My immediate takeaway from the article: buy BitGOLD now, make easy  +5% when delegates switch their feeds to physical delivery gold  8)

Overstock's Medici was supposed to be a cryptoequity platform. This sounds like a regular Bitcoin exchange.

Neither. Hopefully we will have many competing standards and currencies. Relying on a single, global money has a "fat tail" risk distribution.

We need modular, flexible systems that are asset-agnostic and localize risks to individual gateways and issuers so that a failure of a single blockchain doesn't bring down whole asset classes.. My best bet at the moment would be Open Transactions, perhaps Ripple.

This has none to do with DPOS. It's basically a donations platform with a slick desktop client.
It doesn't solve the freerider problem: my contribution will cost me personally but benefit everyone else equally. This is evident even in the bounty that funded the app: 50 grand for the app and another 50 as a matching fund. It's really pathetic compared to the amounts spent on electricity.
Bitcoin will have to switch to some variation of DPoS or it should die. The quicker the better.

Fuzzy, you're shaping up to become a lynchpin of the Bitshares community: an indispensable artist that completes the community and brings it together.

If they keep holding on to the USD peg the inevitable cataclysm as a result will be much worse, so, they have to do it.

"Inevitable" assumes a static world. Technological progress already reshaped the world economy once in our lifetime (the Internet revolution).
We can have a breakthrough in cold fusion tomorrow and an instant multiplication of the standard of living of every household on earth. We can have US and Russia nuke each other out. Or a benevolent AI take over. Or a thousand other things.

If governments can stall for time they will.

I predict that if bitcoin goes down then ltc will go down with it. That is a prediction.

Again, you're not telling us anything about the future. You may claim that there's some link between both prices but you still don't know the future price of neither. You can observe that "today Bitcoin went down and without looking I predict that Litecoin went down also" but this is only applicable to the present and the past.

Hi guys!

In response to Bytemaster's call for more individual delegates (on last week's community hangout) I've launched a 3% delegate 'triox-delegate'.
http://bitsharesblocks.com/delegates/delegate?name=triox-delegate

I'm located in Poland and the delegate resides in Azure Northern Europe (Ireland). I believe it's important to have delegates dispersed in many jurisdictions and datacenters.

Setting it up was a typical Linux administrative work, which is to say it was a living nightmare  ;D I can see why marketers and creative people are reluctant to start delegates. When this delegate is voted in I will be happy to help out or set one up for somebody.

I have a rule regarding "predictions":

All claims about sufficiently complicated chaotic future are fraudulent.
If btc is falling then ltc will fall and most alt coins.

This doesn't tell me anything about the future, it's not a prediction.

I have a rule regarding "predictions":

All claims about sufficiently complicated chaotic future are fraudulent. It's impossible to predict outcomes outside of one's immediate control. We just keep telling ourselves that we can guess the future because prediction is the primary function of the neocortex and it was evolutionary advantageous to make random predictions than none at all.

How do the rest from outside get the book? We don't have Amazon.

Amazon ships worldwide. Especially digital items. I just bought the book, even though Amazon is not "officially" in my county.
