Promo to bring in new users?

I guess for trading and transfers it could be possible but you can't have it for membership because it would kill the referral program. Neither you can't have it for accounts registration, everybody would always wait these "discount" days to create new accounts.

I'm impressed by the ability of BitShares to make changes to parameters very quickly and efficiently. This gives me an idea which I want to run by you all. Let me know if it's feasible. Also let me know if it's good, or if it gives you any more ideas which could be useful...

Events could be organised whereby blockchain parameters are tweaked in order to create some kind of special offer for users for a limited period of time. The idea would be to give new users an incentive to try the platform.

Imagine using BitShares' flexibility to run promotional events ON THE BLOCKCHAIN: discount days / happy hours / black friday sales / try-it-for-free specials.

We could do offers on:

• Memberships
• Account registrations
• Transfer fees
• Market fees

I'm not saying we should do anything like this soon, but it may be worth considering at some point in the future...

(As a matter of interest, is it possible to allow a limited number of free transactions per account during a short lived event? I don't know if the back-end allows for this... probably not?)
