...

I just want to add my two bits on the tax issue, with a real world example.

Disclaimer: I am not a tax expert.

Any gamer here knows or heard about diablo3 and its in game market I think. And it also had the real money option. You could buy/sell game items for real money or in game gold.

There were lots of bots, scanning the market and placing buy/sell orders for in game gold. With the aim of increasing their total in game gold, so they can sell it for real money.

To my knowledge, there is not a case of taxation for "in game gold/in game item" trades. So why should BitAsset/BTSX trades be taxable? (Unless BTSX counts as "money")

Then again, I am no tax expert.

KeyID / Re: Pre-allocate share as "Dev DNS"?
« on: April 07, 2014, 10:52:56 am »
I want to ask a question before just saying this/this/that % is "ok with me" or "I think."

Toast, How much of a time are you expecting to save with this move? At the end, what we are agreeing is giving up (from the position of having 50/50) our shares for faster development right?

So, If we take this path, say in 5 years, will my 90% be more valuable compared to the case where you give 100% and depend on only Invıctus' help.

When agreeing on such a desicion, this should be the perspective IMHO.

That said, you can still go with 10/10/80 :)

Thanks for your frank explanation. Judging from the great differences between the original strategy and the one implemented under your leadership, I feel so grateful that you are in charge now, abandoned the POW.

My question :
The unspent pts/btc through AGS donation can get huge amounts of bts. How will you spend these bts ? The DACs R&D or 3I investors (Bitfund.pe and Mr Li) profit ?

General Discussion / Re: BitShares X Status Update
« on: February 27, 2014, 09:20:49 am »
Well, so long as someone else is willing to take over the short positions....

I think the way I will solve all of these fee issues is to accumulate BitUSD and simply sell it into the market at the highest bid and take the BTS received and destroy that.  Keep things simple and restore balance to the force.

I tought we did not use force here.  :) balance to the source maybe? ;D

General Discussion / What happens to BTS when someone dies - INHERITANCE
« on: February 20, 2014, 09:49:22 am »
Did anybody mention death and inheritance issue before on this forum? What happens to my BTS, PTS etc shares when I die, assuming noone else has my private keys?

I don't know if you have plans for this but here is my idea:

Add inheritance capability to Keyhotee. For example, I select an inheritor account for my belongings. If I do not make any transactions for an extended amount of time, all my belongings are transferred to the inheritor account.

What do you think?
