1: wallet.dat file was created 4/1/2014
2: Not sure how I would claim the BTS using the old 0.9.3 as it doesn't even work anymore, it doesn't connect to any blockchain/server or anything so theres no way I could have claimed and sent somewhere else. All i've done is literally imported the wallet.dat into it and then used the console to export the keys.json file.
3: I'm pretty sure i've followed the guide correctly, like I said in #2, all you do is import your wallet.dat and then export from console the keys.json file.
4: This could be where i'm stuck at but I don't think so as every time i've tried to look up balance, it says no balance found and no Bts balance show up in any account that I have registered.

So if Bitshares 0.9.3 only shows a balance of 3000, thats all the Bts I would have now on Bitshares 2.0? I know for a fact over the weekend somehow when I tired doing this over and over it showed a balance of 18,000 bts at one point in the Bitshares 2.0 Gui version, then showed another balance of 2000, then also showed another balance of 3000 bts so where did all these different balances come from? When I import the keys into Bitshares 2.0 it says 3 keys found which is why I think I seen the 3 different balances over the weekend somehow.

Edit.... I just seen a picture showing after you import the .bin file or maybe the .json file there is a blue box that pops up and says claim balance. This box has never popped up once for me so I am pretty sure I haven't claimed anything at all.

Thats the thing, I never claimed anything I don't believe. When I load my backup file, its showing my account name as " Null ".. I go to the send tab and try to send out the bts but it won't let me choose " Null " as the account.
I guess you created a "cloud wallet" account, in this case the backup file has nothing. You need to login with the account name and the password for the name, but not restore a backup, then should be able to go. If you already in local wallet mode, in settings page there is an option to switch from local wallet mode to cloud wallet mode.

I tried that also, when I do that, it says my account name is " null "   The balance shows the BTS and if I go to try to send out the BTS, it won't let me select " null " so I can't send any of the BTS anywhere.
"null" is someone else's account, so you can't send from it.

I guess why "null" is showing in your browser, is because you imported an empty bin file, as explained (quoted).

Your issue is, you created an account, logged in, see 0 balance, imported the json which you exported from 0.9.3, found 3 keys, but still 0 balance. The possible reasons:
1. you obtained the PTS after "the merge" (Nov. 2014), which is unlikely
2. you have claimed the BTS in BitShares 0.9.3 and transferred to another address, in this case you need to do a rescan in 0.9.3 to find the new addresses and keys, then export and import to 2.0.
3. you didn't follow the correct steps to export from 0.9.3, (I forgot what's the consequence)
4. you have ever claimed the BTS in BitShares 2.0. In this case you can't claim again.

To check what had happened, perhaps the best way is to leave your PTS address here, so someone who have experience can do something with it. I remember there was tools to check, but I haven't used them for years, so I'm not the best one to help you. To be honest, if you only have some thousands of BTS (which worth a few hundreds of USD right now) and probably already spent, I think it's not the best time to find them out right now.

Finally got everything working ! Total BTS shows about 18,000. Not bad for just mining proshares back in the day for a little while. I just looked up the price of BTS back during the 2017/18 bullrun..jesus christ I want to vomit lol. I can't believe I didn't look into this harder back during the bullrun when I was searching all my old usb drives for coins that I use to mine. I sold every other coin at the time but now I remember why I never messed with the protoshares wallet b/c there was so many steps to getting these into BTS so I just skipped it.

Is BTS still a legit project or would it be wise to just sell what I have now? I mean if this project is still ongoing and has a future, there is no point of me selling now, I may as well just hold them another 5 years or so.
Where did this 18,000 BTS show? What account was it? Any screenshot?

Honestly not sure how I got to it, At one point i'm positive it showed my balance as that much, then over the weekend trying this again, I seen at one point my balance was at 3397.03....from what I am seeing I think there is 3 keys to my wallet? Maybe each key has a certain amount?

I've made like 3 accounts so far trying this over and over. Here are the account names

lj-123413413134

lj8383203030

lll38348373

I've imported the .json files and the .bin files so many times but when I go to lookup balance, it says no unclaimed balances found

lj-123413413134 is a new account with no activity.

lj8383203030 doesn't exist on the blockchain (maybe failed to register).

lll38348373 is a new account with no activity.

So far you're safe (at least you didn't import your balances to someone else's account).

haha well thats good, just not good that I can't see or claim any of the balances. When I go to import the original keys.json file, it says, 3 key imported, It looks good, then I go to check the balance but nothing. From what I am reading is there some kind of glitch in the windows version? I think I may have to go ride to my parents house tonight and try all this from their computer...they have a Mac.

Wow, so now I have a new problem. My balance isin't showing anymore for some reason. I tried going through the whole process again and now when I look up the balance, it says No unclaimed balances found. I have no idea how it worked last night and now it won't work anymore. This software is so confusing.
What's your new account name?

You can claim a balance only once. It should now be sitting in your account.

BTS is still ongoing (don't take that as investment advice, disclaimer disclaimer), with a pretty active community and these nice self-funding mechanisms.
