Muse/SoundDAC / April update
« on: April 04, 2015, 07:40:49 pm »
Back from Austin
We are back from the Texas Bitcoin Conference, which took place in Austin on the last weekend of March.
The entire PeerTracks team was present including a founding member of BitSapphire.

We had a 20 minute slot to speak and show off the completed front end of the PeerTracks web app and a few slides of the Moonstone wallet.
The goal of the talk was to introduce the team, show the web app working, explain that we are breaking out of crypto land and going out to the masses independent of the success or failure of Bitcoin or BitShares.
We ended by presenting the moonstone wallet, which will be seamlessly integrated into the PeerTracks web app. The emphasis was placed on the fact that every single PeerTracks artist and music listener will by default have a wallet tied to their account that allows for crosschain transactions in and out of Bitcoin and BitShares related chains. This was a Bitcoin conference and it was important that we explain exactly how important this will be for the entire crypto world!

Where we stand today
Notes are being made liquid as a User Issued Asset on the BitShares Chain and some of you reading this might already have claimed them. They can be traded around right now on the internal market. Nothing has been announced yet since there are a few bugs in the main BitShares client that still need to be taken care of in order to ensure everyone gets their Notes.  As soon as we know for a fact that everyone can simply import their Bitcoin private keys into the BitShares client and their Note balance appears without a hiccup, we will release an official “How to claim my Notes 101” statement.
Notes are presently worth more then they were during at the end of the pre-sale. You can sell your Notes on the internal BitShares market now. We must focus on getting a platform out that can change the entertainment industry. We cannot focus much time on the crypto crowd nor can we divulge much information that could be used by the big players in the industry to crush our efforts. If you can’t stand the few updates we give out publicly, head down to the market and sell your Notes. Do not worry about us. Development will continue whether the market cap is one dollar or a billion dollars.

On Friday the 10th of April, we will release a one pager entitle “What are Notes” at www.WhatAreNotes.info
Make sure you check it out.

The front end (the PeerTracks web app MVP) is complete and is being readied to plug into the music blockchain. A few pioneer artists will be able to create their profile and token as soon as the blockchain is completed!
The blockchain itself is being built as you read this. Most of it is complete and we are approaching testing phase.

Thanks for the support everyone.

If you have sent BTC to the Music project using a bitcoin address you don't control the private keys to, you will have to provide us with a signed message telling us which address you would like to have your Notes sent to.

What you need to do:
In the comment section below, please provide us with the following information:
1. Your Bitcoin address used to send funds to the Note pre-sale address
2. A signed message that tells us what address you would like to get your Notes sent to
3. The signature proving the message was signed by you

Troubleshooting

How do I sign a message?
If you sent from Coinbase, you can follow these easy steps: https://support.coinbase.com/customer/portal/articles/1526413-how-do-i-sign-a-message-with-a-bitcoin-address-

Or

If you do not control your private keys, you can ask the exchange/wallet provider to sign a message for you.

What do I need to tell my exchange/wallet?
You need to ask your exchange/wallet to sign a message from the specific address you sent your bitcoins from containing the new address you would like to get your Notes delivered to.

Do you have an example of a message I could send to my exchange/wallet?
"Dear Coinbase

Could I ask you to please sign a message from the following bitcoin address: 154WKm4ntKT1zrWpwCZBWjp5JMuxhGVuZQ
The message I would like you to sign for me is the following: New address: 15jXdRD7UDDoV6DhyLJbJMYD9SAv7G9STE

Thank you"

Do I need to do this if I control the private keys
No, you only need to perform these actions if you do not control your private keys.

Example of how a post from you could look:
Address: 13U3XLUTRHLGMwfCmhde7EmQtNdJE7X2zw
Message: New Address: 1A2SAL7i5UwZ3pYuaf7rcBj1U3wffEAoo7
Signature: H0OJtflbALrRR4eRdzf/yCNLe+RFjsPNlU6384i3W+RUElPyrraY8FZYk3exCij5j3K9PfzvV/2JhExXhEQtVUo=

Muse/SoundDAC / Micro update
« on: February 05, 2015, 05:43:53 am »
In the next few days we'll be making the NOTE snapshot liquid as a UIA on bitshares.

Some people had concerns that this means we're going to be doing the entire Music project on the bitshares blockchain. This is false! We plan to just let the snapshot trade on BTS, and then freeze, snapshot, and recall all NOTEs when we are ready to launch a separate chain as was originally planned.

Toast tells us Dan wants us to operate on the BTS blockchain, and maybe that's why some people think this is the plan, but this isn't Dan's project. We've received plenty of feedback telling us not to do this and we agree.

To be fair, Toast did share some interesting ideas about how to do "embedded" DACs in a way where the token still accrues value from related transactions. We will let a different project be the pioneer, though.

