Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Worker Proposal] Chronos Crypto videos
« on: September 07, 2016, 04:48:10 am »
You'll have my vote, but no idea what the voting landscape is now. A bunch of votes moved from exchanges to wallets because of the Peerplays sharedrop, but no idea if those holders will be voting or not.

Was this ever resolved? Almost just got locked out of my account due to this issues on Edge.
Don't use Edge. It's not supported.

Openledger / Re: Widthrawl of DODGE through Blocktrades never happened.
« on: August 07, 2016, 04:18:42 pm »
I wonder what happened to some my BTC that I was looking widtrhaw through blocktrades, but I never got the BTC on teh other side, I wonder what are my recourse to verify the dtrade, and check the txid from blocktrade. Regards.

It wasn't a large ammount, only 10 bts (0.04 USD), just trying to understand how the system work.
Hi jza,

The problem is that 10 bts is too small to cover the BTC transaction cost, so our system can't send BTC for inputs this small. In general, when sending "test" amounts, I recommend always using amounts of 0.25 USD equivalent or more.

But still MIST is showing nothing received...
Your Myst wallet is not in sync, so you won't see any new transactions.

Note at the top of your screen image that it shows 0 peers. Now it could be argued that this information could be displayed more clearly (or at least it's significance to your wallet's functionality)...

Please abandon these bad habits:
- moving things around (like above problem with wallet.bitshares.org URL, why not use HTTP 302 to redirect queries?)
- serving Err 404 not found pages (Recently I deleted whole "bitshares bookmark" section from my browser because half of them were 404)
- changing product names (Protoshares PTS Bitshares BitsharesPTS. Man what a maze. I only hope BitShares is final!)
I'm not sure why the URL was changed, but I agree it's going to be confusing to anyone who wasn't around when the change took place.

The whole ProtoShares PTS BitShares thing is a little more explainable, however. Protoshares was changed to PTS because of trademark issues. Protoshares/PTS was not and was never intended to be BitShares. Protoshares was created as a way to mine for a stake in BitShares BEFORE the BitShares software was written. Protoshares was a clone of the bitcoin client, so it could be released faster than the BitShares code could be developed.

General Discussion / Updates to BitShares withdrawal functionality
« on: August 03, 2016, 06:46:04 pm »
https://steemit.com/bitshares/@blocktrades/updates-to-bitshares-withdrawal-functionality-new-release-of-bitshares-gui-wallet

BlockTrades has made some improvements to the withdrawal/deposit functionality for the BitShares GUI wallet (several specifically for Steem users):

The user's browser now keeps a local cache of previous withdrawal addresses for each withdrawal wallet type to make it easier to make repeated withdrawals to the same destination. The withdrawal address defaults to the last withdrawal address used for that withdrawal wallet type and a drop-down can be used to select from previously used withdrawal addresses.

The wallet GUI directly queries for supported coin types from the OpenLedger API server, which enables addition of new coin types without requiring new updates to the wallet GUI code. This will make it easier and quicker for OpenLedger to add new coins to their gateway.

Memos can be added when withdrawing to a wallet type that supports memos (e.g. graphene-based chains such as MUSE and STEEM). This is particularly useful when you want to send Steem, Steem Dollars, or Muse from your BitShares wallet directly to an exchange that supports these coin types, because they require a memo to be included to credit a deposit properly. To encrypt the memo on a Steem withdrawal, place a # symbol in front of the memo.

It's also possible to add a memo when depositing from a graphene-based chain. For example, to receive a memo with your OPEN.STEEM, send from your Steem wallet with a memo like “open.steem:my_bitshares_account_name:my_memo_text”.
If you withdraw using the memo method to a Steem wallet, you can include an encrypted memo as follows: “steem:my_steem_account_name:#my_memo_text”.

The GUI will fall back to a backup server for withdrawals/deposit API calls if the primary server is not reachable.

Coin names are displayed alphabetically in the deposit/withdrawal drop-down lists.

The changes are live now on OpenLedger, although you made need to press F5 to refresh your browser in order to see them:

someone comes here asking a question and what he gets are 2 pages of attacks. for fucks sake, I've never felt so embarrassed for this community, and I'm here for a long time.

these are the facts:

* Anyone who invested in BTS is free to call themselves whatever they like. (remember CEO's of Bitcoin?) - I leave it up to you to give that value or not.
* CNX = Cryptonomex = they worked for BitShares for some time, but are in no way "owners" or something. It's a blockchain company to my knowledge
* BMI 18.5 to 24.9 is Normal weight

I strongly recommend this clown fiesta to end right now and start to communicate without personal attacks or this thread will be closed.

I do find Michael claiming to be a "founder" of BitShares a bit of a stretch to say the very least, however. Obviously Stan, Michael, and I have some differences of opinion on exactly what that term means. I was one of the earliest employees at Invictus, yet I don't consider myself a founder. Here's the definition I generally agree with: "The person who creates an organization or a company is known as the founder." To my knowledge, there are exactly two founders for BitShares: Dan Larimer and Charles Hoskinson.

Technical Support / Re: Bitshares API function list
« on: August 02, 2016, 07:34:31 pm »
Where can I find a function list for the Bitshares platform?  I am trying to use Xeroc's python library and that does a great job managing connection and RPC calls but it assumes you already know the function calls and their parameters.  Some of the examples I've found are outdated with functions that do not exist anymore.  Others have some functions, but with out a complete list of available function calls, I can't fully see how much I can do.

Thanks
The only complete documentation for the API calls is the github code. To find them all, grep for FC_API in the code.
Repo is here: https://github.com/cryptonomex/graphene

Technical Support / Re: Can't trade even though I have assets
« on: July 24, 2016, 06:34:19 pm »
It says the same thing.. I've used other assets to pay fees in the past, how come I can't now?
You can use other assets, but you have to pick what asset you want to pay with ahead of time, and there has to be BTS in the fee pool for that asset. Personally, I think it's generally better (cheaper) to keep some BTS in your account to pay for fees.

I was trying to trade some OL assets and I ended up getting this error message:

itr->get_balance() >= -delta: Insufficient Balance: ted-jones's balance of 0.00548 BTS is less than required 0.14676 BTS

I thought you could use other assets for fees? If I'm wrong here do I try to buy more bts or will my lack of a balance be a problem buying more..? I really don't want to have to buy a few cents worth from outside the DEX. Anyway, thanks!

I'd recommend just buying a couple hundred BTS from one of the markets like:

https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/OPEN.BTC_BTS
https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/OPEN.STEEM_BTS

You can also buy BTS with BTC via the BlockTrades bridge: https://blocktrades.us

I've been contacted by a guy that's unable to get a forum account:

"I get no activation email from "https://bitsharestalk.org"
So I cant discuss there.
Twice I've tried registering."

Anyone have an idea what might be the problem?

General Discussion / Re: [STEEM] SteemUSD withdrawal options?
« on: July 23, 2016, 06:13:18 pm »
@dannotestein how about going from Bitcoin directly to SteemUSD?

Was this supported in the past? Is it coming back?

At the moment The only options are to STEEM and STEEM POWER.
We haven't supported it in the past, but I added it just now, based on your request.

For anyone who doesn't want to hassle with the DAO -> ETH conversion, I've placed an order to buy DAO for ETH here (I'm effectively charging a 1% fee versus doing the conversion yourself): https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/market/OPEN.DAO_OPEN.ETH
