Current block target is anything below: 000007994a000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

There are many orphans right now, so things that might be a solution can not end up in the chain.

Two things, where can i read more about block targets, i don't get what you mean by what you said.

Second thing, why are there so many orphans, is there some technical reason for a lot of orphans specific to protoshares codebase?

There are a lot of orphans because the rate at which blocks are found right now is faster than the network latency.   This is why bitcoin targets 10 minute blocks and we target 5 minute blocks.  But 30 seconds blocks means that hash power is only 50% of the equation, the rest is how fast you can get the block published.   Once the difficulty catches up orphans will no longer be a problem.

@ bytemaster

When you sleep some of us wake.  Maybe you could employ someone trusted to manage the pool if it breaks?

Yep, I am working with some guys now because I don't have time to manage the pool.

Woooooo! looks like i found one of the blocks last night!

You are all very welcome.  8)

Edit: can someone explain the difficulty for PTS to me.  So we are looking for hashes that currently have four leading zeros, correct?  So is there also a fractional part of the difficulty? how is that calculated, for example, later the same night i found another hash, with four leading zeros and it was not a block solution.  Bytemaster, maybe you can help me understand this better?

Question:

Whats the difference in Collision and Hash Per Minute?

Is it the same?

They are the same.  I consider a HPM the number of potential block solutions per minute.    I don't like CPM because if you want to be honest then CPM should be 50% HPM because for every collision there are 2 potential block solutions.    Either way, we are both calculating the same thing.

Guys,  yes its down.  Bytemaster is probably away / asleep.  This is still beta and no doubt its been DDOS by another mining pool out of spite.  Once bytemaster is awake he will investigate.

THIS HAPPENS ON ALL POOLS not just this pool.  Its a regular occurrence in the PTS world at the moment as its very new.

Once things settle and networks get stronger, this will not happen as much as it does with all pools.
Not on all pools. This pool is work http://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=236.0

That's bytemaster's other pool, lol. The miner it uses is much slower, it's his old miner.

I do not understand how can this be?
The award is reduced or what?

If you read back a few pages, you'll see his explanation in greater detail.
TL;DR - It's proportional.