To avoid confusion (and to bring BTS some more volume), we strongly recommend that exchanges do not list the NOTE UIA and wait for the real network launch.

======
PeerTracks update: going to the Grammy's! PR/networking time!

More refined business model coming soon

General Discussion / Least volatile measure of value. What could it be?
« on: December 12, 2014, 05:36:43 am »
What BitShares is doing with BitAssets is great. It's a way to avoid the crazy volatility present in the crypto world but the BitUSD only pegs to the USD, which is controlled by the FED. BitGold only pegs to Gold which like all commodities can be tampered with.

Are there any projects out there, or thinkers, philosophers, that have an idea how to get a stable measure of value. Something that's barely, if at all, volatile.

I say this because we could create a BitAsset that tracts just that.

Not that this is a priority of course, BitUSD is one hell of an leap forward from any other crypto out there, but it would be interesting to have a crypto that is stable AND free from the FED price controls and market manipulation of gold and silver.

I read an E.C.Riegel book a few weeks ago. He has an interesting approach to money. His approach is an anarchistic, volatility free, IOU approach that looks like it would be a perfect fit with blockchain technology. I have no idea how strong his theory is. I haven't really had the time to think it through and research it more in depth yet. Not with the PeerTracks project!
I'm wondering if there's anything insightful out there on the internet about this very subject.

What would make the perfect crypto unit of account?

Muse/SoundDAC / Final day of the Note Pre-sale!

That's right it's been two months already.

Time flies in cryptoland and yet a billion things happened during this short period.

So to all those that are on the fence or just plain ol procrastinators ^^ this is the last 5 million Note auction!

I know I repeat myself but thanks again to everyone that participated so far. I do not think you will regret it one bit. Wait till you see what we have in store for the soft launch in march.

General Discussion / Token Controlled Access + DACs = voluntary communism?
« on: November 26, 2014, 09:31:40 pm »
Wait what?!

Haha ok this might need some explanation. I was thinking about token controlled access last night and how with the music project, artist will be able to offer perks to anyone that holds their respective artist tokens.
If you have 10 tokens you get 20% off all merch and music. if you have 50 tokens you have 50% off, 100 tokens and everything is free, 150 tokens are you are a VIP member, you get to go to concerts, you can see new stuff early, and have access to the classic showercam ^^

Now I started thinking about big businesses using this concept. I'm sorry if this subject was covered to death already but I've been a bit busy with the Music project these past months!
So anyway, big firms, yeah. Imagine an insurance company that uses this principle. The firms has it's regular price for medical insurance, says 100$/month. But token holders get a discount. Say 1 token = 1% discount on your premium. People would no doubt like to have free health insurance and so people might scramble to get 100 tokens. This means TONS of capital flowing into that market. You essentially opted in to "universal healthcare" no monthly costs, just buy and hold. Whenever you are moving abroad or switching companies, you can actually sell your coverage. a satoshi at a time if you want. There would be a market value for your insurance tokens.

It doesn't have to be one size fits all either. Smokers might need 110 tokens to be covered, if they stop smoking, it's back to 100, they can then sell off 10 of their tokens on the market to whoever wants health care discounts.

So that lead me to blockchain communism lol

What if a company called communism inc. basically did this. If you hold our "Communism INC token" you get taken care of.
You have x tokens, you get 10% all health insurance, public transportation, grocery store bills, etc.
If you have y tokens, you get 50%.
And of course if you have z tokens, you are part 100% taken care off and so are you spouse(s) and kids.

This btw is pure brainstorming. Holes everywhere I know but let's pick everybody's brain here.

Say you had a DAC that did something like this.
I don't know how it would work but it's an interesting thought.

I wonder how the economics would work. Say everyone wanted 100% health coverage. It would make the tokens skyrocket for sure, and I'm sure those that are healthy would probably cash out instead of keeping all those tokens while in real good health. It would be a mechanism to see who wants health care the most. A kind of rationing system for scarce ressource.
Now one thing I haven't thought through at all is the income of that company. If everyone just buys the token, how does the insurance company make $? Sure their market cap is going through the roof but how are they paying off the bills.
I think that's where dilution comes into play. If the company is a DAC or plugged to a DAC, it could dilute and sell some new tokens on the open market to fund operations.

Anyone want to take it over from here? I'd love to see a discussion about this. I must be missing something!

Muse/SoundDAC / First PeerTracks gathering
« on: November 24, 2014, 05:41:59 am »
Hello everyone!

As some of you may know PeerTracks just had a week long gathering of the devs in Houston Texas. Since we’ve decided the Minimal Viable Product (MVP) needs to include streaming, we used the opportunity to get the whole team in one location and go over the entire business model from A to Z.

