Now, if you're not trying to offer equity in your business then you have plenty of options.

You can issue a UIA which represents anything you want. It could be points, discounts, gifts, coupons, vouchers, as long as you legally bind yourself to redeem the UIA it will have value to us. So we could buy the UIA knowing it will always be redeemable for whatever you'll accept in exchange for it.

It could work just fine for in-game items for example. Bitshares Play would probably be best for this but if make it a token of some sort which applies to more than just games, then you might be onto something. Look at Bunkershares to figure out a good model, also profit sharing is possible if you consider the holders of the token members of your club.

We've  been internally considering the Bitshares play model of fund raising for a bit.
We might have a token issuance soon.

Hey guys,

I am one of the founders of freebieservers.com. We are  a community of close to 150,000 gamers from various parts of the globe. Currently, our infrastructure is pan American and we intend to take things global in the coming months as we work on an ecosystem that interlinks in-game economies to the blockchain, via an e-sports platform and a marketplace for in-game items. We've been incredibly lean in the sense that, we'raised only around 6k for the core business on the Nxt AE, had a 3 member team with most aspects either being contract handled or being done in-house. When we started work on the platform, 2 concerns were of key importance to us : userbase and monetization. Our userbase has grown to twice its size organically and we see consistent growth every day. In terms of monetization, we've partnered with a number of advertising houses to handle that aspect.

We've been considering liquidating more of our holding in the core business with primary goals being
1. Further expansion
2.  Increasing share-holder value
3. Liquidating founder's stock and adding stake-holders.

When we were fund raising last year, we were still an "experiment" so raising a major amount was out of question at the time.
We've done a number of major advertising deals and drastically improved ourselves since then. I'd reached out to PLAY regarding a potential collaboration, but that headed nowhere.

I've been considering the following for the markets here,

1. A share-drop (still not clear on how this adds to a financial incentive for us)
2. A UIA (the legal aspects are a bit worrysome)
3. Token issuance

Currently, the team is looking at ethereum, Bitshares and private VC investments to go forward.
Inputs would be welcome.

Regards

It's up to you. Bitshares 2.0 offers opportunities, but may bring risk. If you're into gaming then you want to deal with Bitshares Play. If not then you may want to launch on something like Ethereum and then make an intermediate token which represents microshares of the Ethereum token.

Does this make sense? But the token you offer should not be a security. So you cannot offer shares in your commercial venture without going through the paperwork. You can do equity crowd funding which is entirely legal, and it's just as much paperwork as you would have to do if you deal with VCs. But if you go that route your investors will have to be identified, which means your UIA would have to require the identity of the investors and follow the rules.

Bitshares 2.0 will allow this, so you might want to consider doing an equity crowd fund on Bitshares 2.0. Follow the law for crowd funding.

One of the options on the table yes, but does it help at scale for enterprises ?
Way I saw it, its a system to help volunteers assisting the community. Similar to delegate pay.
Would appreciate any links / sources of info.

Its a referral program - you share in the fees of users you bring to bitshares

Considered it :)

Did you look into the rewards program?

It's more for enterprises (online and mobile wallets, exchanges, other application providers) that bring in new users. These enterprises then get 80% of the lifetime revenue (from tx fees) from the users they brought in no matter how these users generate the revenue on the bitshares network. See https://bitshares.org/technology/referral-rewards-program/

Inputs would be welcome.

Go private. There is no way the community will be able to fund raise the amount of money you'll need for a gambling licence.

Keep in mind, this discussion is not solely about the e-sports venture, but the core business (free servers enabled by ads)
