With Brian we had 1 guy costing circa $10k a month who probably spent an average of $10k a month (badly) so he was overpaid and under-performing.

At the current CAP I would prefer 1 main guy getting $3000 in personal salary with a budget of $12 000.
Then we'd have budget for a new animated video every 2 weeks, always have an advert on a top crypto-currency site (Coindesk/CMC) with our latest feature as well as extra money leftover for other initiatives. We'd only have to monitor 1 main guy and $3000 at least incentivises a bit of  competition. You'd also have $4500  left over for 3 smaller marketing delegate positions.

At the current CAP our system of 9 marketing delegates with $1500 each is hard to keep track of and if they want any personal salary for their efforts their budget becomes miniscule and takes ages to accrue.

However given that's what we have the more initiatives that add accountability and helps them communicate the better.

I think it's clear this shouldn't be messed with in BTS right now as the community consensus is pretty unanimous and specifically because of the negative impact it may have on the Chinese market.

I think the numbers (early Bitcoin as well as new sites) show that a DAC which offered blockchain based BitAsset gambling could easily surpass BitShares.

Bitcoin is the market leader.

I think they had $300 million of VC investment in 2014 that's equal to >10 000 delegates at the current rate.
There are also many businesses that develop products and services for Bitcoin to tap that market again equal to hundreds of paid delegates.
The mainstream media around the world covers Bitcoin which has immense value too.

We will rise and may even surpass Bitcoin in the next two years but looking at the fact that the market leader has no delegates and that we have 27, misses the big picture I think.

General Discussion / Re: First Blockchain funded business

This should not be a delegate. In fact I think we are on the wrong track regarding delegate funding of for-profit businesses. It only makes sense if we are paying to get the advantage of some major infrastructure, like from an exchange. Otherwise it just means the blockchain is subsidizing projects that aren't economically viable enough to raise capital on their own. Delegates only make sense for things that are public goods for all BTS shareholders like core development, open source project development, or bitasset marketing.

Largely Agree. Esp on BitAsset marketing.

It is bitasset marketing since it will use bitassets.. since there will be good deals there will be alot of new bitshares users its garanteed...

Its buying new users.

I like the other stuff you are working on. I'm also a big fan of anything that directly integrates BitAssets.
However this seems a bit niche, you already tried it with devcoin and it didn't get much traction & BTS won't necessarily be different. Are there any other crypto's  with popular auction style sites?

Please everyone vote for jsidhu,  +5%

The shopping cart integrations are essential to bitUSD adoption and as far as I can tell he has been doing great work. Integration with lamassu is also an essential next step for bitAsset adoption.

+5% +5%  It's important to encourage direct BitAsset integration in as many areas as possible.

I'm not sure what the numbers are but the more things we can point to, and the more it looks like BitAssets are being adopted & integrated the better for our valuation.

.... It would be great for BitShares to have the top BitGold video

Now i think this has potential. Think about it - what if we created a really good and professional video for bitgold and promoted it wide and far. Really pushing home the truth about bitgold that differentiates us - where else can you earn interest on gold and hold it without counter party risk? - this could raise our profile in one move on places like youtube.  Maybe offer a free 1oz per day for a week or two in some sort of competition?

BM said we need to use the term BitGold more than our competition. What better way than a controversial, thought provoking, hard hitting professionally made video? Now we'd have to get it right first time. No screw ups.

Just my 2 cents.

Yes I'm pretty sure the BitGold.com  Eric Sprott is an investor in will probably have a BitGold video out as well soon. As I said the BitSharesTV videos get a lot of views so just one titled along the lines of 'BitGold by BitShares'  would be great & have a shot at the top spot in the meantime before we have a BitGold promotion video.

If someone branched bitshares into bingoshares and share-dropped 100% on BTS, I wonder how it would do ;)

Well bingoshares specifically would not do too well imo. But BETShares that incl. bingo but could add other gambling games too that was sharedropped to BTS maybe over a few months. Yes please.

Mainstream adoption will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER happen if the product is clunky, buggy, and looks like shit.  If you think I'm wrong, point me to an example.

Bitcoin.

Their product took ages to download, didn't look great and it takes ages to confirm a transaction.

In 2012 with an average circa $75 million CAP, over 2.5 million BTC were wagered on simple gambling games. http://www.forbes.com/sites/jonmatonis/2013/01/22/bitcoin-casinos-release-2012-earnings/

& in the following year, billions of dollars were wagered at Just-Dice.com. Gambling really helped bootstrap it and gave it a recreational use, up to 60% of transactions in the bootstrapping phase all the way to last year were gambling transactions.

