Hello and thank you for the feedback!

Some questions:

1. How do I "fund" my account and register it?
2. How/Why/When do I use the Import Wallet feature under Advanced?

1. Right now, you have to go to the dry run thread (https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=5523.0) and request funds (XTS) from someone already on the network. You then use a very small amount of funds in order to register. This method of registration is temporary, and will be replaced with a free registration for new users in the future. Users will need an address to send these funds to, so don't forget to include your Account Key in the post (don't worry, this is NOT a private key!)

2. From what I understand, you will use the Import Wallet feature to import PTS wallets, and also to import PTS and BTC wallets which have donated to AGS and will receive a stake in future DACs (BitShares X, Music, Lotto, DNS, etc). But as you pointed this out, the feature is currently unfinished

Thanks!

Got wallet running no problem.  Closed wallet and copied my protoshares wallet.dat file to lottoshares directory, restarted lottoshares wallet and have a current balance of 0.00 LTS, some unconformed LTS and some immmature LTS !!!

Good job. Glad to see stuff work as planned.

Can someone enlighten me a bit on what happens to the unconfirmed and immature balances from here?

Got the windows wallet working no problem.  Looks good, as others have mentioned, stands out compared to standard clone wallets.

Also as reported by others, it produces an error when you quit via menu (File, Quit) or clicking window x.

Some questions:

1. How do I "fund" my account and register it?
2. How/Why/When do I use the Import Wallet feature under Advanced?

Also, I assume that import wallet path will have a file selection dialog button at some point so people don't have to type the path.

Glad to see something working.  :D

Slightly off topic but I never understood how it prevents domain squatting.  If there is an auction and only the squatter is there, then they receive the domain, no ?  Are people able to outbid for the domain later on ?

We should say "mitigate" instead of "prevent."

...

or just "minimize". ;)

DAC PLAY / Re: Lotto Ticket
« on: June 30, 2014, 02:03:36 pm »
Speaking of lottery ticket, are you planning to have it physically(over the counter) or virtually (web-based generated ticket). Because in both ways, you can still have a value added content that comes with every ticket.

Eh.. neither, ticket are purchased inside the DAC with your lotto shares, of course there will be desktop wallet or web wallets where you can purchase.

Is there a place or document that explains the whole process or different use cases or points of view? e.g. from PTS/AGS shareholder and/or lotto player roles. I am a PTS shareholder and would like to better  understand it all so I can help  support it.

I feel a bit bad about not commenting on your plans and work HackFisher, which might make you feel like you're talking in the void. Thing is I really find your project one of the most promising and interesting DACs, honest gambling is a real big thing I think, but I'm not a gambling man and have no opinions to give from that perspective. I do have a decent grasp of the basics in probability math and statistics, but alas that is also the reason I'm not a gambling man and don't really believe in luck.

So don't let the lack of comments discourage you, there is support for your efforts, just not much in way of opinions.

LottoShares / Re: Check your expected LottoShares balance for AGS
« on: June 30, 2014, 12:37:38 pm »
Some clarification please...

If you own PTS when snapshot was made for lotto, that means you will have shares in lotto?  If so, how does one check those shares?

1. Yes.

2. You can start LottoShares client with your ProtoShares wallet.dat in place in the LottoShares directory, and it should import your balances - and it will tell you which random block they mature on.

This random block will change when LottoShares is launched.

If you have a large balance, tranches of 10,000 will mature at different random times, so that they don't all mature on the same block.

Also, you can view balanced to be included here -

https://github.com/FreeTrade/lottoshares/tree/master/release

Okay, thanks. Looks good.  Glad to support this effort.

General Discussion / Re: When will BitsharesX be released?
« on: June 06, 2014, 01:40:58 pm »

I got what the T , in XT, stands for.
What the X stands for ? DPOS?

The connection to the X family is that it is the proto-DAC (snapshot target) for all the BTS X chains.
So I suppose "PTS X" would have been an appropriate name as well. Sorry if it's misleading.

