I'm getting a similar problem now in Windows 8. I tried uninstalling and re-installing, since I have the .dat backup on another disk. This is what I'm seeing still. Lots of free space still on my drive. Any suggestions?

make a backup of your wallet.dat file and remove the other files .. then start over again and let the blockchain sync

How do I make a back up if I cant access the wallet interface? I have "show hidden files" checked, but I only see  Bitshares-PTS.exe, Bitshares-ptsd.exe and uninstall.exe .

Noob here sorry xd

Make a backup of wallet.dat located here: "C:\Users\<Your User>\AppData\Roaming\BitShares-PTS", when delete all except wallet.dat and start the client again.

Ok thanks, it's loading and starting to sync again.

Also, I made a transaction to cryptsy about 4 hours ago before the client crashed and it shows in the client that the transaction was sent but I never received any PTS. The explorer also does not show any transaction. I'm assuming it didn't go through?

PTS network work slow, check within 3-4 hours you should get it on cryptsy.

Going on 15 hours still no coins?
