Honestly didn't think Norwegian banks would pull something like this. Feel somewhat disgusted. I think their bank is DNB, translated The Norwegian Bank.

After Mintpal and Justcoin going down, and BitShares having proved it self for half a year now, holding in bitAssets is slowly starting to feel safer than holding at crypto exchanges.

This is something we could communicate en masse to the crypto community with minimal expenses.

The world and its entrenched power structures are not always as nice as some of us would like to believe, it seems.  Let this be a lesson for all of us that can be brought to the level of the little microcosm we see here in these forums.  This movement will have enemies...

Nugget of more info:

"Last week our bank informed us that because of international agreements they don't want customers dealing in digital cash, ..."

Yet another example of illegitimate, monopolistic, kleptomaniacal, protectionism from a tentacle of the one bank....

Justcoin guys should invest in BitShares and start building for a decentralized platform.

Yea I'm quite surprised by this as well, it's been up and running for a while now and I've never really seen anything negative about Bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in Norwegian papers.

It's a shame too as it was a decent exchange with active and nice owners.

Justcoin, perhaps the largest crypto exchange in Scandinavia, shuts down after pressure from Norwegian Banks. Justcoin sent out an email to all users saying:

"Justcoin is shutting down all operations. Our bank has notified us that it will no longer accept businesses dealing with digital currencies. The same goes for other Norwegian banks. Without a bank account we have no business and need to shut down. This event demonstrates the need for decentralized payment networks."
