I for one would love to see the BitShares governance structure (versus others) debated in the broader community. So why not write a BitShares media piece to lead that discussion?

there is an epic divide for some reason between charles and dan from past.  where i think those disagreements would actually create two camps that powerfully contribute to bitshares while also competing with often opposing ideas...would be cool.

but i do agree that it would be nice to see.  everyone ignoring bitshares' answers to bitcoins current problems does tend to offend those who have invested in the project.  I can definitely appreciate why you think he should have put bts in there as a proposed solution (dpos/graphene), but because of this history i dont think we can really ever expect charles to mame bitshares or plug it in any positive way.

Interesting and difficult dynamic of you ask me...though i think that this energy could be directed toward more beneficial means.

602
So you moved my post to random? Fucking seriously? Fuck it Fav, I won't post any articles or items on Bitsharestalk anymore.

hi charles, lots of members from our community like you. You are  valuable asset in our community.

Just like BM, i am re-thinking your pow/pos design for bts mining  which you pointed out before dpos was in place . Time just proved you were right[emoji1]  . ether's  pow mining has brought lots of  miners into the game ....

just so you guys know, there was something called sparkle that ar one point a dev released that did precisely that but didnt work out :/

regardless, i have been asked by charles to let everyone know he has deleted his account and will not be responding anymore.

The asset I share with you today will be worth exactly 1 bts if whatever AFC team makes it to the superbowl wins the superbowl.  It will be worth exactly 0 bts if any other result happens.  Since the future is uncertain its current value is somewhere in between.  You may sell it now for whatever you can get for it, or wait and see if you are lucky.

At this point you are unable to borrow more of this asset into existence in the GUI, and must the CLI.  I am hoping this is resolved soon.

Thank you greatly for bringing this to my attention.  Looks like bitshares has prediction market makers here just waiting to pounce! :)

Please let me bring it to everyones attentions that there are others working behind the scenes who are making this possible as well.  The beyond bitcoin team like Testz, emailtooaj, joeyd, jabbajabba, tuckfheman.

These people have all been instrumental as well by doing work behind the scenes.  So they are also a great sharedrop target.  I should have added them, but from now on will add a special box for them.

QUANT and SPORTS.SBLAFC are great ideas both.  Thanks for telling our community about them and feel free to continue bringing us updates on these or any other projects!

General Discussion / Re: Crowd Donations for Mike Hearn Hangout
« on: January 15, 2016, 05:52:37 pm »
Nice idea. But can't you just stick with BTS or at least with your Brownie Points? I'm not sure we need more UIAs with questionable value floating around.

I no longer am BM's Brownie Distributor for reasons of not wanting to have conflicts of interest.  I am still very happy though that BM asked me to do it...because it is one of the main reasons we got the Sharebot up and running--to make it easier for him to distribute them himself, but to also enable EVERYONE else to distribute their own tokens :)

As for sticking with BTS, I am asking specifically for donations in BTS.  So you can check that off the list.  Hope that clarifies :)

General Discussion / Crowd Donations for Mike Hearn Hangout
« on: January 15, 2016, 05:43:59 pm »
I am reaching out to the community regarding mike hearns new article about bitcoin's problems and the possiblity of crowdsourcing donations to pay him to come on for a hangout.

I will be giving 1 SilverTicket for each 1000BTS donated.  SilverTickets are my way of giving a little extra to those who sacrifice for our community and as such will be used to enter special events.  Naturally, this event with Mike Hearn, if we can get him on...would be one such event.  :)

You can donate to this in two ways:
1) use sharebits to send it directly through the forum (makes it transparent and easier for me to track in order to reward you with the appropriate silverticket amount).
2) send to browniedistro with memo: "mike hearn"

This will probably be answered when Dan gives the usual update but in case he doesn't mention it..

- The first milestone of the STEALTH implementation was scheduled to be finish around January 15th (today). We know there are always delays, could you tell us if you're close to achieve it?

- Could you sometime around this next week provide us with a budget on how much would Bond Markets cost us if you were to implement it? Even if a rough estimate. I think that would be interesting to know since it's something people have showed interest in. It would be cool to debate to see if the shareholders who use the forum think it's worth it vs the cost you present us with.
Edit: Noticed this was basically the same as Bhuz's last question.

I think that eventually a lot of people in the community would like to know:

1) How much would it cost to implement a simple GUI for PM, making it easier and straightforward to use, hiding all the backend mechanics such as the need to borrow/sell etc.

2) Bond Market. Could we pay a couple of days of your time to make a general analysis about:
- Is it really feasible?
- How hard it would be and what are the biggest problems to work out?
- Some ideas to solve those problems.
- How many man hours would it need, and how much would it cost?

3) Bond Market with Margin Trading (lending + shorting the lended)
AFAIK one of the biggest problem basically is that since all the transactions/lending would be publicly viewable on the blockchain, an attacker could see exactly how much money he need to cause a margin call?
-About this, could the STEALTH feature be used to hide this sensitive data and solve that problem?

Edit: made some edits here and there xD

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: *CI/UI/UX Design / Web Development - cass
« on: January 14, 2016, 10:22:09 pm »
Cass has been integral to the defree that i cant believe people wouldnt want to buy him at a significant discount.

Philosphical discussion aside...how do we expect to get the talent to compete with badasses like cass if we are unwilling as a community to recognize such value and distribute tokens to those who provide such amazing value?  People like cass are the REASON people like cass will show up to help provide extra work.

To put it another way...would you want to compete for a spot on an allstar team or a little league one?  Network effect doesnt just fall in our laps...it will cost us.  bts tokens are worth nothing though if we are not wise enough to get them into the hands of people who will bring network effect both directly and indirectly through their work.

What are your team's thoughts on how to best move forward to:
1) create space for new developers
2) maintain a level of control that gives certainty ti bitshares market perception?

ask you questions either here or in Here

From now on I will be giving special tokens to those who participate and ask questions, so make sure to use this as a means to bring more and varied opinions onboard!

Freebie / Re: funding my sharebot account.
« on: January 12, 2016, 04:49:32 pm »
Hello all

I sent 10k bts to my sharebot account about 3 hours ago, but I haven't seen the credit yet.  I copy pasted the memo field, and I am pretty sure I did it right.  Is there an issue with the bot, or did I make a mistake?

Let me know.  I was gonna try to spread some holiday cheer, but now I have to go to work.

Merry Christmas

@puppies have you checked yet?

General Discussion / Re: Factom-like feature in Bitshares
« on: January 12, 2016, 06:11:51 am »
Why?  Why would anyone use this on Bitshares blockchain?   It might be reset on v3.0 and lose the value from the feature you are trying to sell.  How much does it cost to store a hash on the 2 networks?  Is BitShares even cheaper than Bitcoin?

It is really about the frontend software to some extent. I guess if the datastore functionality of BitShares was suitable it could be better simply because another parrallel chain would not be needed. Regardless, those Factom guys do a lot of networking and marketing etc. Just because you build a competitor doesn't mean people will be lining up to use it..

i like the idea. why not have it and at the very least use it as a community as we grow.  would this be an fba?

General Discussion / Beyond Bitcoin Coverage Expansion?
« on: January 11, 2016, 10:23:48 pm »
As bitshares 2.0 and graphene grow, i would like to ask everyone which projects that have been foundational for the ecosystem.  Please list these projects below if you would like to see hangouts with them and ill use it as a list of projects our community would like to highlight about bitshares.

As always, thank you everyone for what you do and remember bitshares is all of us and there are many projects worth covering.