No, it turns out BTS XT is actually PTS X; The only connection to bank and  ‘eXchange’, I can think off, is that it gives unique possibility for those that did not invest before 02.28 to acquire BTS X for far less money at far later date. ...

Can someone please explain the last bolded and underlined part above?  How do those who didn't invest before 2.28 get to acquire BTS X?

Within one month,I guess.

“There are two things we should always be 1. raw and 2. ready. When you are raw, you are always ready and when you are ready you usually realize that you are raw. Waiting for perfection is not an answer, one cannot say "I will be ready when I am perfect" because then you will never be ready, rather one must say "I am raw and I am ready just like this right now, how and who I am.”

Interesting quote.  Reminds me of the saying "Don't let PERFECT be the enemy of GOOD."

General Discussion / Re: Masterplan
« on: June 03, 2014, 11:07:05 am »
A masterplan would let localized efforts coordinate around known, anticipated events. Without anticipation there can be no unified action. Anticipations without actions are empty, but actions without anticipations are blind.

The idea I propose is to get a masterplan where all events are given approximate timings and are explained in clear terms (non-technical) such that the wider impact of that event is both predictable and understandable for all corners of the Bitshares Ecosystem as well as to any outsider.

Each member (of I3) and contributor to Bitshares should contribute their 2-3 month agendas to a giant masterplan. This would increase investor confidence, organize the community around milestones, sharpen promotional efforts, and allow us to predicts complex outcomes before they happen.

Perhaps we can use the pads for this? It does not have to be anything fancy.

I  have used Quad charts a lot  for this.

It takes some time to agree on a format but once you do it's pretty easy to regularly update them.  Each "team" would have one slide to provide  regular updates.

Well, this round-robin "Board of Directors" does sound better than a single "Trustee"/"Timekeeper", but the move away from some sort of PoS implementation leaves me much less comfortable with BitShares.  I have refined some of the ideas that I've come up with and posted on this board earlie

Define PoS... I have kept the spirit of PoS and added a simple delegation... it is like mining pools without the barriers to entry or the risk of trusting your coins to someone else.

I reviewed the rest of your proposal and find it very interesting but still suspect that is suffers one of the biggest problems to overcome: it is too complex to analyze all potential attacks.    It also suffers from the fact that it is more costly (bandwidth, blockchain size) due to the overhead of proof-of-connection and these costs make it less competitive.

I think the key is to remove the randomness from the equation and increase the size of the board of directors until you are sure it is decentralized enough.    One though on increasing the size of the BOD is to have every BOD member post collateral equal to the earnings from 100 blocks.  If they fail to produce a block on schedule or voluntarily resign with enough notice then they lose 100 blocks worth of pay.   With this setup you could increase the size of the BOD to a minimum 1% of the votes.    You also cause anyone running for a BOD position to promise better than 99% uptime or they will lose money.   If you do this though then the round-robin technique would have to be adjusted to be proportional to the number of votes you have.   I may have to make it proportional anyway so that shareholders are fairly represented... but perhaps by not making it proportional shareholders will be encouraged to diversify who they support least they reduce their influence.

...I believe in you and your ability to brain-muscle your way through the various problems with PoS.  I think you're one of the few people in the world who could get it right.  ...

I agree with this!

From what I can understand, the overall idea is a good compromise significally improving the speed/usability of the application.

What separates bitshares DACs from other alt coins is that bitshares DACs are designed to be profitable.  If using a metronode system means that transaction speed goes from 5 minutes to under 30 seconds, it becomes more attractive to traders.  Faster transactions mean more transactions, and more transactions mean more dividends from fees.

Decentralization is for immunity from corruption by seduction or coercion.
We want the Invictus movement and its products to be decentralized for this primary reason.

But centralization in engineering design and management - anything that requires optimization of a system or process - is necessary to achieve that optimality.   One person or small team has to get it all inside their heads and then make careful tradeoffs.

...

Ah, you nailed it!!!  (IMHO)  I feel better now.  Maybe time to buy some more PTS.  :)
