General Discussion / Presenting Commmitee Guidelines
« on: December 09, 2015, 06:29:41 am »
Dear Community,

before creating any more committee proposals, the committee decided it needed to agree on a common set of rules how to do business in the future. It took a few weeks to get a draft document created and several revisions to get every current committee member to agree - major thanks go to cube for helping with this document.

General Discussion / Committee proposal to re-enable force settlement
« on: December 02, 2015, 06:00:13 pm »
Dear community,

Today, we tested the new version of xeroc's price script and have fine-tuned the configuration and the reported CNY price is VERY close to the real counterpart. All other asset prices have been improved too. Thank you very much to @cube @Bhuz and @xeroc for spending so much time yesterday and today for making it possible!

All witnesses have been instructed to upgrade to the newest pricefeed version.

This means we can finally re-enable the force settlement function and have done so in http://cryptofresh.com/p/1.10.19

Best regards
mindphlux

PS: Committee members who support this motion, please post here as well.

Stakeholder Proposals / Commitee guidelines for future proposals
« on: November 30, 2015, 10:01:14 am »
What did we learn after the last proposal? Here are my suggestions

The proposing committee member should

Present facts only, no emotions and no panic. Provide proof by the blockchain that supports your position. Committee members should not believe everything they hear, refer to the facts instead.
Avoid conflict of interest. If you're a company that is directly affected by a proposed change and you're a committee member, you should not vote yourself, as this is a clear conflict of interest. It's like a voting for a witness pay increase when you're both a committee and witness.
Do not rush proposals and decisions. 24 hours is not enough, a week is probably good. Give the community time to discuss and to unvote the committee supporters if nescessary.
There may be emergency situations that warrent a shorter response time but one REALLY needs to evaluate if a emergency situation exists.
Do not let the 1 hour review period be on a saturday/sunday when perhaps most of the committee is not behind the computer, that is why a week long review period is nescessary.

Please discuss.

Thanks

Stakeholder Proposals / Better organisation
« on: November 19, 2015, 08:25:23 am »
For the future, I would suggest for any parameter that we want to change:

1) first internal discussion to see if a specific parameter change would have 50% +1 approval
2) make a poll for each parameter change and see community reacton
3) make the actual proposal, 7 days in advance

We need much better communication!

Stakeholder Proposals / Commitee: mindphlux
« on: October 27, 2015, 07:23:19 pm »

I originally wanted to step down after my last commitee proposal was successful, but the community is still not in control of the network, so I decided to be active again.

Agenda/Proposal:

- lower trading fees
- lower account creation
- increase community control of bitshares, that includes that BM should eventually step down from controlling everything. we need to take over!

However, since I'm also a elected witness, I will not vote for witness fee changes or propose any. That should keep me out of a potential conflict of interest.
When there are enough commitee members so I'm no longer needed, I'll gladly step down

General Discussion / Account creation fee is 190 BTS - Why?
« on: October 26, 2015, 10:26:30 am »
Hello,

I've noticed that, since the last fee increase, the account creation fee is 190,29 BTS:

https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/block/324997

This is 38BTS after the 80% cashback.

I find this highly unusual that this wasn't mentioned by anyone yet. Having a fee over 100BTS means that it has to vest for 3 months, that means that the wallet provider has to make a large upfront investment so his business can be sustainable. It also means that he'll have a much longer turn even time because the fee has just doubled.

Is this really good and what we want? The community voted to have this fee at 95BTS, it was doubled in the last fee update.

Thank you

Stakeholder Proposals / Worker Proposal - Asset pool fee funding
« on: October 21, 2015, 08:55:59 am »
Dear community,

As the pool fees for USD, CNY, EUR, GOLD, SILVER are constantly empty, we've seen suggestions on the forum to create a worker proposal to constantly re-fill them. It's no solution that random community members refill these pools out of their own money.

The web wallet should be updated so support fee paying in BTS if the pool fund is empty, but it is not implemented yet.

My Proposal

  • Provide funding for fee pool funding for USD and CNY: 4000 BTS daily
  • Provide funding for fee pool funding for EUR, SILVER and GOLD: 2000 BTS daily
  • Total worker proposal funding: 300000 BTS
  • Total length of worker contract: 30 days
  • Vesting: 0 days, since we need fill the pool funds immediately
  • Create open source script that automatically funds a fee pool when it is empty: 10% of the total amount

The worker contract will start on October 23 00:00 GMT and will End on November 23 00:00. Funding is provided for a total of 27 days. The script will be published on github before Sunday.

Please vote for my worker bitasset-fund-pool
EDIT: Please vote for worker proposal object 1.14.4

HOW TO VOTE FOR THIS PROPOSAL IN THE CLI WALLET:

Quote
update_worker_votes <youraccount> {"vote_for" : [1.14.4], "vote_against" : [], "vote_abstain" : []} true

Thank you for bitcube and fav that helped to come up and create this proposal.

Regards,

Hi,

I looked in the CLI, but cannot find any commands that would allow me to create a worker proposal.

Thanks

General Discussion / Please provide liquidity in the bitUSD market!
« on: October 18, 2015, 07:33:55 pm »
Hi,

I just borrowed some bitUSD to cover the gap between settlement price and best ask. Please do the same. BitUSD buyers are already willing to buy bitUSD at 1.10 USD! So this is a great opportunity to ingnite this market!

Thanks

We're still under attack by account creation spammers, please see my commitee proposal here:

Dear community,

we're still being attacked by people that run bots to create domain-like names on our blockchain, hoping to sell them one day.

It seems that over 3000 accounts were created since launch. BM has adjusted the creation fee to 5 BTS. Unfortunately after lifetime cashback, that equals a 1BTS fee, which is not enough to deterrent those spammers.

Therefore, I propose to adjust the account creation fee to 95 BTS. This equals a net fee of 19 BTS after 80% cashback. Since the fee is still below 100 BTS, it will not vest for 90 days, thus causing no trouble for our public faucets.

Please vote for my commitee member mindphlux. I will send a transaction at around 8PM GMT+2 to change the fee, if I get enough votes.

Best regards

General Discussion / Testnet users/witnesses: Please publish your WS urls
« on: October 12, 2015, 07:37:09 am »
Hello,

The websocket at graphene.bitshares.org often crashes and the frontend has an option since yesterday to switch to a new one, but there's no list of public available websockets.

Please post your public websocket for testnet so it can be included in this dropdown.

Thanks,
mindphlux

Technical Support / Signing messages with private key
« on: October 05, 2015, 07:22:35 am »
Hello,

is it possible to sign a personal message with my private key in Graphene so someone can verify that I really own this account?

Bitcoin supports this.

Thanks
