General Discussion / Re: Move Bitsharestalk to Steemit?
« on: May 10, 2016, 12:26:41 am »
Why not use both rather than forcing the premined STEEM down our throats?

They're trying to raise over $3million via kickstarter? That'll never happen.

I think the future is pretty clear for BTS:

1. work out the kinks with Steem
2. merge best parts of steem + BTS into a next generation DEX
3. sharedrop + dev allocation

It is just a much longer roadmap.

what do you guys think, bts buy out steem?
The last buyout of DNS + VOTE lead to none of their features being introduced to BTS. I don't think merging Steem into BTS to create a next gen rebranded BTS is a good idea, it's a digg clone that pays users for content.. I don't see how it has a place within a decentralized exchange platform?

If I can be 100% serious, the STEEM announcement was posted on April 1st and I legit took it for an april fools joke... whoops.

"[ANN] [STEEM] Introducing Steem, Looking for Witnesses / Miners « on: April 01, 2016, 05:04:47 PM »"

"We have secured ~80% of the initial STEEM via mining.  Our plan is to keep 20%, sell 20% to raise money, and give away 40% to attract users / referrers." So STEEM is premined and is being distributed by a central issuing authority? Where was the snapshot/sharedrop? Is Bitshare's past sharedrop theory/spirit dead? I think this is the bit that made me think it was an april fools joke, the terrible initial distribution model they chose lol.

RE: "3. sharedrop + dev allocation"
These proposed dev allocated funds, are these outwith the allocated shares for BTS/STEEM? Ie 90% BTS 7.5% STEEM and 2.5% dev funds? Isn't there already a sizable quantity of dev fund reserves in BTS? Considering STEEM has allocated themselves 20% are more dev funds neccessary?

Steem isn't present in the roadmap laid out for BTS, so how its future inclusion in BTS clear? https://bitshares.org/roadmap.html

Unable to import 9.3c keys, I get a blank screen & refreshing does not fix it : /

Any suggestions?

you need to import the key.json generated from console from 0.9.3.c wallet
i'm on win 7 64 bit and work all fine

Does anybody have any other suggestions regarding the white screen issue?

I have been working on the above with no luck so far.
I'm still having issues too :(
I'm attempting to import the same keys that i successfully imported into BTS 2.0
Windows 8.1 64bit (running as admin).

Nevermind.. i was using the wrong password LOL!!!

Very good point - where's the DNS partner? lol..

Side note - is vote going to be a seperate client, or built into BTS?

damn shit... it even works worse than the BTS2.0 wallet.

I see the notes but i cannot claim them because there is no account in the drop down menu.  I dont understand it... I created a second account but it still doesnt work. Hopefully poloniex will add notes soon, so i can drop that bag there.

Refresh the page.

This is not working for me.

Already tried application reboot, PC reboot, new wallet and several refreshes - no luck, still a big white blank screen.

first unlock the wallet before importing the keys. that helped me with the problem
Same - I've created an account, unlocked the wallet successfully, navigated to settings | import keys, selected the correct key, entered the correct password, hit submit and it's just stuck at a white blank screen. It's not frozen (not unresponsive), and it's not using any computing resources, but i've left it for over half an hour now with no luck. Tries with admin mode too :S

I've done that every time so far - still no luck.

General Discussion / Re: Anouncement Concerning BTS Vesting
« on: January 20, 2015, 02:43:32 pm »
Can we eliminate PTS from their second snapshot in BTS? They're continuing development and shouldn't be given BTS to dump and reinvest immediately into PTS.

If PTS is being merged in, it should be killed off 100%.

One thing that would immediately clear my mind regarding PTS, is whether or not the snapshot for BTS went through (that BTSX was diluted so that PTS and AGS could be merged in, alongside vote and DNS).

If the dilution did occur, then isn't is a bit unfair that PTS would then continue to exist?...
Can anyone answer this? Was PTS merged into BTSX alongside DNS and VOTE as planned last year? Or did the community decide to allow PTS to exist on its own?
If it has been, then there is no reason for PTS to exist anymore.

We really should put this into an FAQ...

The merger on nov-5 merged DNS, VOTE and BTSX into the new BTS super-DAC. Because now the superDAC exists, I3 will not release any additional DACs. That change of plan was seen as unfair to PTS/AGS holders (post feb-28), which is why PTS and AGS also received additional BTS in the "merger". The social consensus remains unchanged wrt 3rd party DACs. Both Stan and Dan have repeatedly stated that PTS will continue to exist after nov-5.
Right, so when BTSX was first created both PTS and AGS were sharedropped to.
Then when it merges, PTS and AGS holders get given more BTS - getting paid a second time.
Then PTS decides it wants to continue existing after that?
Why not join the BTS team?
Why not offer more funtionality as a DAC than just managing to get the bitshares toolkit running and hijacking the old marketing?

The social consensus I believe now applies to BTS, and the idea of sharedropping will spread to getting userbases from other cryptos outside of the bitshares toolkit crypto scene.

On another note, regarding the issue of BTS being tied up in cryptoassets - if a new DAC was deciding to snapshot BTS, they'd announce the date and users would move their cryptoassets back to bts, which would help the peg and allow for liquidity for those wanting to buy bitassets..

Are there any further features planned for the new PTS? Because otherwise, it's just the bitshares toolkit up and running with no extra features attached (less than what other DACs offer).

Sounds like the rebirth of PTS is a bunch of fucking criminals trying to pull off a scam.
Jog on, PTS is dead.

If you think the issues with BTS snapshots are complicated now just wait until things really get rolling.

Let's say BTS has a multi billion dollar market cap, a thousand UIAs, hundreds of millions of BTS locked up in collateral and cold storage, institutional investors owning large stakes in BTS, etc.

Now something like PLAY or MUSIC comes along and wants to AirDrop to an engaged crypto community. Is BTS the best answer? I think it'd be an absolute nightmare.
So litterally the only purpose of the new PTS is to act as a crypto that can be snapshotted?
Well.. so can any other crypto (excluding BTS). And are you stating that BTS will not be used for snapshots on behalf of the BTS community? Will my previous PTS not be merged into BTS now? What on earth are you pulling here?!

I still don't get why people are wanting to keep PTS alive.. A snapshot was taken for BTS from pts/ags/vote/btsx so that the one common crypto could exist without fragmentation. The revived PTS has no purpose other than to keep PTS investors happy. Let PTS die and stop trying to split the community apart.
