Stakeholder Proposals / Re: [Worker Proposal] Chronos Crypto videos
« on: June 21, 2016, 07:17:17 pm »
I think the problem is that Chronos still hasn't updated the video where he says "distributed proof of stake".
The video is very good otherwise and I think its a great explainer.  I disagree that it is boring.  The videos should be added to the bitshares website.  That would drive more traffic.  Just because there are few views now doesn't mean it is a bad video.  It just hasn't been promoted and utilized.
Once again: I appreciate hard work (i know it is).
From my outsider perspective it looks like a job for a buddy. I'm just saying what i think and how i feel about this. I'm sure many potential investors lurking this forum and some of them seeing this same as me. I think you're giving blockchain's money to easy. Things like this could be founded via steemit.
It is boring... like a lesson... bla bla bla bla bla - most people hate to learn  - they will not watch this.

General Discussion / Re: Possibly scam UIA - LISK_BTS
« on: June 21, 2016, 06:08:20 pm »
This is not first time, same with LISKICO scam.
There is serious issue with "find markets", which i belive is a main reason why newbies buying scam assets. It happen not all the time, but mostly => http://imgur.com/Ye26jas
Same with any OPEN.asset.
Fix this and no problem anymore.
You can't expect that people navigate markets via Home.

Apreciate hard work, but i don't like it - it's boring and you have not many views. My proxy (xeroc) voted at you, so whatever, but i'm angry because this worker. I'm voting up everything bitshares related at steemit (even if i don't like it)

I think he is talking about trollbox. Trollbox is great but there is an issue - you never know if your adversary hearing you and sometimes you can see one guy responding to another, who is invisible to you (frustrating). I know that this is p2p and its hard do jump over it, so maybe we could have site like this one: http://www.polonibox.com/.

Site could agregate trollbox via multiple nodes and categorize them by hashtags that users could create and use - this way we could have a channels and all messages would be hearen amongst all off community.

Could you please remove deposits option in graphene-ui? It's still active and people may not be aware about that you're closing.

With BTS you can short dollar and it's very tempting right now. But to make short you need someone who want buy. If OPENPOS is not just bullshit and they deliver soon we have some chance. Colateral takes bts out of the market and most people shorting because they are gamblers.

All we need is huge market. Openledger doing great job working to make it happen (real work, we can see effects).

Do you even read bitco.in forum? New bitcoin forum with old gang crew. They want fork and they will, because they can and are fascinated  by this idea. And they have a lot of BTC.

They need market, we need market - what's wrong with you, guys?

General Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fork futures
« on: June 11, 2016, 05:11:28 pm »
I'll try explain my point of view (forigive me my language).

  Imagine event like this:

Bitcoin chain will split and create 2 new coins.
One developed by Bitcoin Core team (CORE.btc formely known as bitcoin) and second one, let's say PIZZA.btc (maybe different
algo, maybe thinblocks, maybe unlimited block size -  it doesn't really matter right now). Since both coins have same root, i can be sure that if i keept 1 BTC at my own key in moment of fork creation,  i will be granted with 1 PIZZA and 1 CORE (Old bitcoin is quantum animal from now) at new blockchains.

What is your price for PIZZA?
What is your price for CORE?

Isn't better sell alts, move BTCs from exchanges and wait for profits from every future splits? This is actually my strategy*.

What if Openledger create  asset in day of fork ANNouncment and send them to all OPEN.BTC holders so they can be traded but withdrawed only when fork comes live?

Also what with bitBTC? Should blockchain issue fork asset to every bitBTC holder?

I feel this is great chance for Bitshares.
It must be done or volume goes to zero.

 Not possible?
 Just wait.

*  I have also  1 BTC worth (actually lot less now :/) stake of  BTS  and other assets, which is... stupid but can't help it. I'm in love with Bitshares.

Edit:

Point is: if forks like this one:
https://bitco.in/forum/threads/announcement-bitcoin-project-to-full-fork-to-flexible-blocksizes.933/
...becomes real.
Traders will withdraw BTC's from exchanges to obtain their free coins (we will see if exchanges have backed all their BTC assets - i doubt it).

I figured out "simple"  defense mechanism for any bitshares based exchange (in this case openledger):

Before first fork (prediction market for bitco.in guys):

 1 OPEN.BTC = 1 OPEN.CORE + 1 OPEN.PIZZA

send 1 OPEN.BTC to SPLIT account you will receive: 1 OPEN.CORE and 1 OPEN.PIZZA => trade, hold, you can't witdraw.
send 1 PIZZA and 1 CORE to JOIN account you will receive: 1 OPEN.BTC => trade, hold or withdraw

After first fork:
OPEN.BTC  is "dead" => you can trade and hold but can't witdraw without spliting.
send 1 OPEN.BTC  to SPLIT account, you will receive : 1 OPEN.CORE and 1 OPEN.PIZZA => trade, hold,  WITHDRAW!!!

General Discussion / Bitcoin fork futures
« on: June 09, 2016, 03:41:31 pm »
Ok guys, here is a story:
https://bitco.in/forum/threads/gold-collapsing-bitcoin-up.16/page-621#post-22017

Quote
That's exactly what I've meant. Maybe I am getting the terminology a little off and that is throwing some people. Unless I'm forgetting some details, all I mean by "fork futures" is that, say, Huobi says something like:

NOTICE: On September 1st a spinoff of Bitcoin will go live, meaning your balance (currently 8 BTC) held on Huobi will entitle you to withdraw that amount in both sides of the spinoff. If you would like to adjust the ratios, we have set up a market for you to trade the 'rights to withdraw BTC' (in one or the other side of the spinoff) with other users. Note that any amount of BTC not entered into trading on this market can be withdrawn at any time, but the amounts entered into trading on this market won't be withdrawable until September 1st."
It is like Openledger ICO sells, just easier i think.
Can be done?

Technical Support / Re: BitShares UI is a disaster.
« on: June 08, 2016, 12:43:19 am »
Actually, at small screens it is a dissaster - only for masochists. Tested a lot on my old 1024x768 which is enough to feel comfortable at polo with little ctrl - ( i don't accept their "we're detected small screen, would you like...."). At Dex it's nightmare, you can't see shit.

Also I think that BORROW button should be more exposed, with cool  transform animations when you hover on it and even cooler when you click it (maybe one handed bandit? :)).  Then it can be use for marketing (same as facebook like).
Top stats is not good place for chart related buttons - this is just so wrong.
