General Discussion / Re: Sold all of my Bitshares
« on: March 04, 2015, 10:18:56 pm »
I am still investing, just not in bitshares, at least not now.

Yes, these things do take time and I do have patience. I waited over a year. They also cannot move too slowly because innovation happens fast in the tech world. Bitshares is going too slow, has changed direction too many times, and has STILL not figured out the right direction.

Teenage cheese is aged cheese, it is mature, that is the point of name.

General Discussion / Sold all of my Bitshares
« on: March 04, 2015, 08:09:56 pm »
Hi everyone. I have lost hope in bitshares due to the extended failure of the community to come out with a good product. Repeatedly, I have seen a poor understanding of what makes a good business and a good product.

To save bitshares I think you need to focus on and come out with one, key, killer feature that will increase adoption and open the door to all the other features later. The feature I think you should focus on is making a true decentralized exchange, as I have said before. By true decentralized I mean an exchange you can send real bitcoins to (and other popular cryptos) and then immediately exchange them for other coins. No gateways, no bridges, at least not from the point of view of the user. Just directly to the client.

I saw a little bit of talk about this earlier and it got me excited that at least others are thinking the same thing. Devs, I hope you do this or something like this and I hope you do it soon or else someone else will. Yes, I know it's complicated to implement, but it is what is needed and bitshares is in the perfect position to bring it to the world because you are already on that track. I'll be watching. Good luck.

Yes, that was too negative, you are right. Still I wish that could be a feature. I know it's very complicated.

Unfortunately I bet this guy is looking to trade other cryptos which bitshares cannot do

Interesting, bitCNY's market cap has been steadily on the rise while bitUSD has been dropping. What do you think the reasons for this are?

I can guess:
1. The 1:1 bitCNY to CNY exchange rate
2. Better marketing in China (from what I hear)
3. More demand to have a secure digital currency in China due to the economic conditions and financial laws there.

Any other reasons? Any ways we can get this going for bitUSD

I think so. I proposed exactly that yesterday. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=14101.0

I think you may be right. It's hard to keep track of things going on.

This brings back a point I've made that we really need to put systems in place to help get things done. It's too ad hoc/informal right now. It's difficult for someone to know what is wanted and how they may be able to provide services without closely following the forum.

Also I would expect other bitassets could and should be made available through the same service.

I would vote for a 100% delegate or maybe even two upon delivery of a functional service that I can use here in the U.S. They would continue to get paid to improve the service after launch and eventually would be either able to make enough profit where they would not need a delegate, or and probably better, be able to not charge any fees to use the service because they would be paid as a bitshares delegate. That is the beauty of bitshares, no one else can offer a free gateway, but WE CAN. It's our choice to do so in order to promote bitshares.

Let's do it. Post plus five if you want it.

General Discussion / Fiat to bitUSD Gateways?
« on: February 09, 2015, 03:06:50 am »
Hi,

I've read about several potential fiat to bitUSD gateways over the past months and was wondering what their status is. Are any still being worked on? Any expected dates?

I assume Coinbase wouldn't want to integrate bitUSD until we (the client and the whole system of bitshares) are more stable because they are such a legit company. Any other's we could partner with? Any independent gateway projects of our own going on?

Please note I am specifically asking about FIAT directly to bitUSD with no intermediate steps. Thanks.

Suggestion: Make all of the tabs present the information for the active coins more at the the top.

With the current format, as I flip through the tabs I get the impression that everything is broken because of all the 0 Ghz hashrates and "invalid shares." This may turn off people who go there to check it out. You want the first thing they see to be signs of a healthy pool that is functioning correctly.

Also, great job in general, I think this is great.

General Discussion / Re: DAC management tools
« on: February 08, 2015, 06:22:52 am »
I'll take the opportunity of teenagecheese's post Overall Plan and Schedule to broaden and deepen the topic one notch further: BitShares has the ambition of providing a turn-key solution to build fully functioning decentralized autonomous corporations, but the BitShares DAC itself is pretty far from the level of quality and structure an actual corporation should have. Every corporation has got some elementary tools to manage calandar, progress, objectives, organizational tree, meetings and storage of key information such as meeting minutes etc.

Given it's ambitions, shouldn't BitShares start building such intra-net like features in the client? There was once a project named Keyhotee that could have been the right place to start that intra-net like management layer. What happened to that project? Someone suggested using RetroShare as a base to revive this project. Where are the excited conversations about that?

Are you, BitShares shareholders, happy to know that people are getting actively paid by share dilution, but there is currently no structure in place to provide transparency and accountability?

I fully concur to teenagecheese's feeling in the other thread. A few weeks ago I decided to disvest some of my investments and take a stake in BitShares. After following the DAC closely for a few weeks, my overal feeling is that although the technology has a huge potential, there is no mechanism in place to ensure that things are being managed properly. It really feels like I invested in a startup run by some bunch of bright young grads with a great idea but no management skills and no experience of how to manage a corporation. I'll give it some time, but if I still feel in a few quarters that I have no idea what my money is being used for and there is no visible resources put in improving transarency an management, I will probably just move my money somewhere else and wait for BitShares to put their act together and live up to its ambition of being an actual corporation.

Well said. I agree with every point. I especially like the analogy to a real corporation, which we are not acting like. Whether it be in the client or elsewhere, I believe it is critical that this be put in place, and that it can be done while maintaining the cooperative and decentralized nature of bitshares.

General Discussion / Re: Management/Implementation Delegate Proposal

Thank you. You understand. And I totally agree, it doesn't have to be another delegate. Just needs to be something. I should have come at this from another angle. The title should be: Help me figure out a way to improve bitshares, or something.

Everyone, many of your answers to me are phrased as if I do not understand and am being ridiculous. You are acting as if this system is working perfectly and everything is getting done great. It is not doing that well though, barely anyone votes and many things are not getting done. I want to improve this mechanism.

I know it's supposed to be a decentralized system where bad delegates are voted out. I want it to be decentralized. Bitshares is a great basic concept, that is why I am here.

Stop taking my use of the word "management" so literally. Start assuming everything I suggest is supposed to fit within the decentralized framework of bitshares. We will make a lot more progress that way. If I have to literally type out everything I think in specific detail to make my point it would take too long. Work with me here, stop assuming all the negative possible intentions of my suggestions and instead assume the positive.

I am trying to find a find a way to improve bitshares. Help me.
