General Discussion / Re: Emergency Measure - Temporary Shutdown

So is upstream proxy mining actually implemented?

If not - having v high diff coins like Dash on the pool will just  be wasting miners hash and pulling the overall pools algo's mining profitability down.

@datasecuritynode

Miners including myself having been continuing to mine in good faith for nearly a month now without any payments.

I understand development takes time, but you had set an expectation that the cutover would only take a couple of days, and many other bitshares projects has migrated to 2.0 rather quickly.

As it's not clear when you'll have the new pool and payouts working again, can you to run a manual payout in the next couple of days. There are only about 15 active miners, so a manual payout shouldn't be too hard to facilitate.

Can you also advise how much BTC/BitUSD you have on hand for payments?

cheers,

nethyb.

I was actually considering do this last week after promises of being completed went unfulfilled again. It was only in the last week that I have seen real progress being made so I decided to wait on that just a little longer.

I am just as anxious to see it get done and have been frustrated to say the least.

If I don't see at least the MVP to move over to the new payout system at least by Thursday I will be doing a manual payout and then.

I will have to check again later today on the balance.

Hi @datasecuritynode  - can you arrange for the manual payout ASAP - i don't see any reason we need to wait until the the new pool is ready,

thanks.

Sorry for not updating sooner.

Programmers have started on the migration process and tomorrow we are verifying details before the switch over happens.

I am hoping this process will be completed in the next day or two.

I expected the process to start sooner, but glad it is underway now.

Will keep you posted.

Hi @BunkerChain Labs - even I'm starting to get concerned now. Please provide a detailed update on the manual payout. It's been two weeks since you said you we're going to run a manual payout.

Technical Support / BTS dev help for Exchange to migrate to 2.0
« on: October 21, 2015, 09:06:59 am »
Hi Devs,
       can a BTS dev @vikram @bytemaster get in touch with Richie of the Bittrex team to help them out, they are trying to do the migration to 2.0 so they can unfreeze their clients accounts and honour the 2.0 snapshot etc and they are having issues...

They've contacted myself as I helped them in the early days with listing BTS etc.

I've tried adding vikram, but have gotten no response...

Are there any examples of pure json calls anywhere? I can't find any documentation at all on it. Can someone please have a dev contact me on skype or irc. I want to unblock these users, but can't without some sort of support.

Thanks,
Richie

Hi Richie,
Probably quickest way to get help is to try and get in touch with vikram who helped you out in the past he's on Skype as vikram.rajkumar, or post in the forums.

Also I don't know if you have a relationship with the Poloinex team but they've gone through the process...

Here is the thread that explains what the exchanges need to do to migrate to 2.0 and the new 2.0 code download etc. You should probably subscribe to this thread to be made aware of future updates etc.

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=7067 (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=7067)

There was a specific step-by-step post for exchange integration:

Step-By-Step Instructions for Exchanges

http://docs.bitshares.eu/integration/step-by-step.html (http://docs.bitshares.eu/integration/step-by-step.html)

And here is where the new software is:

https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2/wiki/Import%20BitShares-0.9.3c%20wallets%20into%20BitShares%202.0%20CLI%20wallet (https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-2/wiki/Import%20BitShares-0.9.3c%20wallets%20into%20BitShares%202.0%20CLI%20wallet)

Will BitUSD pool payouts carry on as normal after the changeover to 2.0 on the 13th, is there anything us miners need to do?

Technical Support / referral - lifetime member - in 2.0 genesis
« on: October 10, 2015, 01:00:16 am »
Anyone that participated in the original referral program and converted at least 1 user to create an account prior to June 8th will get a free lifetime membership when we do the upgrade.

Cool, hopefully it includes myself (nethyb) for the initial couple of months of minebitshares referrals ...

https://faucet.bitshares.org/refscoreboard you can check if your ID's on the list

Thanks, but when I setup the initial referrals I used the my delegate www.minebitshares-com (top referrer) rather than my actual trading username nethyb, and have since passed on the delegate to datasecuritynode in his endeavours to take the pool to the next level.

Maybe BM and the team can see their way to providing an honoury lifetime membership to us both, considering we brought in the most referrals  in the old system ;)

I noticed in the recent oct5-genesis.json my BTS account (nethyb) is not listed as a lifetime member.

Code: [Select]
{
      "name": "nethyb",
      "owner_key": "BTS6LntkCfDLvwPrr13az5kYmivVYnJrSA7pmNF9kxNFFjeMqDgE7",
      "active_key": "BTS6LntkCfDLvwPrr13az5kYmivVYnJrSA7pmNF9kxNFFjeMqDgE7",
      "is_lifetime_member": false
    },

Yet the delegate account is...

