Ronny, has openledger provided proof of solvency for any open.assets? I'd like to use them. I know they require trust but less trust would be nice.

please guys be cool and don't dump until we claim at least again the 4th place above litecoin..Let's make the difference for once..And please start providing some liquidity in the dex by not demanding absurb premiums for the bitassets..

If we all work together we can make this happen. We need some strong hands now.. :)

You'll have to pry my BitShares from my cold dead fingers with a crowbar before I give mine up.... ;D

If some people don't dump , they don't have money to put food on the table or paid by market rate .

I agree. I will never get why people here think it's a good idea to try to shame others for selling their personal property.

Bytemaster does not owe you an explanation for exercising his property rights. Doesn't matter if he sold or held. It's not his responsibility to use his stake to prop up the short term price or explain his trades to you.

@fav
"1. someone could hack openledger and modify the code (grab your pw) - man in the middle attacks are certainly possible. hope they add 2fa soon"

That is a bit disturbing.. I hadn't realized that until now..
So keeping bts in the webwallet of OL is much much less secure than keeping btc in my bitcoinwallet on my pc, since most probably no one will ever care to try and hack me but most probably people will attemp to hack OL?
So we are promoting a decentalized exchange which is vulnerable to hacks as any other centralized exchange? If that ever happens then we can kiss goodbye bts price for ever..

there's always some risk... you can use the light wallet or run the wallet html files locally in your browser as an alternative to OL

But no trading on OL without inputting your password into a web page that is hosted by openledger? Even if I take my wallet download and load it into the lite wallet I still might feel that my wallet with the current password is tainted. Perhaps @ccedk could weigh in here. I'm sure I just missed it but surely there is a page somewhere that tells a new user this. I would have done things differently if these assumptions are true. I have to believe that this has been addressed somehow although I lack the ability to figure that out.

Technical Support / A Little Help with security
« on: December 19, 2015, 09:41:19 pm »
So using openledger's web wallet, I have imported my 1.0 keys and claimed my balances into my new account. My questions are:

1. Is using the webwallet a security risk? If so, why? (I have searched but info on this isn't easy to find)
2. My passphrase on my 1.0 wallet was good but not great. My 2.0 account has a much better passphrase. Since my 1.0 keys are now imported and the balances claimed, is my 1.0 passphrase irrelevant? Do I need to do anything to protect those keys or the balances in them that continue to vest?
3. Assuming I keep my passphrase safe, is it safe to store the wallet file in a cloud service?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Identabit is using Graphene for their chain. They owe BTS nothing. They made an arrangement with a group of private devs called CNX to do so. These devs also owe BTS nothing. CNX chose to give BTS Graphene. Identabit chose to sharedrop. They didn't have to. Just like CNX didn't have to give BTS Graphene. Perhaps we should try to accept this new paradigm. It's my opinion that we as a community sound like whiny children right now. We do not own these devs or other chains that choose to sharedrop.

Hey Cryptonomex, you are already giving us a new toolkit and convincing a bunch of new chains to share drop on us. Can we have the name Graphene too? What about your cars? Can we have those too?

Wait what?! I thought we already go their cars as part of the social consensus!!?!

What kind of scam is this?!

<s/c> :P

I heard several of the devs have cars with doors that open upward. Not outword.... Upward... Like this..  \=/   ;)

OpenLedger / Forbes article out 2 PM UK time on July 16th 2015

Forbes article out 2 PM UK time16/7, would appreciate some love sent to CCEDK

Well, they will say something is not right, maybe Bitshares is not the one I should focus on afterall, otherwise they would support someone mentioning them over and over again. That's just my thoughts on that anyways, an that would be a real shame!

Ronny,

I am going to try to help you out here. You seem like a sincere guy and I think good things lie ahead for CCEDK. I would imagine some think like me so here you go....
I don't use centralized exchanges unless I absolutely have to. I am looking forward to using your service in 2.0 though! I think it's going to be great. I would like to point out a couple of things.

Your post kind of seems threatening in a veiled way (probably unintentional). That's not a good way to be a part of a community.

So far what you have done is said that centralized exchanges aren't safe and BTS 2.0 is the way to solve that. I agree. However, now it seems you are saying "go ahead and use my centralized exchange since I have spoken a lot of words about my intentions and about how great Bitshares is so I should be rewarded with increased liquidity". So far these are just words. I think it's possible that you do deserve a reward but for me personally that will come once BTS 2.0 is ready and you have followed through on your promise to be the first to move your platform to it and proved your competence.

I will tell you that if I need to move funds before all of this happens I will use your exchange but right now I view all centralized exchanges as a necessary evil. I do look forward to a great partnership between BTS and CCEDK.

Please don't be discouraged by my post. I am trying to help you craft your message. Maybe no one else shares my feelings here but I doubt it.

Sincerely,
D3adh3ad

Edit: added the words "it seems" to show that this is just my opinion

Are you concerned about serving US citizens without being registered as an MSB in the US ( you may be registered, I don't know)?

Cryptonomex is about to show the world that the problems that plague Bitcoin (paralysis in block size debate and inability to move forward) do not affect Bitshares. Relax everyone. Current system allows you to either adopt the change or not and you will. It will be fine.

Wouldn't you NOT want the price to be so high that the income stream cannot compensate for the people selling their free sharedrop?

Yes.  http://mashable.com/2015/04/12/silicon-valley-season-2-premiere-recap/

The Ripple fine is a signal to the market that the government has Ripple in it's giant pocket. It's purposeful.

In a normal startup company.  The investors would not be a bunch of chinese and western guys, of which 99% of whom have no idea how anything works and who bought because it was going up and sell because its going down.  But in Bitshares thats what we have.

Seriously??  The western guys and especially Chinese forumers have been complaining the merger killer, the dilution killer, the constant 'flip-flop' decisions-on-impulse, the 'forever' buggy and unreliable wallet, the no-milestone-map ....  On the contrary, they know very well what is happening.

I was not referring to the forum participants here.  I am referring to the people who follow trollboxes on exchanges and just buy whatever is hot that people tell them to buy.  Those people dont understand bitshares at all, so they just sell when it goes back down.

I hope you are not suggesting that 99% of the current bts investors are in fact pure speculators behind the exchanges' trollboxes.  What happened to the ags&pts founding investors, the later investors and believers, holders in bts?  Are they gone?  We have a problem.

Not gone.
