Difficulty history:
1. pre Feb. 16: 0.014043
2. Feb. 17 to 23: 0.017247 (7 days)
3. Feb. 23 to April 12: 0.036228 duration (51 days)
4. April 12 to 15: 0.01076 (3 days)
5. April 15: 0.041216.

According to http://mrx.im/pts.php, the difficulty will recalculated in 4000+ blocks.
When the difficulty decreased, many people came mining. Profitability was very high.
But as soon as the difficulty increased, we must mine 50 days with nearly zero returns.
We support PTS but with the actual prices of PTS we mine for no income during 50 days.
Once we have finished to wait 50 days, many miners came back and pump all blocks during a few days and want away.

I prefer a difficulty adjusted after each block, as the darkcoin, instead of the current situation.

The original retarget was supposed to be every week, such massive bumps in network hashrate defeat this purpose.
That wasn't supposed to be a problem when PTS was cpu only, which made difficult if not impossible such things.

So either a per block retarged, or per week (fixed), or less blocks retarged.
We are FAR from the 5 minutes block interval

Now you manage your network as you wish, for my part, I will pump when the difficulty is low.

They don't care about it all that much.

If it's hard to mine, people will buy PTS or AGS to invest in Bitshares. Since AGS is a better ROI, people will most likely choose AGS over PTS.  This is to I3's benefit. It puts the money in their control/hands. They are still offering AGS until July. This is why they don't care about PTS' network. Post July, I would bet they begin to care more.

This is the only reason I could come up with as to why they didn't and don't do anything. I guess they might just not care in general.

Yeah, it does suck. I don't like it at all, being the miner type, but I don't see them pulling away the resources needed from other projects to fix the issue for the remaining 19%. Correct me if I'm wrong but, it's a fork, and a client update for all. Sounds like a week or more of work for a lateral movement instead of pushing forward on BTSX, Keyhotee, etc. :-\

They have had over 6 weeks to do something since I started this thread. ;)

They will probably add AGS 2.0 before they "fix" PTS.  :D

Is there any way to get more than ~3300cpm out of my 290x ?
I tried it with the latest beta driver but it does not make a difference.

Switch to linux. Run cgminer/sgminer and set your powertune to +20, now do incremental overclocking until you find your stable clocks. I currently run at 1100/1250 (Core/Memory) and I get about ~4500 c/m per 290X.

Just launch mine.sh, like this --> ./mine.sh

I will be giving this a try within the next couple of days. It looks like I will see a hefty speed increase on all my cards (280x/290x).

While I am holding 200 PTS, I will not be mining PTS any more until I can at least pay my energy bill from it.

I've been mining on YPool for most of the week since Be^5r is having trouble finding blocks. I only switch to it when YPool is down.

I finally got it all working and overclocked. I'm getting 4150cpm with these settings on stock volts. This set of script will overclock your 290/or 290x.

The first line is the core clock, memory clock, powerlevel, and powertune I believe. The max was 2 on the last number. I tried that but a 1 worked better for me so I stuck with that. If I'm doing something that will blow up my card, someone let me know. Temps are under 50c on core all the time and the VRM sinks are barely warm to the touch. When I was on Windows my VRM's were under 50c on VRM1 and under 40 on VRM2, so I should be good.

Here's my OC config if someone wants to try it on theirs:

aticonfig --adapter=1 --od-setclocks=1110,1415,150,1

aticonfig --adapter=1 --od-commitclocks
aticonfig --adapter=1 --od-gettemperature
aticonfig --adapter=1 --od-getclocks

this is for Linux of course.

when i copy paste this: aticonfig --adapter=1 --od-setclocks=1110,1415,150,1   and i am getting:
ERROR - Set clocks failed for Adapter 1 - AMD Radeon R9 290 Series
Please check that input values were valid

this command is only working for primary adapter I think, because I'm getting the same error for second card. Can anyone give a trick for it?

Hate to break the news to you folks but the aticonfig/amdconfig does NOT work for more than one
adapter. Sure there is the --adapter=x or --adapter=all but it only ever works for the default card.
Must be a bug in the software and perhaps next ATI Catalyst will fix it.

