General Discussion / Slick Bitcoin trading UI
« on: July 16, 2014, 05:08:06 am »
We should get ahold of those guys and see if they are interested in a bounty to make trading interface to BTSX via RPC calls and visualize market depth / BitUSD charts.

(Any way to embed videos on this forum?)

General Discussion / Reason for jump in MaidSafe price

Interesting visualization. Makes me want to do a similar time lapse visualization for our delegates.

Getting closer to a viable product.

As an aside: Shouldn't MaidSafe have its own sub-forum here? They are way ahead of Truthcoin that already has a sub-forum.

General Discussion / Dry Run 8 Delegate Payout Issues
« on: July 10, 2014, 09:33:08 pm »
So let's discuss pay outs here...

I can't figure out why the payment is still not reflected in my account.

What can I do to help debug this issue?

General Discussion / Liquid AGS via BTSX?
« on: July 08, 2014, 09:02:19 pm »
What if... once BTSX is live, someone issues an AGS asset on the BTSX chain?

Someone, being Invictus, a delegate, or someone else, if this is still not satisfying the "regulatory environment".
But I can't see why it would be a problem, if it wasn't a problem issuing BTSX for AGS holders to begin with.

Once the donation period is over, he could just drop it there, couldn't he?

(Assuming there is a way in BTSX to issue/transfer asset to a holder of the private key)

General Discussion / BlockChain + DHT
« on: June 12, 2014, 03:11:25 am »
Not sure if I was considered one of the "ramblers" in the DACs v.s. Firms discussion. I'm passionate about the idea of using a thin BlockChain + DHT to store the data.

It will be interesting to see how well this project here solves it:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/612530753/gitchain

It is very similar to my concept (and it's nothing new, technically GIT already is a blockchain since it uses hashes for all the commits).

Once there is a decentralized GIT hosting, there could be many interesting solutions. For example the source code for a DAC could live on the chain itself!!! So even if GitHub gets shutdown, or a project gets booted off GitHub, it will continue to live in the cloud.

MemoryCoin / MMC -> LottoShares
« on: May 24, 2014, 05:10:36 pm »
I am glad FreeTrade will be donating to MMC with the new LottoShares. However I am a bit surprised that the snapshot will be end of May (less than a week away).

I am also surprised he did not announce anything on this board. If you don't move your MMC out of BTER by end of May, you will lose participation in the snapshot. (according to FreeTrade's announcement)

I would suggest that FreeTrade extends the deadline to a more reasonable time like end of June, in order for people to become aware of the value MMC will create for them.

Cheers!

LottoShares / Provably fair algorithm.
« on: May 23, 2014, 04:52:10 pm »
If the random number is going to be controlled by FreeTrade, I suggest implementing something like the provably fair method from prime dice:

https://primedice.com/

Check the "verification" section. A "secret" is used for all the bets, then the client is able to generate their own seed to put in the mix, then the next day the secret is revealed to prove there was no foul play.

This increases confidence in the system as exhibited by the total of BTC that was wagered on that site (at the moment of writing 372,454 BTC)

LottoShares / Effect on MemoryCoin price
« on: May 23, 2014, 04:27:00 pm »
Make no mistake the top priority in this launch is pumping FreeTrade's large stake in the depressed MMC, not the users of the Lotto. It's almost like the MaidSafe price fixing for MSC vs BTC, except this one is deliberate. Good luck, just make sure to dump before FreeTrade when/if MMC pops.

BitShares AGS / Crowdfunding using AGS?
« on: May 21, 2014, 04:50:29 pm »
http://www.coindesk.com/new-decentralized-crowdfunding-platform-reshape-bitcoin-landscape/

This is quite inspiring approach.

I think Invictus should allow some % (if not most) of the funds raised by AGS holders to go towards tasks the community wants done. It is their money, they should be allowed to invest in projects they feel are important for the bitshares community.

e.g. If I am a developer and create a fancy UI trading platform that handles BTS X and need more funds to finish it, AGS holders should be allowed to fund me.

In fact there is always space for more than one implementations of the same problem, and it would breed a healthy competition.

Instead we wait for I3 to hire the right person, and *hope* it turns out well. Which even if they do everything right, it's nice to hedge our bets and again - to have a competitive environment.

Again I know I may sometimes come off criticizing or FUD (or even frustrated), but it's only because I have a vision and designs that are major improvements and I would like to see happen. I actually have huge respect for what I3 is doing, I just think that they are somewhat limiting themselves by trying to build an eco-system while maintaining full control of its funding.

This would also really raise confidence in the ecosystem and attract talent, who otherwise might not be interested in participating.

Thoughts? Comments? Would you like to be able to vote with your AGS on what gets developed to help the ecosystem?

General Discussion / BitShares X Trustee
« on: March 28, 2014, 05:12:09 pm »
Can we discuss the latest change suggested by bytemaster?

Is there a whitepaper or more detail on how this would work? Given that this is added in the last minute, I'd like to discuss and make sure there are no attack vectors.

If we are introducing trustees then this is no longer decentralized exchange. I've been mulling over a similar idea where trustees would have to deposit BTC sort of like a license/insurance, that they will not mess with the network, but get commissions off of the transactions, if they get caught not doing the right thing - they get booted and the BTC goes to reimburse affected parties.

In any case - I'd like to see a diagram of how the ecosystem works.
