BitShares PTS / Re: Guide to claiming Protoshare investment in new DACs
« on: December 25, 2013, 12:33:51 am »
Gigamike,

Yes, in this case the MMC2 wallet is the new DAC wallet, and these instructions will work for it as well as any other DACs that start without the auto import functionality and use basically the standard wallet system.

thanks Troglodactyl,

i hope MMC2 wallet/qt has a mac version

Thanks again,

Mike

1.  Open your Protoshares wallet and open the debug window from the help menu.

2.  Switch from the information tab of the debug window to the console tab.

3.  Type:
     walletpassphrase YourPasswordHere 600

4. Type:
     dumpprivkey YourPTSAddress

5. Note the string of characters output after the last command.  This is your wallet key.  Guard it with your life.

6. Open the new DAC wallet and go to the console tab of the debug window as you did with the PTS wallet.

7. If your new DAC wallet is already locked, type:
     walletpassphrase YourPasswordHere 600

8. Copy your PTS wallet key from the PTS wallet window, and in the new DAC console, type:
     importprivkey YourPTSWalletKeyHere

9. Done.  If your new balance does not show up immediately, you can close and restart the new DAC wallet to rescan and find your balance.

where we can download DAC wallet ? is that the MMC2 wallet?

Thanks,

Mike

Guys,

additional question. PTS to MMC is 10PTS:1MMC ?

Currently BTER offers MMC http://bter.com/trade/mmc_btc 1MMC:0.001BTC

But if you check the average range of PTS is 1PTS:0.020BTC

:( or am i missing something. I invested a lot on PTS :(

Thanks,

Mike

Since IDs are non-transferrable, how will I end up with a unique private key that ties to my name? Will I3 distribute keypair generation code between christmas and new years, and then we have to send the public key to I3 to include in the genesis block?

good question. How it will be ???

BitShares PTS / Re: [ANN] ptsweb.beeeeer.org - Protoshares mining sub-pool
« on: December 14, 2013, 03:33:28 am »
This pool needs some more mining support!  I've been mining on here for more than a month, it is a little curious why not as many people mine here as other sites.

  • Very reliable, hasn't gone down in a month
  • ypool got 14 out of the last 24 blocks, thats 58%!  This is risky for protoshares network, because if ypool get's hacked, a 51% attack can bring down the network?
  • the miner is as fast as any others (correct me if I'm wrong), which means you make at least the same on beeeer as anywhere else.
  • lower fees, ypool has 6% fee, beeer 3%
  • smaller automatic payout threshold, ypool's minimum is 1 PTS, beeeer's is 0.2, better for small miners.
  • Better, more advanced user interface!  ;)

How many prs did you mine in 1 month. Does it profitable or ROI is positive?...ive been playing around this one using digitalocean, dedicated server..still no profit...i think its much better to buy on exchange rather than mining...i dont want to pull down this thread but for the moment with the current price of pts

@zvs, @skaffen, @kfuzion

many thanks for your reply, ok then seems still no profit for

Dual Quad Core Server Xeon E5620 2.4GHz
16GB RAM
500GB Storage
10TB Bandwidth
that is 450$ month :(

thanks thanks,

Mike

Guys,

anyone tried to mine using beeeer.org pool using this specs
Dual Quad Core Server Xeon E5620 2.4GHz
16GB RAM
500GB Storage
10TB Bandwidth

average PTS mine per day with the said specs?

TIA,

Mike

I've found it not to be profitable at all.

The first problem I found was that in ratio, the 4CPU was farming more PTS then the 8CPU.
This is because the CPU's of the VMs arent used to 100% but peak at max 65%.
I don't know if DigitalCloud has limited the CPU useage.

In the guide is not noted that you can also setup the memory useage, which led me to the 2nd problem.
Because of the servers are located in different parts (New York, Amsterdam) and are being hosted on different servers, I highly recommend to test the different memory options.
I.e. for AMS1 I found that the 512MB option was working best while on AMS2 the 1024MB option was best.

With the US droplet test I didnt come far as the server could not connect to the debian server for the apt-get update command.

Anyways, after a total using of 20$ (a google search found me a 10$ vouche when I made the 10$ deposit), I've farmed a little less then 0.4PTS, which would give ~0.00950BTC, which is $8,30USD (trading/transaction fee's not included).

During the droplet run, I also had my own computer doing some farming in the meantime, with a avarage of 1.1 sh/m. These shares are included in the droplet test, so I was cheating in the droplets favor too.

Sadly same experience i have. Even DO droplets is not design for mining, i think in the future they may change there policy on mining as DO droplets is built for other reason and not mining.

But on the good side a feel and experience on how to mine as you can setup several computers (droplets)

Hi,

First of all thanks for the guide :)

Newbie, question, how many workers do you set for 8GB/4CPU on DigitalOcean? 15 workers/instance i.e. ./ptsminer Phxxxxx 15 ?

I just want yo know if i maximize the use of server.

Server         Workers   Price
2G/2CPUS        3        20$
4GB/2CPUS        7        40$
8GB/4CPUS        15        80$
16GB/8CPUS    30        160$

Thanks,

Mike

The number you put is based on the number if V CPUs your package gets. So your 8gb 4 CPU option would have 4 afterwards not 15.

Hi,

thanks for your response but im confused. So you mean

8gb/4CPUs =  ./ptsminer Phxxxxx 4

I was able to run  ./ptsminer Phxxxxx 15

Does this have an effect on mining performance? I feel if i set on 4 im not maximizing the server use right?

Thanks,

Mike

Thanks for the response. For now there is no earnings on mining. Better for now i guest just buy rather than mining...in my end mining 1pts = 30+usd

Do pts have a daemon like bitcoind?

Thanks,

Mike
