What are your thoughts?
In general
bitshares.org should be as neutral as possible.
That said, you should be tagged 3rd party suff as 3rd party properly ..

Also, are we only taking about the landing page? Because there is a lot more content
available and a lot of stuff that has already been discussed that should be part of the webpage.
IMHO it should be the one resource to get an impression of BitShares (not its partners) and give
links to further resources.

I wonder why bitshares-munich is mentioned but not bitshares.eu, nor the docs on that page .. ???

Please go to https://steemit.com/@Chris4210 and look for the latest post. I made a mistake with the title and linked to the BitShares section at Steem. I cannot change the permanent link. the brackets [ create a link]  . sorry for that.

Hi all, I started a Steem discussion about this topic : https://steemit.com/bitshares/@Chris4210/bitshares

I collected some good ideas and wrote the first texts. Now the next question is, how do we fund the update. Since our current worker situation is limiting us, I will try it with a Steem post. Please vote for the post  +5% . Thank you!!

Good question ! It won't be easy.

We should start with a list of what we absolutely want in the main page and what can be linked to another page.

In writing the BitShares description I noticed that we actually failed to address the right market...

BitShares in a nutshell is a trading engine software for exchange service operators like CCEDK, BitStamp, Kraken etc. Uniting all order books and give everybody more liquidity. However, the sales pitch is hard because the exchange has to give up his control over the order book and has to be 100% transparent.

Question to the community: Should the new website description rather

a) focus on people who want to build or are running an exchange already?
b) focus on companies, startups who want to connect to the global exchange via API and enable payments, trading etc. at the DEX?
c) focus on startups who want to start a crowdfunding and seek a platform for their initial coin offering (ICO)?

In the long term BitShares technology has a b2b focus and is more interesting for exchange operators or startups like BitShares Munich who build mobile payments and pos services. An individual person needs a good, solid interface to interact with BitShares.

What are your thoughts?

Why not have a usecase for each of those explained in detail? I think that would be the best, if not, then b)

I think the website should discuss the various use cases.  That should include from the end-user standpoint (e.g. cryptocurrency traders, and those that want to invest in Bitshares and perhaps participate in its governance), as well as from the standpoint of businesses that might like to build atop Bitshares including exchanges (both new  and existing), wallet providers, existing businesses that want their own tradeable crypto-token, existing cryptocurrencies that don't want or need to continue maintaining their own blockchain, etc.

Good point, I added it to the list. How could such a structure look like? How can we name all those examples without building a monster website?

Bingo +5%

As a newb to Bitshares, tell me why the hell I should scroll your page down and read some more. SELL ME in the first sentence of the first paragraph.

Use small images to denote each section to draw your eye to what that user might be most interested in (at a glance).

You got me to your website, now SELL ME in the first 5 seconds or I'm gone. see?

I think (a) would be a hard sell to especially well established exchanges.  Small new exchanges may consider using the DEX infrastructure in bitshares but the big ones have their own resources and infrastructure in place.  Besides, they may consider bts DEX a competitor rather than a potential partner.

The payment processor part of (b) is against a tough sell among the well established players.  Trading part of (b) may have some opportunities.

(c) could be a bright spot for bts. It is expensive for a startup ICO to list in an exchange.  The DEX could be a good affordable and a secured one.

IMHO go for (c) with a secondary focus on bts trading businesses.

Ok, I created a first draft of the new website texts, USPĀ“s  and latest projects on the BitShares Platform. Please read the texts carefully and give me feedback.

I also need your help to crowdsource the descriptions for each BitShares project. Please add a short description to your project. Not more than 200 words. Thank you.
