General Discussion / Re: Slogan Poll

Stan put forward:

Bitshares. You can bank on it.

This is extensible:

Bitshares. You can bet on it.
Bitshares. You can vote on it.
Bitshares. You can trade on it.

That's freaking awesome.

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8791.75 would have been a better place.

But as discussed here, additional bitAsset markets will do more harm than good if they aren't liquid. I'm trying to assist in making bitAsset markets, and I'd appreciate a cuddly bot template. There are a few floating around, but the operating instructions aren't intelligible to the technologically mortal among us. A last-mile problem that may be solved by the 'planned' addition of market maker tools to the client software (notwithstanding the gaming risks therein).

I'm reluctant to duplicate effort, so calling for hints about the proposed addition of such functionality, and/or about the existing community offerings.

Be assured, I don't actually shit out posts until I've followed every other relevant thread to its end.

Ugh. I had a competent Bitstamp/LocalBitcoins bot. I 'clean installed' every known copy of it. Amazing. So I reckoned I'd start anew in bitAssets, with something off the shelf. Nope. I'm only 75% developer, and the Python hasn't been the worst part.

Is this kind of functionality too nuanced to be incorporated into GUI any time soon, as 'planned', or must I persevere?

Abstaining. Uncomfortable with all.

I feel that the community would benefit from more people familiarising themselves this thread. That is to say, bump.

It's a feature, not a bug! It prevents people from dumping on an exchange... LOL

I have never called anybody an idiot...But it is as good case as it  gets...

Y so serious, tonyk? Couldn't see the humor in this?

Some good, dark humour. But I believe one has to be British to laugh so heartily at their own misfortune? I'm not trying to dump, on the contrary. This situation is becoming so ugly, it must be a buy op. But being unable to sync sure makes a compelling case for dumping out of frustration.

I suppose I should get off my arse, present a delegate, and start seeding. But then, how would I sync the fucking things?

Man is basically famous for freewheeling, wooly chatter while sitting uninvited on everyone's lap. Like the laughable end of the spectrum of psychosis.

Naww.

Here's a different perspective; let's chain him to his desk.

I sincerely believe deflation does not hurt, except for those in debt. Debt is supposed to be painful, that's the whole point. Many causes of inflation reward indebtedness.

If you had a big, over-due bill, you would be forced to sell assets at your disposal to pay it, even if those assets were mathematically bound to appreciate.

Economies do not want 'kick-starting'. It is absolutely trivial to expand a GDP by debasing the unit in which it is measured, one of many good arguments that it is folly to measure an economy's performance by GDP, especially in isolation.

General Discussion / Re: Demand for BitUSD: What are the low hanging fruit?
« on: September 03, 2014, 03:16:54 pm »
Yeah, there are always other assets, but fake gold exists, and the tests are costly. Plus, these alternative assets are easily stolen, or 'seized' (if you prefer).

bitUSD is unique for its supposed combined crypto-fiat qualities.

Technical Support / Re: BitsharesX wallet 0.4.7 crashs on Mac(10.9.4)
« on: August 28, 2014, 02:32:42 am »
I however opted not to reset, still everything worked fine after a few restarts on my mac.

The problem with the Mac client is certainly of GUI specificity. My interface was misreporting my sync status. That became evident once I'd discovered considerable sync progress, within minutes of a 'hopeless' restart.

General Discussion / Re: Cost of Creating an Asset?
« on: August 28, 2014, 02:24:46 am »
I implore you to significantly reduce the asset registration fee.

BitSharesX is surely the pinnacle of free market wet dreams. Let the shit-funds pay their $50 registration fees, in today's coin. That all goes to the shareholders.

Presently charging a mere 159,488.1792 btsx, at time of writing. Heck of an anti-spam obstacle... Please reduce somewhat, before early-adopters are unduly punished as usual..
