Yes, the Norwegian Pirate Party invited Adam to speak at the national assembly in March this year. We discuss it here on our blog. It underlined how cryptolibertarians and pirates actually have a lot in common.

The reason I thought it was sarcasm, is that "politician" is often used as a negative label (Even within the Pirate Party). For example, the Pirate Party founder, swedish Rick Falkvinge, always used to open his presentations stating (jokingly) that he is ashamed to admit that he is a politician. Nowadays, Rick is more into cryptocurrencies and liberty, e.g. BitNation. Maybe we should try to get him involved in BitShares

For your information:
In the Telegram app there are two chats that I know of, Bitshares and Bitshares_Witnesses. I think the former was started by Spartako and the latter, which is used today for witness coordination, was started by iHashFury. Spartako also made a bot for Telegram able to notify us of lost blocks. It has proven very useful.

b) A brilliant move showcasing the weaknesses of centralized exchanges, which benefits BitShares in the long run.

I get the sarcasm, but I have in fact dabbled in politics (Pirate Party). That's the party for people that are generally unwilling to be politicians, but feel a strong sense of duty to "save the world" from the NSA and Internet Censorship.
On a different note, it is sometimes difficult or impossible to know what the truth is, and ironically presenting two partially conflicting options was perhaps an acknowledgement of the fact. In the end, it may not be critical to the outcome.

« on: October 14, 2015, 08:14:21 pm »All witnesses may need to replay the blockchain to get back in sync. There seems to be an issue that can cause things to get out of sync.
Done. Deleted folder object_database and config folder, and restarted. Now syncing nicely.
My witness also crashed earlier today (around 14:00 UTC) and I had to do the same thing. Here is a log of the event in case it is useful.
Previously I didn't have to restart my seed node, but this time it was necessary. Please ask for more logs if needed.

The object_database marks the folder from which the binary is launched. My binaries reside in a totally different folder than where I launch them from.
I see, I didn't think of that possibility. If you launch from the same dir as the witness binary is located, does that make a difference?

..but what comes to mind is that you said that the paths must be relative to the binary. Do you see the same problem if you place the genesis file together with the binary, and specify datadir as a simple directory name? Could there be a problem with OS permissions?
What happens if you don't specify the datadir at all?