{
      "name": "www.minebitshares-com",
      "owner_key": "BTS5kg373c13N4AzGZ1TKLZzkxwc4WnGixkTEVJV3Y7GFGzVtTwui",
      "active_key": "BTS5kg373c13N4AzGZ1TKLZzkxwc4WnGixkTEVJV3Y7GFGzVtTwui",
      "is_lifetime_member": true
    }

Give the above quoted items, can we have nethyb listed as a lifetime member instead of the delegate account,  as I noticed the other pool operator for minebitshares.com has been tagged tagged as a lifetimember

{
      "name": "datasecuritynode",
      "owner_key": "BTS878w5GpLk8YXCnpKNcbm6twRuJ3Ja9kM2CFGxcic8PN6rZU2RH",
      "active_key": "BTS878w5GpLk8YXCnpKNcbm6twRuJ3Ja9kM2CFGxcic8PN6rZU2RH",
      "is_lifetime_member": true
    },

Apologies for the trivial distraction as this very busy time, but calling it out now, as I imagine if it's not in the genesis now it won't make it...

thanks,

 +5% Great announcement - I remember when Michael Taggart aka Michael X (https://twitter.com/_michaelx) was very vocal on his twitter account (14K followers) when BitShares originally launched and appears to have excellent credentials (https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelxmarketing/en)  in Marketing and Advertising. Best of luck LottoShares...

 +5% Great work community...

1. I'm contributing with the following amount of BTS: 10,000
2. I'm contributing with the following resources (for testers only): I'm also prepared to also contibute $300 USD in AWS server resources
3. I'm aiming to contribute following amount of transactions per second (for testers only): n/a

I don't have a lot of time to contribute, but could spin up all the AWS servers / create in image etc if someone was to the initial dev/scripting/image work etc.

i.e. The $300 in AWS could be used for 1000 x 5hrs of m3.xlarge (0.06)  spot instances, or 150 x 5hrs of m4.10xlarge , happy to support whatever combination will get the best result.

m3.xlarge
4 vCPU's
15 GB Mem
2 x 40 (SSD)

m4.10xlarge
40vCPU's
160 Gb Mem
EBS Storage
10 Gigabit

I think this is a nice idea being slowly developed!   +5%

How about all the delegates combine force to do a 'blasting' in order to max out the Internet-based transaction.  The devs can possibly do their LAN test since they have the number of computers and a fast gigabit local area network.  We will need to co-ordinate the timing here.

How about that, guys?  If you are keen, please SAY IT!

When Tony says buy you buy.
A trully elevating feeling to see 2.0 coming of age.  :)
Load testing at 100K TPS will not be viable with standard network connections.
I see, thanks for the reply. Well I'm sure as we start to test transactions speed, that even at a relatively low number for BitShares, it's still a huge number compared with other projects
Yea. I wonder if it is possible to show that we can achieve 100K TPS in a Local Area Network (LAN) and an average maximum speed at XXX TPS for LIVE network due to a limitation of an witness node Internet speed averaged out.  This can satisfy our claim that bts can achieve 100K TPS if and when the Internet bandwidth reaches LAN speed.

good idea    lan   Low latency ,Pressure test mining limit and find bottlenecks

@bytemaster @Stan - to prove it, just take your phone and video record a 1min clip or something showing a split screen. CLI on one side and xeroc's new tps gauge (http://stats.bitshares.eu) on the other side, then post it to the YT 2.0 vids (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjbx3qSmDe7QO5WHjpx6w3o_xQD6JLm4R).

Please, do this! You know the positive impact it would have  +5% +5% +5%

Agreed!!

Good idea.  No spare cycles here though, we're pedaling as hard as we can.
Someone want to take a shot at it?
I'm sure it would be appreciated...

:)

I for one, would be happy to contribute some resources (donate some BTS) or spin up a number of AWS instances to help with load testing, and I'm sure many others in the community would also help if someone could develop the instructions or scripts to perform a private testnet load/tps test.

Using AWS, you could effectively have a 10Gb private LAN with the ability to spin up a significant number of servers for a short period of time at reasonable cost using spot pricing.

Here is an atricle on how someone has configured AWS instances to achieve 1 Million TPS For Just $1.68/Hour - http://highscalability.com/blog/2014/8/18/1-aerospike-server-x-1-amazon-ec2-instance-1-million-tps-for.html

If we chime and say we (as the community) would be willing to fund/support/provide resources for this test - it may encourage one us to take it on...