Below is a copy of the current clocks I'm running.

aticonfig --adapter=0 --od-setclocks=1110,1220
aticonfig --adapter=1 --od-setclocks=1110,1220
aticonfig --adapter=2 --od-setclocks=1110,1220

Guys, what is the kind of CPM to expect on a 280X?

I get around 3373 c/m at stock 1000/1500 and 3500 c/m at 1050/1500.

3500 c/m at which algorithm you run? -1, -2, or -3? My card only has 3200 cpm at -2.

« on: February 23, 2014, 07:24:54 pm »
hi,

the pool had to struggle with some higher workload during the last days. i'll change the share difficulty to reduce the workload, thus the overall shares/minute will decrease (in total for everyone). payouts & blocks are not affected by this.

i hope this will also reduce the rejection problem.

i'll report back once the difficulty is changed. and once it has been changed: feel free to report your observation.

Although reject rate is very high, you wouldn't obtain better results on ypool. Everybody gets the same share of a block so you are not loosing 10% as in effect everybody is affected so everyone's share size remains the same with or without loss.

@wsnnwa:
regarding your disconnect problem: what hardware are you using?

Everything is good now.

@NaN - Have you seen the following on the Ypool version?

Share found! (Blockheight: 56471)
Invalid share
Reason: Share data time overflow

^ I get this for every share I find on my windows 7 machine running 2x R9 280X, this isn't seen on any of my Linux rigs. Your windows Beeeeer version works properly though. Maybe a pool issue?

Is just me or is there something weird going on with the server? I keep getting disconnects on all my miners with 6 different rigs....Or it might be my internet taking a crap.

It seems like the pool is having issues...

Edit1:

block  reward  pays   sh/min  pool sh/m

Edit2:
 Now its down...

Edit3:
It came back!! LOL

@lir111: What are your command line options?

Ouch meaning what? Sucked he had to have someone else fix it? Or that 14.1 drivers suck?
No, "ouch" because AMD f***ed it up. I hoped that those times were over... That is not the only problem with the Catalyst drivers (e.g. the 290(X) performance inconsistency in Windows and Linux)

I so hope the Windows issue is resolved for the 290x's.  Not sure how long I can stomach Linux's lack of undervolting/clocking tools for these cards.  I can't even see what voltage my cards are running at... :(

Has anyone tried mining with the 14.1 drivers on windows with the 290x's?

I've been reluctant to try the 14.1 drivers because of the significant performance impacts seen with scrypt miners.  I know my performance on the ASUS R9-290XOC is crap (550KH/s) compared to where it should be.

In clpts I'm getting around 3250c/m with the R9-290X under Windows 8.1 and the 13.x AMD drivers.

How much better is it under Linux?

~4000cpm stock and ~4500 cpm with OC.

Wow! R9-290x 4500cpm...I'm Jealous.

Can you share your OC settings?

1150 core and 1250 memory are my latest clock. No volt changes.

The monster below recently started mining on the pool, this guy has to have over 1mill c/m.

"Pra7CmiuQKR1wnTS4Ps8KfG4bpA1kzse4B": 3.6886357952192643

http://mypts.eu.org/?a=Pra7CmiuQKR1wnTS4Ps8KfG4bpA1kzse4B

yes this is clearly not an individual person who has been doing this for long... looking at the track record from the website they clearly have an explosion in computing power they did not have before... I'm wondering if this is one of those botnets that people talk about hijacking pools with their stolen computing power...

assuming it was GPU power, it does come out to over 1 million cpm, and the dollar in hardware required would be close to a quarter million dollars... now if its using CPU power that number well more than doubles in cost... something about it just absolutely stinks...

in a one hour period on the 21st the computing power jumps almost 15x what it was using before... in just an 8 hour period they made almost $1000 in coins... something is fishy...

It wouldn't take $250k to reach 1mill cpm. I estimated it at ~$150k. But his activity is very suspicious, its like it took him a day or so to set up his rigs with the correct configs and then boom just throw them all at the pool at once.
