Can someone help me understand.
I used Bitshares desktop app to sent BTS to 'coinegg-main'. It said that is was sent and that is was included in block 40789144. Looking at https://bitshares-explorer.io/#/blocks/40789144 I see the transaction and it was sent to BTS7N3Y2ozxLvnRk5z2bQXHoTY431aLnizi1KhjcU1CreYtXrZM8C

How is the name 'coinegg-main' linked to 'BTS7N3Y2ozxLvnRk5z2bQXHoTY431aLnizi1KhjcU1CreYtXrZM8C'?

When I use the same explorer(bitshares-explorer.io) and search for 'coinegg-main' that transaction does not show but some others do. When I search for 'BTS7N3Y2ozxLvnRk5z2bQXHoTY431aLnizi1KhjcU1CreYtXrZM8C' nothing is found? Where is my disconnect?

My apologies if that is a stupid question but I would really like to find out what happened because Coinegg is is claiming the funds haven't arrived and I need to figure out how to recover my funds. Thank you!

General Discussion / Need help recovering my bitshares from brain key
« on: August 31, 2016, 11:26:17 pm »
In the past i sued the site https://wallet.bitshares.org/#/accounts to store my bitshares. It looks like that webpage has been abandoned. The certificate expired but I can still log in. Unfortunately it doesn't connect to the network and I don't know how to get my coins out. I have my 12-word brain key my password and a string that looks like its a json file format that I labeled backup. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be able to use any of my information anywhere. My backup file doesn't work at https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/existing-account. Please keep in mind I set this up pre BitShares 2.0.

Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks a bunch.
Marc

I have a wallet on wallet.bitshares.org. I don't believe I have a backup file (at leas the ones I have don't seem to work) but I do have the original 16 word seed phrase.

I tried to use the seed on bitshares.openledger.info and bitshares.org/wallet/ with no success.
When I try to go to wallet.bitshares.org Chrome won't even allow me to load the page. See message below.

What am I missing here?

Thank you

wallet.bitshares.org normally uses encryption to protect your information. When Chrome tried to connect to wallet.bitshares.org this time, the website sent back unusual and incorrect credentials. This may happen when an attacker is trying to pretend to be wallet.bitshares.org, or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Chrome stopped the connection before any data was exchanged.

You cannot visit wallet.bitshares.org right now because the website uses HSTS. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later.

That actually worked to recover my USD and CNY balances. Thank you very much!
FYI, I only got it to work with the original backup file using the in-app console feature.

I do actually have a backup from a while back. The BTS are in there even those sent after the backup was made. Interestingly this is not true with some BitUSD and BitCNY. Why is that. Honestly it is not a lot of money I lost here but I feel this really shouldn't have happened and there should be a way to recover it.

When I try to log into my Windows Bitshare client with my password, It seems like it's trying to log in but then nothing happens. This is the same behavior with the correct or wrong password. When I select File | Export Wallet it does prompt me for a filename but once I give it one and press ok the software crashes. I've tried to figure out what causes this. I;ve tried several version including completely uninstalling and reinstalling the software. Long story short the same behavior can be replicated with any installed version using my wallet folder  %AppData%\BitShares\wallets\default. Does anyone have an idea what happened?
Thanks
