General Discussion / Re: Consortium Wallet Idea
« on: February 04, 2016, 03:48:39 pm »
In the forum thread 'Fantasy or Inevitability' Bitshares was mentioned in an article "... the BitShares team habitually over-promises and under-delivers". Whilst i think thats a little harsh it brings up a similar point that Adam B. Levine said in the interview he did with BM where he said "Bitshares has the best technology out there but it suffers from basic usability issues".

A new user recently posted here "It's really confusing. As an outsider looking in I have no idea what's going on. Yes, the technology is cutting edge, but I have no idea what benefits it has to me. The message is being lost."

IDEA:

I see a commonality here and I think there is an opportunity to design a better wallet to attract new users and compete with the existing. A focus on usability is a huge profit opportunity. I do not have the skills to do this myself and so i thought i would ask if there are people out there interested in getting together to fund the design of a new wallet and split the potential rewards according to their stake?

Just an idea.

OPENPOS is working on some of this.  Maybe they can say something about it?  @kenCode
And BitCASH is doing something cool too that makes a wallet focus on one asset, am I right @merivercap ?

they will have it sent to their accounts here most likely--using the sharebot.  :)

General Discussion / [poll] Sharebits or Sharebit?
« on: February 03, 2016, 05:06:32 pm »
We are in a discussion right now and would like to reach out to the community to get their opinion on the topic.

Should a single token in the sharebits system be called a single "sharebit" or should it be a single "sharebits"?

Please explain your reasoning for a COPPERTICKET.

When will Sharebits be available on FaceBook ?  :)

The way we have set it up is that the "buyback" tokens will go to a "burn" account.  when tokens are burned, this takes them out of the market.  So the more we use it (and the more effectively we use it), the more income will be ised to destroy some of the tokens.  Once, say, 50k tokens are burned...we could approach holders and ask them if it is ok to create another 50k tokens to sell in a second donation phase.  This could be done on a semi-regular basis and could be used to pay for the other functionalities you may wish to have.  If the majority of holders believe it is worth it they will say yes to "dilution" of their token in exchange for a "value injection" into the platform.

However, i must admit that it might not be entirerely necessary to add such functionality for some time to come because we have "link-sharing" which can be used to share tokens through a url sent to people on every platform that allows urls (pretty much everywhere!)

This project has been updated with an important notice.  Please note the above thread has added the following additions:

--Notice of Sharedrop Account Omission:  Exchange Accounts and Accounts with Minimum Threshold Holdings of 10k BTS.
--Addition of Sharedrop Use Case #5:  Ronny Boesing's 2 consecutive sharedrops on Obits and BROWNIE.PTS holders.

I can say that @fav says the current referral system is not making him enough to be worth it.  Though I am unsure how the other tokens he works with are, that is another discussion.  I am glad he brought this up, however, because it brings us to the question of how much more can all the businesses being currently built like --- OpenLedger.info (Obits), Sharebits.io (Sharebits), OPENPOS...etc, that rely on these fees to reward those who donated to their cause, if we make it more difficult for them.

I am actually wondering why we don't go with something like 50/50 where referrers get more. And before people begin thinking I am saying this because of my involvement with sharebits, I want you to consider how much competition businesses like ours would receive coming in from the crypto ecosystem if the referral rewards went significantly higher.

I mean there are multiple ways to skin a cat of course, but I personally think it is another angle worth discussing.

You can't sell them and expect to receive the benefits from keeping them at the same time.
Choose your decisions and live with the consequences.
I do, I was just wondering if bytemaster still pays brownies like in the past. Since last brownie shower I worked 4 hours a day minus 10 days.

the Brownie thread will be the place to post.  I want to be able to help him with it but it will divide the community too much and the community working together at this stage is of utmost importance.

Thanks for the discussion and helping to keep this reminder in the public eye.  It is imperative that those who receive sharedrops know at least 14 days in advance and have time to prepare and migrate the tokens being sharedropped on into their wallets.  You are helping us ensure this.  So it is greatly appreciated!

I didn't want to hold like last time and be a loser again

The only thing that makes a loser is his/her mindset.  If you think you are going to lose, you will... :/
So instead lets kick ass, try, fail, try, take steps forward and continue gaining bit by bit until we DO win :)

I would like to begin a discussion here with a perspective rooted in the necessity of Separations of Power with special focus on fee pool usage by the committee.

Should the committee have the ability to use the fee pool for their own purposes or should there be stringent guidelines set?  Early on this might not seem like a big deal, but as the game heats up and new actors attempt to disrupt us it may become something very important to have had addressed.

For instance, should the committee be able to use the fee pool for advertising, press releases...etc?
Or should the committee be able to only tweak parameters and report to the community?

What I'm looking for here is a robust discussion and attempts to help delineate the guidelines by which the fee pool is used.  Let's discuss why the committee should and shouldn't be given these abilities.  I personally have my own opinions, but what good are they if they are not able to be changed with the processing of new information?  I am trying to gather information at this stage.

All those who participate will receive 5 COPPERTICKET because I think this is very important to focus on.
