General Discussion / Why Need BSIP For Everything?
« on: December 30, 2018, 04:54:23 am »
It seems like every time the proxies want witnesses to make a change, they write a BSIP for the witnesses to make the change.

The witnesses are already voted in and have the ability to change the feed/mssr however they like, if proxies do not like what a witness is doing, they can just vote him out.

BSIP stands for BitShares Improvement Proposal and changing parameters is not an improvement/feature, it is simply a tuning of numbers.

In fact, it is much better if witnesses decide parameters on their own (AND on their own opinion), this way we are more robust to decisions that could be destructive to Bitshares because some witnesses will disagree and tune their parameters accordingly

Please share your thoughts.

Your current policy makes it look like you don't want margin call to be eaten (since you decreased MSSR to 105%), instead you want to prevent a black swan on bitCNY, correct?

Do any of the Proxies have plans to make the margin call eaten?

Please give your honest opinions on which is your desired outcome

General Discussion / Question To All Active Witnesses #2
« on: December 28, 2018, 05:45:52 pm »
@Digital Lucifer, the question was towards individual witnesses and not regarding the BSIP. I'm asking each individual witness what they intend to do, since their feeds are determined by themselves

all active witnesses please respond, are you guys going to allow the margin call wall on BTS/CNY to be eaten or will you keep not letting it be eaten?

BSIP41 was implemented which effectively changes nothing, the feed decreased but lower MSSR causes the call price to effectively be around the same price.

Please answer:

1) Yes, I want the wall to be eaten

2) No, I don't want the wall to be eaten

3 situations could have occurred:

1) Somebody bought 15M BTS from margin wall

2) CNY shorters recollateralized (unlikely)

3) Feed price increased which increased which caused MCRs to increase (not possible feed is the exact same price today)

Anybody know what happen?

Yesterday call price = 0.2392, call amount = 51.2m BTS

General Discussion / New Website Is Not Authentic
« on: December 28, 2018, 02:47:56 pm »
I don't think the new website fits Bitshares' well, Bitshares is a decentralized exchange not a blockchain platform. Also, the website looks like every other ICO website

Other community members, please share your thoughts on this subject.

Currently MSSR changed to 105% instead of 110%, this tells me you don't want it to be eaten?

If you decrease feed, it means you want it to be eaten.

Please answer:

1) Yes, I want the wall to be eaten

2) No, I don't want the wall to be eaten

General Discussion / On The Importance of Bit.GOLD
« on: September 26, 2018, 12:25:43 pm »
Fiat currencies are constantly depreciating, most prominent being CNY or USD on this exchange. Gold has been used as a store of value for hundreds+ years. It is almost always better to store your fiat in gold than fiat itself, since gold has shown that it doesn't lose its purchasing power.

Famous quote: "Gold will store its value, and you'll always be able to buy more food with your gold."

We need to boost the Bit.GOLD market volume and liquidity, it actually almost never makes sense to store in fiat bitassets (unless gold is in a massive bubble). This is very important for traders who need liquidity in a bear market.

Thoughts?

General Discussion / How Is This Possible?
« on: May 04, 2018, 04:30:14 am »

The margin call price is lower than the highest bid, shouldn't it get filled automatically?
