General Discussion / Re: Short Term Roadmap
« on: November 04, 2015, 03:12:41 pm »
@bytemaster
And what about these tasks:
- A migration solution for the owners of a larger number of private keys (what is the progress here?)
- The affiliate part of the referral program practically working on Open Ledger (maybe it's already done and I just don't know about it?)
- API ready for trading bots (as far as I know, we are still missing the ability to query your open orders)
- Worker/Committee proposal creation on the GUI level

I hope we can see more than 2 'real' committee members.  There are 9 inits and 2 com members - bitcrab and clayop - total 11 active com members.  When bitcrab was voted in, puppies was voted out. When clayop was voted in, bitcrab was voted out.  And now, when bitcrab was voted in, mindphlux was voted out.  How can we have more than 2 'real' committee members?

easiest way is @bytemaster voting out 3 of the inits

Ya I get the link removal that's understandable however the official builds are borked. But this guy brings shame to the community with his arrogance. FYI there are several exchanges that have been having trouble and have received little if any real world help (and they know who I am since i am not new in the exchange owners circle). Which is partially because integrating into an exchange is a bit more complex than most would think.

Providing build instructions instead of binary file would be the correct approach.

Nothing against Charles... but why do you guys care so much what he thinks about bts?  And why are you complaining that he didn't talk about your coin in an interview?

There are probably a lot better ways to promote bts than sitting here whining about Charles
He himself brought an interview to bitshares forum in which he does not mention bitshares. And keeps demanding to discuss the interview. Doesnt it seem odd?

Reaction in this thread is normal imo.

yeap, it was a democratic decision made by the commitee members in 4 minutes if you read the post in the top.

So you have a proposal to be a commitee member?

I'm out. This is a huge disappointment

You've been in for 5 minutes....if you sell, you sell...but check back in on this thread in 30 days and let's talk.

We should make a FUDder/troll list :)

Some random thoughts:

Avon ladies are the ones actually selling the product/making profit for the company. The reason avon can pay the ladies their cut is because their profit margin is large. When your cost is 1$ and sell it for 50$, there is much room for sharing the profit with the "referrer".

Look at Apple products, and their technical equivalents. They are also able to sell with a very large margin for profit.

Bitshares has, let me say, state of the art blockchain backend for the time being. What it needs is the apple product packaging and avon lady referral system. It has the avon lady framework ready to use, and is waiting for some enterpreneurs to build "apple" style wallets.

If you can market your product, and actually provide utility, people will pay you the extra bit.

I dont agree with your last sentence, that it is bad on both fronts. Then again, I am not that smart of a man. Dont take my word for investment advice :)

It's dropping like a rock!

Username spam is breaking bitshares.

I dont see the connection between price drop and account spam. There is no issue/defect on the network due to account registrations.

General Discussion / Re: Recent Network Split Analysis
« on: October 14, 2015, 08:53:18 pm »
Around 2015-10-14T19:21:39  dele-puppy attempted to claim a vesting balance (his witness pay) and as a result the network split 60/40 because 40% of the witnesses thought the transaction was invalid.

As a result the last irreversible block hung around block 33845 (the block prior to the one that forked the network).   The blockchain grew to 269 blocks before 2/3's of the witnesses managed to agree and extend the last irreversible block back to the typical 20 to 30 behind the head block number.

In this situation everyone on the network was accurately reporting the state and the user interfaces indicated to the users that their operations were pending confirmation.   Any / all exchanges following the last irreversible block would have been OK.

We have determined the cause is due to some non-deterministic behavior in witness pay that resolves itself with a replay.   After replaying the blockchain all witnesses agreed the transaction was valid.

We will continue to monitor the blockchain for issues as we look for the underlying cause.   In the meantime this particular failure can be mitigated by witnesses periodically replaying their blockchain.

Despite the "bug" everything is working just fine and your funds are safe.

Would love to hear details.

Technical Support / Re: No Affiliate System at launch

Using the referral system at this moment seems a bit vague.

Is there a method in place for us non-wallet providers to refer a user and get some portion of the referral credit?

If so, what is/are the page(s)/website(s) we are are supposed to refer a user to?

If so, please provide an example of the exact way we should format the link with our referral code.

Thank you.
this.

I dont have a business on chain to run but I have a couple friends to sign.

At least provide a convenient mechanism where we (me and CNX) get to share the fees earned.

General Discussion / Re: Bot
« on: October 08, 2015, 08:31:21 am »
On buying a bot: simply don't if the source code is not open and free to change and use. And only buy to see the code :)

Who wants to sell a bot?
- An exchange that wants liquidity. And also it will earn money via fees.
- A bot developer who thinks the bot can only earn money by selling the bot!!! I mean if your bot really earns money, why would you sell it? You just keep your exponential winnings to yourself.
- An exchange player who wants the market to behave in a certain way.

I dont see a winning scenerio in buying a bot in long term if your only intention is to use bots written by others.
