Witnesses publish feeds which currently set the CORE EXCHANGE RATE for bitassets.   Witnesses can bias the core exchange rate so that paying fees is cheaper with BitUSD and other bitassets.

So long as the fee pool remains funded the fees will be effectively lower for this use case.

The "cost" of experimenting with lower fees should be relatively low for a supporter of such a move, all they need to do is keep the fee pool funded.
I just realized how it works, and increased CER 10 times (which means fees paid in Smartcoins are decreased 1/10)

Shame look at this poor guy.. Fav had to send him a 100 BTS and he's just sent the remainder to Polo less fees (57 BTS)  presumably to sell. https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/account/bts-amirul/overview

yep, it's a small amount for my referrals to play around with. pretty cool to see that a new user was able to figure out how to transfer/use a exchange in 2.0 :)

OK. Possibly just testing it out. I do seem to remember you sending 100 BTS to someone who didn't have enough in their account to cover the transfer fee, thought it was the same guy.

So you gave him 100bts and the first thing he did was send it to polo?

We need more detailed data about where the reduction comes from.

This idea sounds like a nasty trick that feed publishers could use to get their way.

Anyway those people who want the fees lowered are wrong. Its the GUI thats holding us back not the "high" fees.

Check out this progress, we are finally deflationary:

22/10/2015:     2,533,245,397

Lets not mess this up!

Yup, a few more transfer fees earned from shareholders claiming balances and moving to Poloniex to sell and we'll all be rich!

Does either the GUI or the CLI have any simple way to specify what asset is used to pay fees?