1344
I definitely don't want to mess with anything that could damage BTS in China but BTS is supposed to be a Super-DAC not a SuperLimited/Constrained-DAC. It means we need other DACs.

Online - Bitcoin - & now blockchain based gambling is hugely lucrative.  If our rockstar developers are capable of & want to add gambling to a DPOS blockchain why should they and we miss out on that value.

1345
I'd like blockchain gambling but is a UIA on BTS that is used for gambling OK for BTS in China?

NXT already have 3 gambling UIA's that are in development/beta. Surely we can't stop people from doing what they want with their UIA?

Bet365 is a company with $350 million annual profit and $40 Billion turnover.

Quote
• Bet365 frequently changes its website addresses in China, thereby side-stepping attempts by local regulators to close sites down.

• The company has constructed a complex payments system that allows it to take bets placed using China’s currency, the renminbi.

Sure sounds like they would benefit from using DNS & BitCNY.

In fact there are several dices in NXT.  If we want to do it, then we should make it good. The users should not just the bts holders. It should be on a website as a gateway to attract new blood.

Yes it would be good if there was eventually a website too.

Where are the NXT dice sites? In the wallet?

I had a brief look.

http://neodice.com/

It's a UIA in NXT. It says it's currently in beta. It has a CAP of $130 000. Doubt it will be popular as you have to trade your NXT for NEOCHIPS and then you have to deal with the very slow NXT blockchain (by comparison to centralised site.) Seems you might have to wait 4 minutes + to know if you had a winning spin.

PangeaPoker

It's another UIA on NXT. It has a CAP of $450 000 even though it is a few months away from launch. Not looked into it more. https://nxtforum.org/nxtventures/pangea-poker/

PrivateBet

UIA on NXT. A CAP of $70 000. Casino games and P2P sports betting. Also not launched yet might be same people doing NeoDice. Looks like they won funding/auction from Come-From-Beyond to develop it http://nxter.org/privatebet-asset-nxt-ae/

I don't know about the poker but I imagine the other games will be incredibly slow compared to centralized options, it also seems they will also require you to use UIA tokens as opposed to NXT.

Competitors like NXT are pursuing & working on dice, poker, casino games & P2P sports betting.

You're from South Korea clayop? I was really suprised to see according to Alexa, 25% of BitShares.org visitors are from there. I don't think they count China but still I think that must be a mistake.

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/bitshares.org

Because I put much effort to advertising Bitshares in Korean crypto communities, I think this may be possible. Bitshares 101 Korean version is free and available online now, many people are contacting me with their problems, I regularly update about new client versions and important news. Should I increase my payrate?  :P

+5% +5% Wow, well done  8) If that trend keeps up, then you really should increase your payrate imo!

We are bitcoins killer app.   If we put our egos aside and make the best bitcoin wallet possible with built in hedging, millions will flow into bitUSD and the users will never have evenheard of bitshares.

The bitcoin headline reads....

"Receive and send bitcoin. Hedge bitcoin price without counter party risk.  Bitcoins killer app is here."

I like this idea as it doesn't require a bounty or current developer time to attempt.

The only minor concern I can think of is that by not actively promoting BitShares then Bitcoin users are ambivalent to the product they are using. This gives Bitcoin time to develop a similar solution maybe via side chains? (I don't know anything about technical stuff.) So during this window of opportunity we have to promote BitShares and BitAssets, we would have promoted & empowered Bitcoin with our USP and then be made obsolete once they can replace us with their Bitcoin collateralised or other solution and users wouldn't know the difference.

The concern is worthy of consideration, but I think the upside massively outweighs the potential risk.  Also I have thought about it a bit more and branding of bitUSD will be important.  Still no bitshares branding though.   Getting bitUSD into many users hands is of utmost important.   If that happens market cap skyrockets, devs flood to bitshares, and network effects kick ass.   There is no other opportunity that even comes close to this that I am aware of.

There are already 3 BitGolds on the market, I don't think BitUSD guarantees us a lot of brand protection. Bitcoin could plausibly create a Bitcoin backed 'BitUSD' and it would fit their brand quite nicely especially if the average user didn't  know they were previously using a BitShares BitUSD. I think you're right about the upside being greater than the risks though.
