Volume is going up, it's just the weight of bears. We'll shake them off for good with Azure news next week, then they'll have to start buying back  +5%

+5% :P .. Now we anticipate the blog posts

"As Rootstock does not mint, nor has pre-mined coins, then it has no speculative value and does not compete with Bitcoin."

Never understood chains like that, maybe someone can explain? If they are decentralized and don't have an internal value, how do they pay the nodes running the network?

Start with an mvp, then make it simpler, then make it stupid simple, then make it simpler than that,  then make it easier to use, then make it idiot proof, then make it visually appealing,  then make it blindingly obvious  :P

We're at step 2 with this feature, but that's how it goes, take baby steps to da moon and enjoy the ride  ;)

r/bitcoin is crazy.. r/reddit in general is fishy.. I do notice that the tide is turning for us though, we're getting decent exposure in r/CryptoCurrency through various news, and people seem much more open to hearing our message now than even 6 months ago

Great set of episodes!

TheDailyDecrypt should consider a BitShares worker as a source of income as well. Due to the decentralized governance around here no one is in charge, but i'm sure you would be voted in with decent compensation to help explain what's going on in the BitShares ecosystem. #hiredbytheblockchain :)

people on poloniex are really curious about bitshares

traders are skeptical, afraid to be dumped on, disappointments

meanwhile there is general recognition now compared to before that the tech is useful and brilliant

BTS wrecked a ton of people in october because the insiders and original pts miners dumped when 2.0 released.  That pretty much made people not trust BTS.

Yeah we need to be genuinely humble this time around. It's easy to forget for outside observers that we're just a decentralized community doing our best to create a usable financial platform. This time around I think people are interested and receptive to our core tech and message though, so it's a great opportunity to invite people to be part of our community, slack etc. :)

General Discussion / Re: Marketing plan for Bitshares 2.1
« on: March 06, 2016, 07:04:39 pm »
@Samupaha  is clearly stepping up. He just needs the core information required to do so.

If we want to use this possibility for focused marketing effort, we need to know only two things:

1) Is the version number going to change to 2.1?
2) When the hardfork is going to happen?

@bytemaster, @Stan , @xeroc give him some fuel

For what it's worth i'd vote for a Samupaha worker (:

hopeful we can finally break 1.5 year downtrend if we get on Azure next week  +5%

The biggest problem with any focus in branding is how to get network effect.

And finally, I don't understand why @CLains is so hung up on having 3 main menu items vs. 4.  It's only a slight improvement.

We need to put it up for a vote if we want to find out if it's a slight or major improvement (3>4). In the other thread I concluded it was just me, because both you and svk went against my suggestion. Here however it seems several people also have the impression that there's too much information with a fourth "explorer" bar. I just think we need lots of eyes on this and feedback from as many people as we can. The ultimate judge is user-friendliness, not logical structure.

I'll offer the following blurb.  It draws on the submissions offered within this thread and seeks to inform a blockchain professional what BitShares is at the highest level.

The BitShares blockchain is a Financial Services platform for SmartCoins coupled with a decentralized asset exchange. SmartCoins are price-stable digital assets pegged to the current value of various currencies, commodities, stocks and other financial instruments.  The BitShares blockchain “witnesses” public data from world financial markets to “publish” pricing information to the decentralized asset exchange.  Markets are made and the blockchain enforces all SmartCoin parameters and transactions.  The industrial-grade blockchain is currently operating at a 3-second block interval with peaks to thousands of transaction per second. BitShares is delivering today on the promises of blockchain functionality, scalability and speed.  Spin up an Ubuntu VM with the software to get connected in about 15 minutes.

bump  +5%

More eyes on this. Important! :)

But I'm in Monero, so therefore I am required to think Zcash and Dash are both scams. :)

Not to be too off-topic, but what's the problem with Dash?

As for moving the explore icons onto the dashboard, there is negligible upside (if any at all).

The feeling is that giving people three choices is a lot better than giving them four.
