I think we are all upset by the price drop of BTS, and as a result we are getting angry with each other.

Lets all not take too personally things that we said to each other today, given that we are actually just venting frustrations about the share price.

So at first I was a bit disheartened that I seem to give off a super creepy/dishonest vibe to everyone I interact with here... But at least I'm getting lots of attention!

I didnt get that vibe from you at all.  I get the vibe of someone who understands the vision of Bitshares and is excited about it.

(The only thing you proposed that I didnt like was the idea of using dilution to increase the bitasset yield.  But my being against that idea doesnt mean I am against you in general, I love everything else you have written about bitshares).

On a slightly different note - What is the sale pitch of this new Cooperative again? What  will we tell those 'I will wait for the train to be crowded to the limit, before I get  on.' people, to make them board now?

"Come spend your money now, before we change our vision again next week and cause another 20% drop"?

Thank you so much for these posts, love everything about them! :)

If only the whales would stop dumping Bitshares.

General Discussion / Re: I hope new bts will rise 200% after 11.05

It's still got good long term potential.  Not as much as Nxt but it's always a great idea to diversify.

Also, keep in mind that the reason for the spike was largely because people thought Overstock might go with BTSX.. which is clearly not happening anymore.  Also the other big thing BTSX had going for it was BitUSD.. but clearly NuBits is maintaining a much more stable price, while BitUSD has been a little bit weak.

Wow, you managed to say, all in one post:
NXT > BTSX.
Nubits > bitUSD.
And that our price rise was people fantasizing about an overstock partnership.

The absolute worst thing about this price drop is having to watch people be able to make all these bullshit statements in one post, and have it seem like they might actually be right because BTSX is getting destroyed.

3216
Guess I was right to feel bad about this post, another 20% drop today.

Congrats on killing Bitshares.

Who will be left in the "community" when bitshares is below 1 cent?

3217
So, is it just me, or did Bitshares just completely jump the shark.

What happened, we got a letter from the SEC and now we cant be a company anymore, we have to all become hippies and be a community?

3218
Everyone being confused about this reminds me of...

There are leaders and then there are rulers.   I hope the lead the team without ruling the team.

This I totally agree with.

/vote for Bytemaster as leader but not dictator. :)

3220
I also hope it hasn't escaped your notice that some people want you to be in charge and to make decisions as the leader that you are and that their confidence and willingness to invest in this is based on that.  Having an army of people "in charge" doesn't inspire confidence IMHO.  Hopefully it doesn't turn out that way.  As you've said, decentralization is a tactic, not an end in itself.  Just saying...my 2 cents.

I agree.  In Bytemaster we trust.

When we had the whole 'merger' proposal thread a couple weeks back, my reaction was super positive, and the market's reaction was violently negative.
My reaction to this post is more negative.  I dont see how it really helps anything, aside from potentially protecting from legal attacks.  Who knows what the market will do, everyone else is apparently crazy, so maybe BTSX will go up now

3221
I have to ask - was this run through Brian and the marketing team before being announced? What is Brian's view on this if so? I think it's really important for the community to know that it was at least discussed with him first?

Its probably actually coming from Marketing, (and/or Legal).

I think BM has learned by now not to just randomly post his thoughts on the forum, after what happened last time.

3222
Hopefully this post wont result in yet another 10%+ BTSX tanking like the "merger" proposal thread, whereby those out there who want to see bitshares drop will use anything and everything in an attempt to FUD, and weak and stupid hands will dump their shares.    (Would be nice to have a day where I could do something other than be sick about the BTSX price dropping again).

I definitely get the impression from everything that has happened that funding for development is being moved away from anything that the government could potentially try to attack/fine (i.e. I3), and towards a goal of each developer being paid for by Bitshares, by shareholder vote, with accountability, and in a way where development can continue and be sustained no matter what attacks Bitshares comes under.

On one hand, that is great.  On the other, it makes me fearful that attacks are coming.  Still, much better to be prepared in advance.  To have a plan whereby Bitshares can continue to grow and thrive no matter what happens.

General Discussion / Re: Cost basis in BTC or USD
« on: October 29, 2014, 11:03:13 pm »
I've been calculating my cost basis for altcoins in BTC, and I'm realizing this might have been a bad idea, given its volatility.

Do you guys track your cost basis for BTSX in USD?
Is it dumb to track altcoin cost bases in BTC?

If you want to know "how bad of an idea was it for me to have bought this stupid altcoin, rather than just stick with bitcoin", then you calculate your basis in BTC.

If you want to know "how bad of an idea was it for me to blow my money on this crypto idea", then you calculate your cost basis in USD.

General Discussion / Re: bitUSD marketcap
« on: October 29, 2014, 11:00:47 pm »
But someone had to buy all that as well; it seems unlikely that half a million worth of shorts and bids would appear at almost exactly the same time. My bet is that some whale shorted it all to himself.

It seems to me that it is probably someone internal to the dev or marketing team, creating bitUSD for some purpose, like you said.  (Using dev BTSX shares to short, using dev bitcoin funds to buy the bitUSD).  The bitUSD will then be used for...???
Paying team salaries?  Beginning a business partnership they have been working on?

(Or it could just be a bullish BTSX whale looking for leverage matched up with a bearish whale looking to hedge).

It has emerged Invictus is right in the firing line of a SEC investigation in crypto IPOs. People are putting their money in BitUSD in the expectation that this news will cause the price of BitsharesX to fall without crashing it completely.

Not only is this a lie (about the firing line of SEC investigation), but you have it all backwards.  Someone who would short hundreds of thousands of $ of bitUSD in existence is actually betting that BTSX will soon RISE in price, not fall.

Whoever shorted all of the bitUSD into existence, increasing the supply, is both a whale and is bullish on BTSX.
