If the price goes up a bit, more people might mine it.

We will have a difficulty patch before next retarget, then maybe upgrade to DPOS but later

Any estimate on the next re-target?

With same amount of miners: end of August - first half of September

We need the patch even if we want to upgrade later...

I just received some LTB coins from Adam. Even the amount is small I intend to use them in LTB for tipping others and I intend to visit his webpage more often...I never followed LTB for any news or updates regarding crypto. This is about to change for me just because of this small donation.

The point I want to make is that I think we should switch to DPOS and the remaining PTS to be donated. Donate them to anyone who installs Kehotee, to anyone who installs BTS X platform, to anyone who refers someone to Bitshares projects, to anyone who likes the facebook page, to anyone who makes a positive comment about bitshares to reddit, bitcoin talk etc, air drop them to other target communities (maybe NXT,PPC,XCP,Ripple, mastercoin, ethereum).

Can we do that?

Agreed.

Another PTS pool, Beeeeer.org, is going offline August 8th thus would be beneficial to make this switch soon.

I believe this idea was discussed previously and shot down by the community for some reason; don't remember which thread though.

DPOS works, right? Dry run 9 showed that? Then what's to stop the PTS->DPOS migration from happening right now?

Another cool emerging possibility would be to host PTS on the BTSX chain and let it trade there at warp speed.

I wonder what would be the pros and cons of that?

I think it's important to keep tentacles out in other places--free marketing. Relying too much on the BTSX chain may limit the number of new people who find it. If PTS (or its successor) is trading on the exchanges that the Bitcoin/crypto folks know well, they'll be much more likely to pay attention, become curious, and maybe buy in. Having a high ranking currency is like having a big billboard out in the crypto space, versus dragging the ad into your garage. Maybe you'll get people into your garage, but a lot of potentials won't find it that way. If we want people to find us, we need an iron in the fire. I think we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot by not having an external currency. Now that's not to say that it couldn't be copied or forked, so there could be currency opportunities in two places at once. I do rather like the idea of a warp speed currency on BTSX, but it cannot be the only one.

+5%

Why have a market peg when you can go real ...

Con: if the DPOS blockchain fails so does PTS :(

I think the plan is to migrate PTS to DPOS sometime after the BitShares toolkit is released
