General Discussion / Re: Testing Stealth UI
« on: March 12, 2016, 03:08:33 am »
I have added remote backups...  I was able to create Private accounts see them backed up to the server.   The encryption changed so don't expect any old TEST wallets to work.  You should be able to delete your old wallet under Settings -> Wallet Management Console..   If you delete all old wallets you'll get to use the faucet signup again.

Here is a quick video about the server backups:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIey1bwgt9k

Be aware, you will not see a transfer receipt if you send to an account in your own wallet; you can however use the "show receipt" link in the history to see it.  However, there are a lot of bug in the transfers.. I could not see the history and found it really hard to test.  That is minor stuff but too annoying to really mess with now.  I think that needs to be fixed up before we spend time on that.

I was able to backup new accounts, transfers, and contacts on the server and as you can see start using the restore feature.  It is easy to get into a conflict with the server if you start testing local backups.  I'll keep working on that, it will be stable soon.

Thanks for the update.  Rolling out stealth would coincide VERY nicely with the sudden rise in price.  Strike while the iron's hot.

I guess it is to be expected that we would retrace.  We went up far further than I expected far faster than I expected.  How long do you all think we are going to slip back down?

Going up a significant % along with massive volume is great even if this retreats.  It should open the eyes to those who put off BTS.

1.
Liquidity with more market pairs will attract new traders.  Traders on Poloniex for example want to get in and out of a lot of different crypto currencies, they may not care at all about the underlying technology.  If BTS can provide a fraction of this, we can attract them as low hanging fruit.  We should however be strategic and not have knee jerk reactions how to get this done.  Perhaps we can compare the current options (if any are actually required) on this Friday's mumble.

2.
Any updates on API support providing ease of access to developers?  Dev's will want something easy to work with and build applications around.

3.
Any chance of integration with something like BitMessage for secure messaging?  I keep thinking back to the Keyhotee days and do not see any other crypto going after this feature.  Even if this needs to be tied to a third party service like adding a troll box to the exchange.

Didn't you hear the mumble?

Dannostein already has code for another project he could monnetize here, and we could have a multisig sidechain in 3 months effectively allowing bitcoins to trade on our 3 second smartchain, sucking all the bitcoins off the bitcoin blockchain and onto ours and creating perfect pegs in the process.

Total estimated cost:

$200k, a mere $5,000 Ethereum IPO investment (sold today)

We would effectively become bitcoin's "lightning network"

If some code already exists is it possible for a rough proof of concept?  Having something to show this is even possible would help fundraising efforts.

General Discussion / Lifetime Membership LTM payment options
« on: February 26, 2016, 08:46:08 pm »
From a traders speculation standpoint, why would someone pay the LTM in BTS?  Most here believe BTS is at rock bottom and can significantly go up in price far outweighing investing 20k bts in a lifetime membership at this point.  Should we instead put a FiAT amount for an LTM?

My next question is where does the LTM fee go?

Technical Support / Re: Import keys into existing wallet? Do they merge?
« on: February 26, 2016, 08:36:51 pm »
Thanks Xeroc.  My confusion comes from are we importing the account name & balance or just the balance?  Based on your response the account name for 0.9x are gone and we are simply importing a balance?

General Discussion / Re: bitSHARES - As True Shares and Not a Currency!
« on: February 26, 2016, 08:34:26 pm »
Any way, I will not be responding in this thread anymore. It is useless. It is either a very bad idea or an idea that is just too early for BTS to grasp and realize...  Assuming it is the former I have no desire my effort to improve BTS to be largely viewed as some form of attack on BTS.

It is not a bad idea however it may be too early for BTS.  Any traders short term currently using a 3rd party exchange will not want to only trade bts vs FiAT or precious metals.  They want to trade crypto.  Until there are price feeds and markets for crypto derivatives the traders will simply pull off the BitUSD etc... and put it through a gateway such as CCEDK.

What comes first, the chicken or the egg?  Should we be adding additional markets enough though the volume will not be there short term?

Technical Support / Import keys into existing wallet? Do they merge?
« on: February 26, 2016, 07:35:16 am »
I'm starting to feel comfortable importing my keys from 0.9x however what exactly happens in the following scenario:

I have already registered a separate name on openledger and have a balance.  When visiting bitshares.openledger.info it automatically loads this wallet.

-When I click "import keys" what exactly will happen?
-Will it create a 2nd "default" wallet in the management console?  Thus having to select between the two?
-Will I have 1 wallet with both registered names?
-When I backup the wallet after importing, does it backup both registered names?
-Is it best practice for safety and security to first "log out" of my newer wallet by clicking delete and then import the 0.9x keys fresh?  I believe I would now have two separate wallet.bin files to manage?

Any walk through on how accounts are linked to the wallet files would be greatly appreciated!

Who exactly is the target of this proposal?

At a high level people with BTS on exchanges want to trade BTS along with other crypto.  One minute they hold BTS, the next something else they think will rise.  A few % may not be enough for them to be motivated to move their bts onto the internal exchange.

What would stop 3rd party exchanges from taking advantage of this?

Almost a double edge sword when it comes to liquidity.  BTS on outside exchanges are not being used as collateral to bring market pegged assets into existence.

Is there final documentation on the stealth implementation specifics?  How it works, capabilities, best practices etc...
