I strongly believe that this referral system can incentivize people to help BitShares grow. It is also something that partners can plug into and fund the system's growth in ways that you and I cannot yet imagine. Once this technology is fully ready for prime time (getting much closer), then the referral system can power a ground-up marketing push. Time will tell, but I'm guessing it will be well worth the cost. 500 other coins, and eventually Bitcoin itself, may agree when we leave them in our dust.

Technical Support / Re: Vested Balances

By the way, that "Wallet" button looks more like a title. It is far from obvious that someone is supposed to click on it for importing purposes. In the GUI fix, I suggest making the wallet import feature more obvious. Thanks.

I will gladly vote for your delegate witness.

General Discussion / Re: Openledger import keys

Did you export your keys in JSON from version 0.9.3? As far as I know, that is the only way they can be imported into Graphene. An earlier wallet backup probably will not work for import. Here are the directions (below). If you did this and it still didn't work, then someone more technical than me will need to give you some advice.

General Discussion / Re: Article on Banx

Does Ian DeMartino own coin-journal dot net? If so, Mr. DeMartino's entire "article" is in reality a disguised informercial, written for profit at the expense of Mark Lyford.

His bio says "co-founder of coinjournal.net". Yes, I think either there was some outside interest involved or else Mr. D. grew up believing that journalists get noticed by writing odd hit pieces. If I were a source, I sure wouldn't go to him with a story.

I read your article. I have no knowledge regarding the content and have no comment on it whatsoever.

I would like to comment on the technical proficiency of your "article" though, because the crypto space is sorely in need of credible journalism.

The article was very poorly written. You should not expect informed individuals to read it and take you seriously. It does not conform to any technical writing standards that would be required by a legitimate publication (1). Most of it is conjecture and opinion on your part. The subject could make a strong legal case it is libelous (2). The article in no way attempts to adhere to the 4 core principles outlined by the SPJ Code of Ethics (3).

We are in the "wild west" of cryptocurrency. Responsible journalism and PR are critical to helping us make informed decisions about how to participate. Please consider learning what it takes to contribute to the advancement of this innovative, world changing space.

The above comment nailed it perfectly for me. VERY heavy on conjecture. I have no way of judging the content. Time will tell if Mark L. is honest or not; there was some smoke before but never any fire proven. I personally wouldn't go into a business partnership with him, but I also would like to give him the chance to build an honest business here, which I will support. Beyond the content, no responsible writer makes those kinds of accusations and correlations without more and better information. The article was shit. Then to run Google ads playing up those rumors? That's some business you're running, Mr. D. I wouldn't want to be your lawyer.

I'm only joking with you about the name. It sounds like you have developed a great service. I hope you can add BitShares and some of our assets on there as well. Gateways are valuable!

This could be a bear trap followed by a return to the wedge formation. Otherwise if the medium-term downtrend resumes in the next 24 hours, we could see deeper lows well into the 1700s very quickly.

I can't believe any of you guys are looking at charts right now. The price or 'trends' you see are wholly irrelevant because of the upheaval of this upgrade and people having to move their BTS. THe one thing experienced technical traders have told me is to STAY OUT of the market whenever there's big news...unless you are damn sure of the reaction. Frankly, I'm not even looking at prices right now; I couldn't care less if BTS goes up or down. The price isn't real until things settle.

I think some of us found out an important and annoying issue, and it should be highlighted somewhere.
Most of you, experienced geeks, use linux, so mostly Firefox but the average user is getting errors with either IE and Chrome in Windows, using the light wallet and/or OpenLedger

Agreed. I'm about as non-technical as anyone here. Initially, I had a lot of trouble with the wallet in windows 10 and with OpenLedger in all three browsers. But Clayyop's tip about the clock really helped. When I finally got it working, let me tell you, this BitShares is a beautiful thing...worth the wait! Kudos to Dan and the team for some terrific work, and I'm sure the GUI stuff will continue to be addressed in the near future. Can't wait for the referral program and to see these other businesses power themselves on this chain.

433
Thanks for the tip. That's funny. My clock is set to update automatically, but every time I re-synch it manually, my imports or transfers go through successfully for a little while. Then they stop working again with the same error code. And after I manually re-synch, they work again for the next few minutes. Strange quirk, but thank you, it does help.

434
You mean the system clock?

I get this error trying to import:

Failed to broadcast the transaction:
