General Discussion / Re: Bitshares Wikipedia article
« on: June 13, 2015, 04:19:48 pm »
Aren't BitAssets technically a financial smart contract?

Smart contract is an overloaded term, but to me it means that anyone can negotiate the terms and write their own rules in some script. e.g. Ethereum, Eris would satisfy that. So far BitAssets have not only been in full control of the devs, but aside from being hard coded and not customizable, the rules have been constantly changing. One minute you can short indefinitely, the next there is a 30 day window to cover, then there is interest rate, then there isn't, etc.

In my understanding of the term https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart_contract it does not imply a requirement for arbitrary computations.

No RSS feed for blog posts?

Doesn't https://bitshares.org/feed.xml work ?
Yes, thanks! Feedly didn't find it automatically. Maybe it should be added into html meta tag?

Thanks for the tip. This should be working now.

Muse/SoundDAC / Is it PeerTracks or Peertracks?

PeerTracks seems more common, but the website http://peertracks.com/ uses Peertracks.

From this update: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,16898.msg216075.html#msg216075

That thread will be used only to post updates, so I have moved the first comment to here:

Hello everyone!

I would like to start posting more about Follow My Vote's endeavors and successes on the forum. I apologize if we have seemed distant. We tend to get so caught up in our work that we forget to inform the BitShares community about what we are actually doing. Moving forward expect weekly and monthly marketing updates (I have already started doing this under the marketing section) as well as updates on new content on our site and any big mentions or successes on our side.

Recently we were mentioned in an article about blockchain voting and a new political party in Australia. Check out our most recent blog post for more info.
https://followmyvote.com/follow-my-vote-and-our-decentralized-voting-solution-featured-on-crypto-news-day/

Feel free to comment on our blogs and let us know what you think. We are also open to guest blogs and ideas.

Best,
Slick Willy

Nice!
So would you please explain what's your plan and status with that party,  Neutral Voting Bloc? Are you going to cooperate with them?

What is "SmartCoin™", why is it "trademarked" and who owns it?

Hmm, now you ar making me confused. Cass gave me this info. Understoo it was trademarked as part of the bistassets.

I may be mistaken, but I don't think Cryptonomex or Invictus own any trademarks. Stan can clarify for sure.

3. A current Copyright in the footer.
4. A simple message that states something like "Bitshares is a registered Virginia corporation and does not give legal or financial advice. Delegates and Workers for Bitshares are paid directly by said company blah blah.."

Please note that the current BitShares website and software are public domain and all copyrights have been forfeit. There is no legal entity called BitShares nor is there any corporation that owns or pays for it.

Technical Support / Re: lost funds?

Do you still have the wallet file(s) from before you reinstalled?
How recent was the backup that you imported after reinstall?
Could you have imported more keys into the previous one that weren't present in the current copy?
After regenerating keys, did you make sure you were fully synced and then do a "rescan" ?

Technical Support / Re: need a new transaction for 2.0
« on: June 11, 2015, 05:06:07 pm »
maybe I am overthink, but still there something  I want to refer.
off course this is not very important, we can do it later.

1. we need 2 step to create a paper wallet, register account and transfer fund.this is not graceful.
2. this may waster many ID, if paper wallet is very popular ....
3. it's very hard to manage many paper wallet

if we implement paper wallet with a new transaction, the paper wallet is belong to origin account,
1. we can cancel paper wallet with account's key, even we lost paper wallet's key, we'll not lost fund.
2. we can get transaction history clear, paper wallet spend to who.
3. we can get something more powerful, like a paper wallet with several keys, every key can only use 1 time.
if I have a paper wallet with 100 USD, I can give it 100 key, I can pay 1 USD with a key, and I can still use left key.
this will very useful for small payment

This could be useful and we have debated some similar ideas, but to keep features to a minimum at launch I don't think we will focus on it now. Afterwards you can make a proposal to vote on to add this feature I think.

So all referer links should be updated to https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares.github.io?

Is this new link permanent?

I'm not sure I understand your question; the official website is now permanently at: https://bitshares.org/
