@Stan can witnesses already start publishing a feed or do you need to first approve them? I just tried to do so but got the following error:

Code: [Select]
0 exception: unspecified
10 assert_exception: Assert Exception
bitasset.feeds.count(o.publisher):

IIRC that's the error you get when not authorized (I could very well be wrong here)

I have also started publishing a price feed for RUBLE, and released bts_tools 0.4.10 that implements it.

Note that you will have to explicitly enable RUBLE feed publishing if you need it, like so: https://github.com/wackou/bts_tools/blob/master/bts_tools/config.yaml#L89

I am in the process of updating my bts_tools monitoring tools for witnesses and am ready to publish a feed for RUBLE as soon as I get approved. Thanks a lot and great initiative!

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Witnesses - please report in
« on: February 24, 2017, 02:50:37 pm »
witness wackou, still active. Running a witness with feeds (also the lesser known ones, such as ALTCAP and BTWTY), as well as a seed node (seed.bitsharesnodes.com:1776).

I also maintain the following page: http://status.bitsharesnodes.com, and keep doing development on the bts_tools (although not as much as I would like due to real-life constraints, but hopefully the situation is going to get better in a few months). Actual development can be followed here: https://github.com/wackou/bts_tools/commits/master

Future work include setting up more public nodes, as well as working on a deploy script to set them up on a new VPS from scratch.

General Discussion / Re: who can tell me what's the GOLD price?
« on: January 11, 2017, 09:31:18 pm »
I have updated my witness to publish correct values for both GOLD and SILVER. I also released bts_tools 0.4.6 which implements it (that's the version my witness is running). Be warned though that 0.4.6 has a bug that prevents it from building the client, but the monitoring and feed script part should work ok. I will publish 0.4.7 that fixes that shortly

I have now updated the feed price for gold from yahoo to use the correct value from here:
http://download.finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?s=GC=F&f=l1&e=.csv
as suggested by abit. This is implemented in the recently published version 0.4.5 of the bts_tools, which my witness now uses to publish adjusted feeds.

I plan a deeper refactoring of the feed script that will make it more efficient, more stable and more decentralized (esp. the reliance on yahoo), but that'll take a couple of weeks. Stay tuned!

just wanted to chime in and say that, as a witness and feed script provider, I will update/fix/do whatever is necessary to produce correct feed price for GOLD (as well as for other assets) but as most other people I am currently on holidays with the family, so it will have to wait a week or so.

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: 96%? Let's shake up witness voting.

Lafona ran a superb delegate node back in the day (before BTS 2.0). He's been great to work with, and I would highly recommend him as a witness.

+5% not a lot in the spotlight, but has always been on top of things and super reliable, an excellent witness choice.

General Discussion / Re: BitShares administrative and maintenance tasks
« on: November 01, 2016, 01:11:07 am »
holy s*** Vikram is back!

great to hear this! I have to say that as much as Dan was the brains behind the project, you were the engineer behind it, and you made witnesses' lives much easier by fixing all the little warts, polishing edges, properly tagging and announcing releases, and more generally maintaining the administrative part of the project that makes it easier for the rest of the ecosystem to consume the software.

Your presence in BitShares 2.0 was missed (by me at least, but I don't think I'm the only one) and for example the general feel of the cli_wallet in bts 2.0 is a lot less polished than what it was at the end of 0.9.x due to that.

So if you want to come back and fix all these little things to make a great product even greater and manage the project to that end, then I guess that you clearly have my support!

Awesome work pc, very much appreciated! Thanks for pushing this. I don't feel qualified to comment on all the details of your proposal, but I'll be helping testing as soon as you get something working. And if you don't set up a worker for this, I'd be very much willing to chip in a few BTS to compensate for your work. I feel like that this issue right now is the most pressing one affecting BTS, glad to see someone taking the lead on this.  +5%

DAC PLAY / Blockchain forked?
« on: October 02, 2016, 07:42:51 pm »
Is the blockchain forked? I seem to have been on a fork with ~43% participation the last few days that I can't get off of. Not sure if it is the main chain and 50 delegates have dropped out or if I'm stuck on a chain with just less than half of the delegates...

Anyone knows what's up?

BitShares PTS / Re: ptstalk.org down
« on: July 17, 2016, 08:18:39 am »
yes, I've tried a few times to get back on the main chain (if there's still any), but always ended up on my own fork (with 10% participation, same as pc)

I would have to agree that it's pretty much dead as it is now. I have to admit I'm kinda sad to see it die like that, and would be willing to help a bit if someone coordinates to revive it, but I clearly can't do that myself as it is now.

oops, I just realized that my delegates went on a fork, so the network might be dead already for all I know...
