PTS is liquid and will remain liquid.
PTS is receiving a gradual snapshot as features are implemented on a time table that is similar to when PTS would have received their snapshots.
PTS is receiving retro-active snapshot to several DACs that they were not expecting to get any cut in.

PTS is getting a very good deal compared to the reality they were facing before... 10 relatively illiquid DACs with divided dev teams competing with each other released over several years.

General Discussion / Re: 10% dilution = 650,000 BTS a day
« on: October 23, 2014, 02:50:20 am »
Every employee of bitshares will be a delegate. That includes BM, Stan, toast, hopefully Brian and anyone else that is paid a salary by us shareholders. They all have a set pay rate for their delegate, and when they first apply to become a delegate, we shareholders vote them in if we think their salary is fair vs their contribution. We will have some common framework for transparency, I imagine it's gonna be something like they have to make a report of their work each week. Kinda like the current bbx hangouts, but for every employee individually and with a lot more detail. Shareholders can then vote for or against the delegates they like, and if someone uncovers any evidence of a delegate not doing their job properly, they can mount a campaign to get them thrown out.

This sort of flat structure seems incredibly inefficient. Hierarchies are useful. In my view we should keep the delegate count at 101 and separate out their roles from all other business supporting the DAC. They should only be trusted to be a decentralized group of vetted individuals (or small organization) capable of running the servers and with their interests aligned with BTS so that they can keep the consensus engine running. When we have a reliable consensus engine, we can then use generic shareholder voting to decide on all other DAC matters. This includes paying the income to the companies/organizations/individuals that will work for the interest of the DAC. These companies can have whatever organization they need to be efficient, but will obviously need to satisfy certain transparency requirements to the shareholders so that the shareholders can decide whether to keep paying them money. The shareholder voting can also be used decide on other important matters of the DAC other than who to pay money. One of the most important decisions is on whether to activate hard fork features (which bytemaster recently described in another thread). But there can be far more agile decisions (no 75% super majority needed) made for lesser issues by the shareholders directly.

Just because every employee is a delegate doesn't mean they cannot have organizational structure. The delegate slate feature allows a team leader to nominate the other delegates on his team, and they can in turn nominate people even further below them. The way I imagine it will end up looking is that we will have these huge nested delegate hierarchies for the different development projects and marketing and other functions. What makes this system so insane is that it has the ability to basically scale infinitely and every new employee will have the ability to organize itself transparently and frictionlessly into the grander hierarchy. As the DAC grows, the speed at which new people are hired will increase exponentially as long as there is an equal influx of active stakeholders who vote actively in whatever little niche they have an interest.

The ability for the system to self organize with no barriers to entry and perfectly aligning economic incentives is going to cause the speed of growth to be completely absurd. It's mind blowing.

And there is nothing to stop a single delegate from being a self-organizing team or small business.
I expect to see many popular personalities get together to form a single, more electable delegate team as competition heats up.

I think I just felt the world change... again.

Yet another example of why Bitshares has the best dev team in the business.

Remember, all investments are ultimately investments in people.

Good advice.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

you are right. so i just invested in the wrong people - oh, sry - they are the same you are talking, but maybe you are on the sunny side of the merger and i am not  ;)

The majority of my investment in Bitshares was AGS and PTS, pre and post Feb. 28.

We are probably on the same side.

What I see is a great dev team doing whatever it takes to push out the best tech possible.

Ultimately this approach will maximize returns for shareholders.

Short term vs. long term greed...

Note:  as market cap grows dilution percentages can fall even as spending increases.... as the system matures fees can cover operating expenses and growth.

This.

Non-voters should be taxed at a higher rate.

Alternatively, voting could be a prequisite for accessing essential services - fire, police, medical etc.

If folks want the privileges of democratic society they should participate.

General Discussion / Re: BitShares the Platform

Excellent post... just let the term 'mall' die a peaceful death and be buried in an unmarked grave.

The concept is helpful but the connotation and imagery is not something a tech like Bitshares should associate with.

But I'm picky...

General Discussion / Re: new bts have a big bug,BM is the big bug
« on: October 23, 2014, 02:14:34 am »
I confess... I am a bug.  I have many buggy ideas, and imperfectly implement my vision...

*PLEASE* help me fix this bug... anyone...

the Change is good. but I dislike about the allocation plan, and i think it is unfair for PTS and DNS holders. i hate the recent down trend of the coin price. i think this event hurt many people's hearts. i think you should really rethink about the allocation plan, it is really unfair.

but, i think BM you are right for what you did. you deserve some praise for what you did. just come on and don't be bothered by someone's mean words. i think at least now, you deserve everyone's  respect.

i think in order to build a great business, there would be a lot of sacrifices. many people may be dead on the way. therefore, change is a good thing. i think the whole process would also happen in the initiative phase in Apple or Facebook.

i think at least now, you did a satisfying job from my own perspective. i am always quite worried about the future of 3I and the whole thing, but i still think there is some hope and that is why i hold all four assets  PTS AGS BTS and DNS.  i think i would choose to believe you and your team could really make sth innovative and invaluable.

Just focus on your thing. i hope you could be heros someday and all of us could be rich men, especailly you and your team members.

Omelettes and eggs.

Now let's get cooking...

I will read through it today .. but from my understanding this would allow something merchants are dreaming of..

sending encrypted invoices to costumers, which they just have to agree by mouse click!

Wow.

General Discussion / Re: Welcome back to $50MM Market Cap

I've been buying all the way down and back up.

I'm not selling a single share until $10/BTS.

We should really have a $1 or $10 pledge...

New chain (BTS) that will fork from BTSX and honor PTS, DNS, VOTE, and AGS... simple upgrade and exchanges will simply rename BTSX to BTS.

Buy BTSX gives you 1:1 stake in BTS.... and you just upgrade your wallet.
Buy PTS gives will give you a slight advantage if you are willing to let your funds vest over 2 years.
Buy DNS gives will give you a similar advantage if you are willing to let your funds vest over 2 years.
BitAssets, Accounts, and User Issued assets are unaffected.

I will only be focusing on BTS and it will incorporate the features of DNS, KeyID, BTSX, VOTE and Ethereum on one chain called BitShares (BTS).

Play/Music are currently planning their own separate chains that will borrow our technology but still plan to honor PTS/AGS.

*note....whether or not the PTS/DNS price reflects a fair discount is hard to say.

PTS & DNS will continue as a chains that must find and grow the own community and leaders.

Moon is for pussies.

General Discussion / Re: Let's peg stock market indices: S&P, Dow, Nasdaq
« on: October 22, 2014, 11:19:54 pm »
Yield on DJIA or SP500 or any number of other indices would/will make an incredibly compelling investment case.

Pegged indices will happen, just a matter of time.

Folks need to let I3 get this bird off the ground.

General Discussion / Re: Perspective is Everything

Do folks really want to model DACs on traditional corporate paradigms?

Take BM and the key devs up into the ivory tower and have all correspondence vetted and neutered by the PR police to ensure the share price is not inconvenienced?

The whole point of DACs is to implement a public and transparent business model with direct and unencumbered lines of communication to shareholders.

BM saw an opportunity and presented it to the community.

Funny how folks love to knock big bank/corp/gov but push to recreate the same systems they deride.

Freedom and security do not run together.

Respect to BM for his candour and courage.

Devs need to a roadmap out stat explaining the dilution mechanism.

Could spiral into a PR problem very quickly.
