Muse/SoundDAC / Streaming Music is Ripping You Off

If you subscribe to a subscription music service such as Spotify or Apple Music you probably pay $10 a month. And if you are like most people, you probably do so believing your money goes to the artists you listen to. Unfortunately, you are wrong.

The reality is only some of your money is paid to the artists you listen to. The rest of your money (and it’s probably most of your money) goes somewhere else. That “somewhere else” is decided by a small group of subscribers who have gained control over your money thanks to a mathematical flaw in how artist royalties are calculated. This flaw cheats real artists with real fans, rewards fake artists with no fans, and perhaps worst of all communicates to most streaming music subscribers a simple, awful, message: Your choices don’t count, and you don’t matter.

Peer Tracks: Your choices  count, and you matter :) Full article here : https://medium.com/cuepoint/streaming-music-is-ripping-you-off-61dc501e7f94

A interesting article  that shows all the problems that PeerTracks solves except nobody know yet about PeerTracks.

The biggest message out of the report is just the lack of technology adoption for the back end of the music industry," Berklee's Bargfrede says. "Streaming is now becoming the dominant method of music consumption. We need to figure out how to work with the streaming services in a way that makes sense to creators."

More specifically, the report calls for an industry-standard format for up-to-date information about the various types of music revenues, so artists could in effect monitor their royalties online the way consumers track their bank accounts. The authors also propose creating "a decentralized, feasible" database of global copyright ownership details.

« on: March 02, 2015, 09:15:04 pm »
I managed to install 0.6.2 and it was working but  my computer crashed (not related to Bitshares). I restarted the computer and then when I try to long in my Bitshares I have 3 moving dots that are going for a few seconds and then nothing happened. So I did uninstall everything delete everything except the wallet folder, reinstalled Bitshares but I when I try to login I got the same behavior . So basically no matter what I do I can  no longer log in my wallet. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Note : After further communication with multiple parties , this blog post was a result of misunderstanding .  It was supposed to send to the developers and marketeers to discuss further and provide inputs base on their opinions but instead made its way on the blog  due to misunderstanding and with some new information left out  .

Muse/SoundDAC / Can Music beat that ?
« on: December 23, 2014, 08:36:40 pm »
http://www.aux.tv/2014/12/pharrell-williams-earned-less-than-3000-for-43-million-happy-streams/

So Pharrell Williams earned less than $3,000 for 43 million "Happy" streams on Pandora. This is ridiculous. Imagine if Music&PeerTracks can do better than that  !!!

I tried to buy some bitUSD and my orders are in pending mode I can't cancel them. The order are not showing in "Open Buy BitUSD orders" section. Is this normal ? My version is 0.4.24.1.

It is been a while i din't trade so I may be missing something obvious. Thanks. ¸

Edit : Ok my order just expired and my balance it is back to normal. Still does not explain why it does not show in the order book and why I can't cancel it...

General Discussion / Venezuela needs bitUSD
« on: December 08, 2014, 03:41:42 am »
Another country where bitUSD could explode :  http://panampost.com/peter-sacco/2014/12/02/venezuelas-plummeting-bolivar-dips-into-hyperinflation/

We definitely need to translate everything in  Spanish. Clearly there is tremendous potential in Latin America for bitUSD.

I'm voting for matt608 for sure.

Follow My Vote / Alaska voting sytem
« on: November 04, 2014, 03:09:20 am »
If they only knew Bitshares exist :

Quote
When Alaska voters go to the polls tomorrow to help decide whether the U.S. Senate will remain in Democratic control, thousands will do so electronically, using Alaska’s first-in-the-nation internet voting system. And according to the internet security experts, including the former top cybersecurity official for the Department of Homeland Security, that system is a security nightmare that threatens to put control of the U.S. Congress in the hands of foreign or domestic hackers..
