Haven't checked the math, but sounds about right to me. The high profit you mention is absorbed by the labour and capital costs I would think.

CSO - we could do with an FAQ on this.

Thanks! 500MMC tip on its way to you.

I think its fully functional and useful enough now to recommend to our users.

Thinking of some future potential improvements -

1. Advising user if MMC address not configured and refusing to start mining.
2. Prompting for Wifi network selection / password (I guess difficult to auto configure wifi hardware)
3. GPU mining (I guess difficult to auto configure gpu drivers)
4. Not sure if it's safe to remove the USB after starting mining - seems to work ok on one machine, not on another. Would be useful for booting up a room full of PCs from a single USB drive. Maybe copying OS to RAM disk or similar.

MemoryCoin / Re: Opinion Vote in the Blockchain
« on: January 31, 2014, 07:42:16 pm »
Since the elections are constantly ongoing, this is quite pointless. Just vote for someone else if you disapprove and within 20 blocks you disapproval is relevant rather than part of a non consequential poll.

I agree (somebody check my temperature) - since the officeholders can change, the approval rating would need to rate an individual or entity, whether they were in office or not.

Vote to Grade an Officer!

Rank Officers from 9 (Bad) to 1 (Good)

Or, for political debate: 9 (Left) to 1 (Right)

Donate to support private development.  Any tips received will be used to make Officers dance hire Officers for private development.

Send vote to:

Hmm - an approval rating for different officers could be interesting . . . I think you'd just have a vote for either approve/disapprove . . and look at the percentages.

MemoryCoin / Re: MemoryCoin branding a major issue ?
« on: January 30, 2014, 07:01:24 pm »
I really think this is a serious topic, I would like to know what Free trade thinks about this. I am confident that a rebrand followed by a strong marketing campaign will take this coin to new levels.

I think a rename or a rebrand would be a bad idea - I think we want to communicate stability and continuity at this stage of our growth, not change.

You could set up a blockchain vote to poll shareholders if you feel strongly about it though.

I'm all for a strong marketing campaign.

AV=1 is taken from config file, just change it to 0 for auto-tuning. I will make it default in next release.

Thanks - the ideal would be to have it start with AV=0, then write the results to the config so that next time it starts with the best config.

For AES-NI part, I don't get it. Script is looking for aes flags in /proc/cpuinfo. Can you check this file if it contains 'aes' flag?

Not sure how to do that. Looks like we need a more reliable way to find out about AES support - or maybe start with AES-NI switched on, and if that process fails, switch to AES-NI off.

That's Blunt Trauma (very undignified), closely followed by Lone Gunman, and Drowning.

Keep the votes coming in, and start creating your own polls - it can be used for serious as well as frivolous questions.

Come on Freetrade - why you always steal my ideas? This is just like my Distributed Autonomous Machine Network program...

LOL - yes, unless stated otherwise, all my good ideas come from my evil nemesis MaxPWR. Thanks Max, you're a continual inspiration to me.

MemoryCoin / Miner LiveCD / Live USB Distribution
« on: January 30, 2014, 09:07:49 am »
I'm thinking we could use MCF funds to start a LiveCD or LiveUSB distribution project.

The LiveUSB/LiveCD miner is getting close to high efficiency for CPUs

I think a distribution project where we charge a nominal fee . . . then configure a CD with the address the funds were received from, and post it to the user, or maybe a USB would be easier, but probably open to more abuse.

Okay - latest test

Uses correct chipset YAM (ivy-bridge)
Uses correct memory amount 7GB
Uses correct threads (0)

Fails to detect AES-NI (i get 0.2 HPM rather than 10HPM!)
Uses AV=1 . . . shouldn't it be AV=0 for fine tuning?

CSO - could you do a search for all links to memorycoin.info and ask the sites to update to memorycoin.org - coinmarketcap, bter, etc.
Also links to the old block explorer etc.

General Discussion / The Distributed Autonomous Non-Profit (DAN)
« on: January 29, 2014, 06:47:12 pm »
I've had some thoughts on it and I have a model that I think would work well - I give you -

The Distributed Autonomous Non-Profit. (DAN, so named, just to tease him)

Based on MemoryCoin (which itself could be viewed as a DAN) with the following differences -

1. 100% Premined - distributed to trusted organizations in the sector, or a benevolent philanthropist
2. 100% Proof-of-Stake (because mining is wasteful)
3. Angels (instead of officers, varying numbers with varying salaries)
4. Proxy voting (so Philanthropists can delegate governance)

Here's how it works -

1. Angels - these are the people or organizations who are working to forward the DAN's manifesto. They announce their projects or goals and ask for votes. If they win a position, they receive a salary in the DAN's shares which they have discretion to use to further their projects and goals.

2. Philanthropists - these are the people who buy and hold the DAN's shares. By keeping shares off the market it boosts the DAN's share price, boosting funds for the Angels. They can keep score with other Philanthropists and never lose their investment - they can sell it anytime if they lose confidence in the DAN, or pass it onto their heirs. They can even increase their investment by supporting DAN's that other Philanthropists later want to support. Their contribution is the risk that the DAN's share price declines.

3. Governors - someone needs to keep an eye on the Angels to make sure they're delivering on their promises. Governors can ask for a Philanthropist's proxies - a Philanthropist therefore doesn't need to get involved with voting directly for Angels, they just need a Governor that they trust, and vote a proxy. A Governor might also be an Angel and vice versa.

Angels are motivated to deliver to keep Governors voting for them.
Governors are motivated to choose good Angels so that Philanthropists give them their proxies.
Philanthropists are motivated to choose good Governors to keep their investment valuable.
