General Discussion / Re: Who can tell me,Why do prices collapsed

btsx prices collapsed
pts prices collapsed
dns prices collapsed
why?

Market manipulators (those that pump and dump for profit) constantly look for reasons that the public/suckers will buy into a pump or sell into a dump. My guess is the toing, throwing and u turns we have seen recently makes a perfect storm for creating a panic dump. When BTS is released with we hope some marketing hype the manipulators will be given power to pump the price.

So, they accelerate the dump by selling into it. Then buy at a low price. Then when its time for the pump accelerate that too by buying into it a selling at a high price.

Its been the same with all coins and the more liquidity you have them more vulnerable you are to attack. For long term holders i dont think it make a lot of difference but obviously we need more reasons for manipulators to pump and less for them to dump :-)

DevShares / Re: new blockchain "DevShares"
« on: October 27, 2014, 07:18:34 pm »
DevShares will be used to test new and experimental features and may be unreliable or buggy.  It cannot guarantee stable or production level features, nor is it supposed to.  So if someone can make a convincing argument about how or why this should compete with BTS rather than be a testbed for it, I've got a bridge to sell you.  Will deliver internationally.....

Im good for bridges thanks. You haven't addressed any of the questions i ask. BM says DVS's will have monetary value if it has monetary value and the assumptions in my OP are correct then this deserves an answer. BM any chance you could clarify things?

Yeah I was wondering about this.  It's going to be worth any BTS holders to own a small 'sample' of devshares just to be in the know about what's in the pipeline.  There does appear to be a risk of it generating a conflict of interest having just consolidated I3 to work on 1 chain.  What happens if speculators start buying devshares resulting in it being well funded enough to compete?  Should there be some built in hyperinflation to prevent this?

drltc's original proposal is here: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=9959.msg129767#msg129767

Thanks for the link, I have had a read through but it doesn't answer my questions. Can one of the developers comment? Its quite important because I and others may want to buy more PTS before the 5th November snapshot.

DevShares / new blockchain "DevShares"
« on: October 27, 2014, 03:12:40 pm »
This is a quote from BM's press release draft.

"A new blockchain "DevShares" will be used for testing the upgrade of BTS and future hard forks as well as experimental features and economic experiments.   This blockchain will be a 40/40/20 snapshot AGS/PTS/X taken on November 5th.    DevShares will not be considered a "safe store of value" but non-the-less will have value for those wishing to test their smart contracts or BTS integration on a low-value chain.   Details on DevShares will be provided over the coming month."

I am trying to decide on the relative value of this chain, and could do with some clarification.
Will it will include all fully developed and tested features of the BTS blockchain? If it does then while it wont be a safe store of value when using your DVS (devshares?) on works in progress it will be safe on tested features like bitusd?

Would there be anything in place to stop it competing with BTS other than increased risk?

If you are going to let it have real world monetary value then you must be saying it will be around permanently as the DVS wont get value if they are going to expire. Is my assumption correct?

If the above is correct then once BTS is fully developed (i know some new things will always be added but 95% developed) Then we will have two chains with no reason for them to have different value.

General Discussion / Re: When are we going to see an "on-ramp" from fiat
« on: October 26, 2014, 07:05:40 am »
I would think that the announcement won't come until it's finalized. No point in hyping up a community that would love the hype and be devastated if it falls through.
we have already been hyped. I agree no announcement until something is finalized.

Maybe consider how a transaction fee system for forum posts could be utilised to improve the quality of the discussion? e.g.:
- a flat cost per length of post, covering system cost, but also encouraging stakeholders to make pertinent points where they feel this genuinely adds value to discussion
- an ability to like posts, and absorb some transaction cost from the poster, encouraging lower cost for more helpful posts

Seems to me that the biggest weakness of DPOS is voter turnout. Im sure we will get a little more with the current proposal and again some more with a bug free and trusted client but with all the strength of DPOS it would be nice to put a nail in this one weakness and get some really high turnout.

I notice people are really engaged in the forum and the poles seem to greatly reflect opinion. Hence my question. I can see lots of merits for putting this forum on the client. I haven't loaded the client for weeks yet i log onto the forum two or three times a day. I'm sure i am not the only one. So, we would get increased traffic and targeted traffic to the client. Traffic that would read the forum vote on poles (which could be incorporated into delegate voting to increase participation). Also If we the community were loading up the client as often at they log on to the forum then they would be more likely to engage in the features, thus creating more transaction fees.

The only downside i see is that it would be a barrier to entry for newbies, however, this too could be turned to a positive.  We keep an online forum to attract newbies but, firstly they wont see the kind of potentially panicking discussions we have from time to time  :). Also they will be incentivised to download the client and use it regularly if the want to engage further.

Why is it I3 that has to do all the work?
With the SuperDAC you can setup a business plan, get some fundings and fund developers to build this thing up ..

just DO IT and don't wait for others to have the time first ..

+5% I wish i had the time, skills.

General Discussion / Re: I3 need to hire a CEO
« on: October 24, 2014, 08:34:52 am »
I3 needs to be disbanded and everyone on the BitShares team (including devs, marketing, partners, etc) need to signup as delegates so they get paid and we can vote on performance.

Has anyone stated whether marketing/development funds will be used to vote for I3 delegates (or others)?

I think once the initial marketing push is done, and the entire team is integrated as delegates then the funds will be burned to return them to shareholders who are currently the rightful owners of those funds.

I3 delegates will not have to worry about votes, there is zero economic incentive for a stakeholder to not have them employed.

Development shares will be burned? Is this your opinion or has it been discussed/proposed somewhere? Point me in the right direction i would like to join that thread.
