General Discussion / Can someone create a video on how to vote
« on: December 05, 2014, 02:35:36 pm »
I voted for delegates and still it says my account isn't voting with all of it's stake. How do I verify that I'm voting with all my stake, can I divide my stake percentages for certain delegates, how does one vote properly, what happens if you don't vote, these questions need to be answered in a video.

I have an idea, what if we started have discussions with Newmont Mining so that people could buy their precious metals with BitGold, BitSilver, etc. We need to make it clear that Newmont should be the first to accept BitGold in exchange for the real metal. What do you guys think? When should we have this discussion, how do we prepare for something like this, who would be the key people to make this possible.

"Newmont Mining Corporation, based in Greenwood Village, Colorado, USA, is one of the world's largest producers of gold, with active mines in Nevada, Indonesia, Australia, New Zealand, Ghana and Peru." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newmont_Mining_Corporation

General Discussion / Technical Indicators/Something like bitcoinwisdom
« on: November 25, 2014, 03:02:43 pm »
Traders would like to use Bitshares like they use Bitcoinwisdom. Let's have a discussion on which chart features are most important. I'm sure they can all be added quickly.

I'd like to see an "Alarm Feature", once price reaches a certain point, the software sends an alarm/notification.

Stakeholder Proposals / Some of my stake isn't voting
« on: November 25, 2014, 06:21:30 am »
I'd like to vote for some delegates, I once randomly checked as many delegates as possible to rid of the warning message that my some of my stake isn't voting, how do I vote with everything? And I'd like to vote for good delegates, so any delegates reading this, post your info.

General Discussion / Partnering With Elementary OS/Other Opensource Distros
« on: November 24, 2014, 05:23:55 pm »
So as many of you already know last month Apple released OSX Yosemite: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OS_X_Yosemite

Privacy issues:
Spotlight on Yosemite by default reports the user's current location (at the city level) and all their search queries to Apple and third parties.
Reporting by Spotlight can be disabled by the user, although, even if this is done, the Safari web browser will continue to send search terms to Apple unless the function is separately disabled. It has been claimed that many other components of the operating system send data to Apple by default.

After reading about the privacy issues, I've decided to look for an opensource OS that looks like a mac (personal taste). I've come across Elementary OS: http://elementaryos.org/ before and thought, hey maybe it's a good idea if Bitshares partners with the developers of Elementary and the developers could add an option during the install process to the install the Bitshares software.

I believe that we should reach out to not just Elementary but to all opensource OS developers that may be interested in this idea.
It would be a great way to get spread the joys of Bitshares, while being less work for the user, instead of going to the bitshares website, it's an option during the install process.

Just wondering if the software is capable of handling a scenario where we see a shit load of people floading in, downloading the wallet, buying shares/assets. Is Bitshares and the website ready for this, because I see that in the near future there is a potential for a parabolic move in Bitcoin.

General Discussion / Code Checking System
« on: November 02, 2014, 09:20:45 pm »
I hate to see this idea get buried in the forums, so I'm reviving in hopes that bytemaster or a developer will save it somewhere.

Code Checking System

With this code checking system a developer can check each line of the Bitshares code while getting paid to find errors, change, or improve the code.

Here is how it works: A developer/checker opens a program to check the Bitshares code. At the end of each line of code, there is a checkbox, green for ok, red for bad. At each line you can see a number of how many people have checked the code. Those that find the most mistakes get rewarded the most.

If you have checked over 100 lines of code that have no errors you get a small reward. If you find an error you get rewarded a lot more. Each "checker" adds to the value of the code. The more a line has been approved the less likely it contains errors.

Also, say 100 checkers have checked the box green, and then one checker comes along and sees an error. This checker gains 1 point of reputation, while the other 100 checkers lose 1 point of reputation. So if you lose a lot of reputation you could lose your status as a checker, since you probably aren't good at coding. Also, the first person to find the error get's the most pay and reputation, those that verify after his confirmed error get less pay, since he found it first. This way there is a race to find the first error.

Finally, if a line of code has been checked let's say over 5,000 times. This line of code will be declared 100% error free. Error free lines have the boxes removed/no more rewards for this line, this helps checkers go over newer lines of code.

This "Code Checking System" could also bring more developers to Bitshares as they would be attracted to getting paid to check code.... "I can get paid for checking code, what is bitshares,....very cool, let me look at this code.... :) oh one error here :)"

Also, later down the road, you could add the ability for a checker to add a line of code or change a line. And this line can get voted up or down by the other checkers. If your line get's approved over 1,000 times it get's added to the next update and you get paid for changing or adding the line.

Everyone's input and thoughts are appreciated.

General Discussion / Code that get's approved - Experiment
« on: November 01, 2014, 04:59:34 pm »
In the Bitshares client, could it be possible to have place for people to improve the Bitshares code. The user could submit the code to the community, community checks and verfies the code for errors, after approval the code is implementing into the next update.

We could make this experiment to learn if this could work.

General Discussion / Volume for bitUSD and bitCNY
« on: October 28, 2014, 07:15:37 pm »
So I just looked at: http://bitsharesblocks.com/assets

And the 24 hour volume for bitUSD looks pretty good at over $70,000
then I look at bitCNY - 24 hour volume is $3

I heard about on-ramps being put in place for bitUSD, any being placed for bitCNY? Or is that a grey area with the Chinese government

BITSHARES (will this be a new wallet?)

BitsharesX      Voting      Music      Other Dacs

So from my understanding, we will have BITSHARES, and under BITSHARES we have all the other Dacs, is this correct?
