@cylonmaker2053 - in your post here you've quoted me. Unfortunately my post which you quoted had the link to the article which we don't like. I've since modified my link. I wonder, would you mind editing the link in your quote too?

And/or have a mod remove all references of the link on this forum and watch it drop off the first page in a week or so, put the link in google and include site:bitsharestalk.org and see all the times we linked to it

Broke the link to the marmot page in the OP, as we have done in the past at the request of community members so as not to give them higher search rankings. OP if you are unhappy with this, feel free to change it back and I won't edit your posts again.

What links would we want to appear on page 1?

It probably wouldn't take more than a few days to get the front page corrected with more accurate and relevant links if just a few of us linked some of these from various sites and comment sections..

Here are some that are listed on page 2, 3 and beyond (in global results) that could probably use a little nudge:

http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/Main_Page

http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/BitShares/History

https://twitter.com/_bitshares

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChtICzF0ZEhhgoMA8YWhULw

http://www.bitsharesmusicfoundation.org/

http://pool.minebitshares.com/

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1084460.0

https://beyondbitcoin.org/

https://voat.co/v/smartcoin

https://blocktrades.us/

https://metaexchange.info/

https://www.ccedk.com/bts-usd

...and then there is this one - which will rank near the top as soon as it gets published:

This is about the sixth result when searching "BitShares". I'm looking forward to the day when it no longer appears on the first page of results...

It's surely a very powerful piece in it's ability to make people 'run away' if they begin to look into BitShares. It's a shame to have such a stumbling block putting people off before they've managed to discover how awesome BitShares is.

It'd be nice to have a respected 'outsider' with a high profile to counter this article.

yeah it'll be great when Bitshares really takes off and that article is just a part of our history, not front-page stuff. the good news is that we have had a prolonged opportunity to buy at prices that will hopefully end up being low...
As long as we keep linking to it, it isn't going anywhere as google figures it must be an authority on the subject if we keep linking to it

ha! damned good point!

Very good point. I've now spoiled the link in my post (a few posts up) so it looks like:

That should be OK, right?

@cylonmaker2053 - perhaps you'd like to modify the link in your post too?

He's right that the Bitcoin community is extremely narrow-minded. But he's only half a step ahead of them.

I think this

His criticism of BTS can be summarized as "it is not actually profitable so it is bad collateral" which is TRUE, he just didn't see how it could possibly become true with more development, and chose a bad tone. To be fair the messaging at the time made BTS look like an outright scam.

great points, but i'd just say that as long as there's a USD-BTS market with price > 0 then BTS can function as legitimate collateral. i wasn't around in this community at the beginning, but i can see how the initial marketing messages could raise red flags.

He was trying to kill an idea in its inception thinking he was righteous. His evil ridicule (pure violence) would not be possible without in the background making a rationalization that he's a skeptical warrior serving the absolute truth. Typically, the ones holding skepticism as an unlimited virtue are self-medicating from being trolled in the past.

Do not use this post as information for making any important decisions. The only agreements I ever make are informal and non-binding. Take the same precautions as when dealing with a compromised account, scammer, sockpuppet, etc.

pretty disappointing BTS bashing from PB, nothing of substance, but lots of annoying language to compel readers to agree with opinion for opinion's sake. every point against BTS or our products should be listed as a legitimate risk item, not a condemnation of the concept. we're experimenting with new financial technology, of course it's going to be risky; that's no reason not to keep experimenting and improving.

viva la BTS!

It's vested interest talking.. when ever you have a better mouse trap, there is always someone from the old guard crying over it not being theirs.

It's human nature.

yeah, one of the negative aspects of human nature