After having met the Kosovo guys (which are AWESOME might I add) in person, we locked ourselves is a house for a week with some whiteboards, post-its, stickers and really got down to business.

To say the week long design sprint was productive would be an understatement! It was extremely valuable. For the first 3-4 days we had epiphany after epiphany. This is going to be bigger than we all thought. And yet the purpose of the sprint was to get all ideas and features and possibilities down to an MVP. So although a ton a value was discovered, the road towards reaching it is now way shorter and simpler.

The goal was to find out what gives us the edge on the competition. What do we have that none of the big players have? What is our unfair advantage?
Well, we found it and are going to capture that market as fast as possible. The rest will be built on top of the MVP and all the extra little features will be added later on once we’ve established a presence in the music market.

Now I wish I could spill the beans and tell you guys everything we figured out and yes it’s very un-crypto of us to keep it secret…
BUT
We simply cannot go into details just yet. We are going up against Google, Apple and a bunch of Sharks in the music industry. They have the funding, they have the coders, they have the time, the lawyers, the contacts.
Yet we found our unfair advantage and are going to RUN with it.

To give you an idea of what I mean, think of google +
Google has the tech, the money, the people, and everything you could possibly imagine to create a great social media platform that could out perform Facebook. And yet, Google + still has not caught on, why? Because the community is what’s valuable. We cannot built a gimmick website that can simply be replicated by the big boys for a million dollars.
We have our unfair advantage and a beach head. We know exactly what we need to do in order to make it big  (:

So just to keep it very general.
-We’ve figured out a way to make our back end cheap, fast and transparent. So much that it could change the crypto and tech worlds in general. BitShares Music might grow up to be much MUCH more.
-We’ve found a way, through the existence of Artistcoins, to benefit to small artist and the already a superstar artist.
-We’ve found a way to fix the Taylor Swift vs Spotify issue. Meaning huge selling point for BIG artists.
-We’ve found a way to make the best playlists out there. (appealing to users/music listeners)
-We’ve found a way to change the entire royalty tracking payment system.

And we’ve actually started testing the user interface with users to see if the non-crypto people get it.

More details will come out as we go of course.

We are planning on a soft launch in March. The goal is to have a working MVP of PeerTracks’ basic features and get a few hundred users testing everything out. Artists will also be able to sign up at launch and see what the blockchain can do for them.
From there, Eddie and I will work on getting additional funding in order to get our MVP all the bells and whistles it needs to be a full blown, scalable beast of a machine!

So thank you everyone for the support thus far. Very appreciated! We are doing our best to deliver a kick ass product ensuring that the network it rests on has a high value. I am no doubt biased on this but I think buying Notes was a good move ^^

Here are a few pictures of our week for those that are interested!

Muse/SoundDAC / Updates. securing funds + march event
« on: November 03, 2014, 06:30:54 pm »
Hello Future NOTE Holders

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the crypto community and all others who have participated in the Pre-sale

Many of you already know our Note pre-sale address is a multisig address using Copay. We wanted to make sure if one person was compromised in any way that we would not lose all the funds.

Today we are moving the funds amassed so far by the pre-sale. We are incurring cost on a daily basis and need these funds to begin to offset those cost. One of those expenses needs to be covered this week – we have six of the brightest minds coming on board this week to see the project through to its first official launch date of March 28 – 29 at the Texas Bitcoin Conference in Austin TX strategically scheduled after SXSW – we plan on being at SXSW the week before as we are a featured platform throughout the conference –

The balance of funds and the current funds being received will be held In cold storage for safety -

So we are happy to announce that everything is moving forward smoothly and we aim on bringing the music platform of the millennium to the masses – stay tuned!

Hi everyone.

Just to clarify. We haven't announced anything because we haven't changed anything :)

Plan A is still. Make our own blockchain using the BitShares toolkit.

If ever the entire DAC would gain by merging with the SuperDAC, then we will consider it. But right now, we are sticking with plan A since I think it's much wiser to take a wait and see approach anyway.

What if the superDAC is the best thing ever coded? Then sure, we will list pros and cons and see what everyone thinks and start that whole debate.
But at least we'll have a precedent and much less moving parts and "what ifs" to consider.

So plan A it is. PeerTracks needs to plug into SOMETHING and there is a lot of work left to be done there.

All this to say, nothing has changed and we will be vocal if we ever start considering it. You will all be in the loop.

Hope this clears things up.

Muse/SoundDAC / BitShares Music and/or NOTE logo. Any ideas?
« on: October 11, 2014, 06:17:26 pm »
Hey Guys! PeerTracks already has it's logo for its or company.

Now what we don't have is a logo for either BitShares Music as a whole or just the Notes.

Might just have one work for both. Like Bitcoin's B is the logo to represent the units + the blockchain/network.

Any ideas?
